«Enlighten Me»
acaxbaek:
the moment those words left his lips baekhyun felt a slight pang of guilt. accusing minseok of the things he doesnât even know doesnât help the situationâheck, if anything it makes him sound even like a spoiled brat throwing a tantrum for not getting what he wants. baekhyun isnât usually this apprehensive. but with minseok, everything he does seem to irk him beyond belief.Â
âmy mother wasnât the one who left me to suffer alone.â he spits, eyes glaring back towards the elder before trailing off to the shoerack beside him. technically she also did- but she did it for them, right? to make sure baekhyun can still go to school and have something to eat in the end of the day. the pink haired boy grits his teeth. âso no. donât equate yourself with my mother because youâre nothing like her.â
he let out a sigh once minseok decided to let the argument go. as expected of your picture perfect son. the mature, successful and happy adult. what is heâthe child in this equationâcan do to be on par? look at him, being twenty-four yet acts like heâs twelve instead. the only thing he could do to ease his wounded ego is to provoke the other further. and thatâs exactly what heâs going to do.
âthen why? what could possibly be the reason behind your anal retentiveness, oh your majesty? youâre perfect. you have everything going for you. just because the world bows down to your will doesnât mean i would.â
Ever since Baekbeomâs introduction to their relation, it never seems like Minseok and Baekhyun have ever seen eye to eye on anything. They have completely different personalities. They are magnets facing each other with the same polarization; one wants to get closer, but the other just pushes away. If this were any other person, Minseok would be well on his way to sever any other attempt made to meet on common ground, knows itâs a waste of time when the other party clearly isnât interested. However, this pertains Baekhyun, his âfamily,â his brother whom he is admittedly curious about. But he is someone with a rebellious spirit and only blood tying them together.
Everything about this still feels wrong. His expectations arenât being met, being challenged, really. It makes his skin prickle with irritation, the flare rising up his neck as he glares at the younger, and thereâs nothing heâs doing to calm it. Falling prey to his emotions is uncouth, and his nails dig into the palm of his hand as he controls his temper, but he cannot also let these insults go on for longer.
âBaekhyun,â he says sternly, eyes straight onto the other to show he doesnât appreciate the accusations heâs making. Minseok is sure that the outside doesnât show just how furious as much as he feels, but his brows are furrowed, and his lips are pursed into a thin line. âYou can tell me you hate me. You can tell me you donât want to see me again. Thatâs fine, I understand it when I just arrived out of nowhere. But you canât assume that you know me.â He feels a sting in his chest, and every heartbeat feels like itâs hammering it in deeper. His fists clench harder to fight through the pain. âItâs clear that you donât want me to be here. If you didnât want to have dinner with me, you could have said so.â
