the weekends were reserved for relaxing and playing. it was an unspoken rule known by everyone and a culture that was expected among young adults after finishing classes for the week. at least, it was for hani.
the art student had plopped herself on the couch an hour ago and hadn’t moved since. recovering from her late shift at the restaurant last night and even spending the wee hours of the morning adding texture to one of her portraits, the mentally-drained woman had a practically sleepless night. and with jaebum out of the apartment for the day and yuta locked inside of his room, hani was about to allow herself to doze off where she was until she heard the familiar steps patting across the sleek floor.
raising her head lazily, the artist’s eyes met yuta – the younger male appearing from the kitchen with a displeased expression. the woman was about to ask what was up until her question was answered.
there wasn’t any food in the penthouse.
of course, hani had noticed over the past couple days that their food supply was diminishing slowly but surely. but with all the three of the occupants being busy over the past week, it must have just slipped their minds until yuta became fed up with it.

oh well. she can only suppose that weekends were reserved for running errands too. besides, who else would keep yuta from buying unnecessary junk?
catching the keys that were tossed to her and pulling herself off the couch, hani shuffled her feet towards her room, waving in agreement towards her best friend. “let me just grab my jacket and splash water on my face and we’ll go.” she assured him as she disappeared to her room. her voice was heard merely a few seconds later.
“the bribe wasn’t needed, but it’s appreciated! i’ve been dying for a home-cooked meal.”
had he known that it would be this easy to convince her to come along, he wouldn't have bothered to bribe her. then again, it's usually not too difficult to coax the girl into doing anything with him— if there was an opportunity to see yuta act stupid, surely she'd tag along for the laughs, right? he had no doubt that she'd find herself laughing at him today;
he seriously couldn’t remember the last time he had been inside a grocery store.
he nodded at her words, hurrying back to his room to just put on a shirt, his small shiba inu following behind in a hurry. "hey, are dogs allowed in a grocery store if i have him on a leash, or no?" maybe he shouldn't have asked— considering hoshi's strong and unpredictable personality, even holding the small pup in his arms would prove to be difficult seeing as the pup wanted to move so much. on the bright side, hoshi was still only three months old— one of the two could hold him up.
"nevermind! i'm bringing him anyway."
the male headed down the stairs to wait by the unlocked door, the puppy secure in a hug while hoshi was still calm. how he didn’t notice their lack of food supply right away concerned him a little, as there were three other young adults living in the apartment as well. how did no one notice? he wouldn’t blame them if they were busy, but considering they were in their early twenties he isn’t certain of how the four of them ( especially himself ) combined could all ignore this.
“isn’t bribing what i do best, though?” he jokes, nudging her shoulders as the two of them exited the apartment. “besides, it’s the least i could do since you’re going grocery shopping with me. i’m a handful when it comes to shopping — trust me, i’m aware.”
in other words, he was sure that the both of them knew he’d ask to buy numerous needless things and ask stupid questions here and there; and if luck wasn’t on their side, the two of them ( or even hoshi ) may end up lost in the entire store.
“i’m actually surprised you didn’t take longer to get ready.” he eyed her up and down for a moment, shrugging his shoulders nonchalantly. “you looked like you were ready to go on a hibernation before i asked.” okay yes, he was exaggerating, but it was the weekend — being lazy was supposed to be the usual. “anyways, do you know what we should buy? or where everything should even be?”
