I used to blow glass and fully intend to purchase some of my own eventually:

it’s really safe! like, banana-radioactive (a little bit but like, what’s one more teeny risk). It’s inert in glass, just like lead (which is needed to upgrade glass to crystal status). I’m pretty sure we stopped regularly making it so we could do, well, other stuff with uranium. There are glass artists who still work with it, like my fave Katherine Gray (who also hosted Netflix’s Blown Away):
