In a new interview for the Only Natural Diamonds magazine, Irish actress CaitrĆona Balfe spoke about her most meaningful jewelry pieces, which include the "push bling" she received from husband Tony McGill after welcoming their son in 2021.
"I have my push bling, which is such an American concept that I was very happy to bring to the U.K.," Balfe said of the tradition of treating your partner to a present after they give birth. "I got a beautiful engagement, eternity band for that and some gorgeous earrings over the years and different things."
The Outlander star also gushed about the custom engagement ring McGill gave her. "I love vintage jewelry," she said. "Itās kind of like my thing. So he had found a vintage solitaire and then had it created with two other vintage stones."
She continued, "It's so special because I love the idea of a stone or a ring having had a past and history and especially engagement rings because theyāre such tokens of love. So yeah, itās very, very special to me."
Balfe explained that wearing diamonds gives her a unique feeling.
"You put diamonds on and you just sort of feel, I donāt know, thereās something with the energy in the stone," she said. "Itās like it sparkles and you feel like you sparkle, and I think itās beautiful."
Balfe also opened up about her Outlander character Claire's collection of wedding rings.
"Claire has been collecting wedding rings, with her husbands," she said. "She had two different wedding bands from Jamie. Both of which are very, very special to her. She always still wore Frankās wedding ring, and then, Lord John gave her a wedding ring, too, but she didnāt wear that so much. That was sort of. We just sort of forget that that happened."
Season 2 of the historical fantasy series took place in Paris, where Balfe said she wore "some beautiful, beautiful pieces."
"I think whatās coming to mind straightaway is when they go to the court in Paris," she said. "Claire is wearing this insanely beautiful red dress that has a very deep plunge. And then she has these gorgeous red ruby earrings to match. And itās quite a moment.

Balfe described saying goodbye to Outlander, which premiered in 2014, as "bittersweet."

"A decade on something is probably a good chunk of time," she said. "But because it was that long, it was my life. It was a quarter of my life when we ended, that Iād been on that show. The relationships were so deep and strong."
She continued, "But to that point, they are the things that will continue on afterwards. It was so special to be part of something so beautiful and something that touched so many peopleās lives. I think thatās one of the greatest things that is still happening all the time now, where you meet people and they say, 'Oh, it was part of our life for this reason or that reason.' And thatās so special to be part of something that does that."
