Next time you all want to talk shit to me about aces getting their own spaces, I’m just going to point out the fact that I personally pay for an ace-spectrum chat room, and it’s constantly bombarded by non-ace people who post the link to it in sexting chat rooms and post transphobic, acephobic, and racist stuff in there. That I organized an ace-spectrum skype group that was infiltrated and trolled for nearly an hour today by people who’s profiles indicated they were non-ace LGBT. And no matter how many times we kick them or ban them, they keep finding ways to come back.
These actions are designed specifically to target ace people in their safe space. Many of the aces who are affected are minors.
I have to have nearly 10 mods appointed in a chat room that typically has less than 25 people in it at any given time because non-ace assholes won’t stay the fuck out of the safe space we’ve created for ourselves.
So, I don’t want to hear shit about “uwu the aces need their own spaces” because we’ve done that and you aphobic assholes invade them to bully us.
You don’t want us in your spaces, fine, I get it. Just stay the fuck out of ours as well and don’t pretend that the ace community is the only one with shitty people in it. If you want us to clean our house and keep to ourselves, you’ve got to do the same thing.
We’ve actually had two major run-ins with exclusionist groups.
One group joined, caused chaos, and continuously circumvented rules trying to convince us (staff) not to ban them because they were “entitled to the space” even though half of them were later revealed to be completely allosexual and alloromantic, in a server explicitly for a-specs. This ultimately resulted in them sending outright violent death wishes to some of the staff members.
The second, more recent group was much worse, though.
They:
Infiltrated under completely false pretenses. All of them were part of an exclusionist group, which centered around two charismatic adults with an unhealthy amount of power over the others.
Created a literal hate server for the exclusive purpose of mocking us, as well as formulating weirdly intricate and obsessive plans for hurting the staff and members of the server. (More on the hate server below)
Stalked a member to the server, and relayed private information to their past abusers.
Created a multitude of fake accounts specifically to mock staff members. One in particular was a fake child persona, played by an adult, who was crafted as a mockery of an autistic staff member’s special interests and autistic traits.
Sent threats of violence and suicide baiting to multiple staff members.
Made explicitly sexual comments to multiple underage members in the server.
Posted literal swastikas, antisemitic slurs, and other racist and nazi imagery- all for the sake of causing distress among users.
Stirred up arguments and attacked random users for (usually) extremely minor offenses in an attempt to cause distress and chaos in the server.
In their private hate server, they:
Had a “minors” channel that all adults had access to. Minors were encouraged to use it to discuss personal sex lives.
Had a sexually explicit “adults” channel, and gave select minors access to this channel without their consent.
Held server-wide conversations about personal fetishes lead by adults
Created a flag for one adult’s fetish in collaboration with a minor, and used it as the profile picture for one of the fake accounts in our server- which had users as young as 12 and 13.
(To be clear, staff has cleared all of these members from our server, tightened security, and changed policies to make sure this can’t happen again.)
We have to have something like 12 staff in a server with about 10-25 members online at any given moment.
Exclusionists are not entitled to our spaces, and as long as they continue working to destroy a-spec-only spaces, they don’t get to talk about how we ~should just make our own community.~ We do. We have been. A lot of exclusionists are personally seeking out and destroying them.
(Also, exclusionists can do some nasty shit and need to deal with the predatory grooming and abuse in their communities.)
