HEADCANON!

Moriko has various injuries- it’s expected, after growing up for 18 years just sports sports sports. One of her most noticeable is on her left hand with her ring finger. When she was younger, Moriko and her twin sister used to fight quite a bit- it was just in their nature, and they found fun in it. During one of their fingers, Moriko’s hand caught on the door and she slammed her finger on it.

In result, Moriko’s ring finger (and pinky, to a extent) are crooked, and if you ask her to hold her hand up / have her place her hand flat against a surface, you will see about a .75 cm gap between the tip of her middle finger and her ring finger.

Her right knee has the skin torn up after years of falling on it on concrete, and she has had shoulder injury due to a great amount of strain on her right shoulder during junior high, and she has also had a case of patellar tendinitis (aka jumper’s knee) when she tried out volleyball for her first season.

There’s a visible mark on her hip where she had fell on it and torn up the skin there, and it never healed entirely in regards to visibility.

the easy smile doesn’t seem to convince moriko. or at least, that always seems to happen in regards to moriko, who doesn’t bat an eye at any show of emotion. was there something wrong with her hands? ren had just glanced at her fingers, so is something wrong?

if it’s messing up ren’s sets, then it’s annoying.

“not sure why you’re trying to hide it,” she comments with a shrug. “your sets aren’t your usual. fix them. unless there’s something going on with your hands then we can go to the nurse or something.”

“right, right,” she doesn’t even think to play along, just blinks at the other instead of nodding. all that magic stuff and belief stuff is flying straight over her head.

the third-year looks down at the gift shiki offers, a dream-catcher in lovely colors of orange and yellow. it will probably look nice on the wall in moriko’s house. what did dream-catchers do again? store your dreams for you? or something like that... she seems really proud of it, though.

“i should thank you, though. thanks, oyama... and what is this supposed to do again? i thought this caught dreams not... increase my luck or something.”

“you don’t look like you know what you’re doing,” she shrugs, still faces the audience. “well, i guess, not really... just hasn’t seen you around here before.”

third-year nods, casts a glance out to the court as if she’s checking for her team. when moriko doesn’t spot koitaki, she turns towards the android. “yeah, sure, done with warm-ups and it’s a while until it’s our turn to play. i can just take you up there.”

she turns without any look behind her to check that he’s following. “what team are you here to watch?”

headcanon! moriko + hair.

moriko’s hair is no way by straight in any way- it’s curly. there aren’t many fcs that demonstrate the type of hair she has, but it’s a solid mix between wavy and curly. as it is cut short, some people may not notice the curliness from a distance.

here are some examples of what moriko’s hair actually looks like: here, here, here, here (please note that this person is not moriko’s faceclaim).

she has always kept it short since she was young, having gone from having her hair a little above her shoulders, to barely touching the nape of her neck, to having it at the length it is now, and has worn it / cut it like that for nearly five years now.

oh. rude, someone might guess. but moriko doesn’t know how else to put across the fact that ren’s sets, today, are not doing their greatest. they’re... adequate, in the very least, but not right. they’re fine, but not the best.

the other sounds like he’s reciting a book definition. some might be impressed, but nothing akin to admiration passes through moriko’s mind. he answered her question, and that’s what matters.

“yeah. you’re right, but this is a stadium gym. to have volleyball matches. usually people don’t come unless they want to see our matches.”

“i saw you were watching our warm-ups. usually the audience goes up there,” one finger cranes towards the crowd that’s already gathered. “not near the door in and out of the stadium. if you’re really lost, i can help you up there.”
