Keeping with the psychedelic rock theme, here were a few other designs I made for this event in the style of psychedlic art of the 1960s and 70-s. The first one with the skull witch was inspired by the work of Antoine Sammut, specifically his concert poster for Jefferson Airplane and Jimi Hendrix.
My swingout logo was put on t-shirts, long-sleeves, and hoodies!
My design for an annual reunions event at my chapter of St. Anthony Hall. Done on Adobe Illustrator, with much influence from psychedelic art of the late 1960s.
I made this laser cut piece for my dad for fatherâs day last year. He is an expert and a certified teacher in Japanese tea ceremony, and I took tea lessons with him sporadically from age 6 to age 18. Itâs still something we share and bond over. I drew the Los Angeles tea room we practiced most in and also drew us in kimono, of course him making tea for me. Like usual, I used Adobe Illustrator. I used many photos of tea rooms, kimonos, and objects for reference. The bottom image here shows the laser cut vectors in the 1/8â birch plywood, and the top is after I used water color to liven up the scene. I later super glued an 1/8â clear acrylic protective sheet on top of the finished paintjng so the paint wouldnât come off and the art would stay in tact forever. Today is his birthday, so I am posting this in honor of my awesome dad.
I recently won a ânon-literary artâ award from my literature+arts fraternity, St. Anthony Hall (Delta Psi). It is called the âMacNellyâ award to honor a nobel-prize-winning Delta Psi alumnus, Jeff MacNelly. MacNelly received his nobel prize for his political cartoons. He was also was a great artistic contributor to the fraternity. My prize for this award is an original âShoeâ comic by Jeff MacNelly, seen here. This is the first award of any kind I have won for my art. I won it for my light box of St. Anthony, which I also posted on this blog several months ago.
I laser cut a light box! The layout of the structural elements of the lantern were designed by a colleague of mine at my schoolâs makerspace, but I made designed the sides and the top of the lantern. I made it for my partner, so it has some personal elements in it. I made the suns to resemble the sun on the Uruguayan flag, for my partner has deep ties with that country. I also incorporated elements of Arab geometric design, as I have ties with Morocco and have studied Arab cultures. The outside (the black shadowy part) was cut out of 1/8âł birch plywood that I had painted with black acrylic paint on both sides. The transluscent-ness of the lantern comes from a layer of clear acrylic under the wood that I had frosted using aerosol window frost. The base was cut out of thicker wood, and the bulb and fixture are B16.
I made another nautilus! I decided to make another set of them because I picked up a south asian affairs magazine published at my school (UNC Chapel Hill) that had art in it that inspired me so much that I wanted to collage with them. The magazine is called MONSOON, and you can visit the publicationâs web page here. http://monsoon.web.unc.edu/. Like with my other nautiluses, the base of this one was laser cut out of quarter-inch birch plywood, using an adobe illustrator file I drew myself. The image that spans most of the nautilus is a copy of a screen print of a hindu mythical figure, yet I donât believe it said the name of it in the magazine. I also used gold spray paint, black acrylic paint, black felt (laser cut), and small knick-knacks from my personal collection.

Made this pendant for a friendâs look! Vitruvian man is 3D printed and outer circle/square is laser cut out of clear acrylic. She put it on the string to make it an actual necklace.

About three years ago, I went on birthright with North Carolinaâs Taglit trip. It was my first and only time experimenting with film photography outside using corner store disposable cameras. The trip changed a lot of my perspective on the world, and this photograph captures that for me. This was easily my favorite photograph I took the entire trip. I believe it was in Safed.Â
A lil video I made as a part of a collaborative art series last year. It was inspired by a not-so-guilty-pleasure film. Enjoy!
Theme of the party was âAncient Meme,â so I went with the most ancient meme... I can has cheezburger! Letters were 3D printed and hand painted, burgers were made by hand. Brazier underneath was also handmade. I also laser cut those signs!
