i’m allowed to draw little a romance… as a treat.
The pie has its filling 🔥
movie vs book (i adore them both)
they may be a minor character but they are a major character in my heart
When it seems like the world around you is being shaken to its foundations, the time for self reflection has never been better. I think the drifter understands that. Stay zen people!
“What are these?”
“Oh, those are translation devices but you don’t want ‘em. Complex spellwork by a Wizard that couldn’t quite hack it.”
“Oof. What happened?”
“Well, this one is a simple puzzle cube with what was supposed to be an improved idiomatic translator to more clearly convey the intent of the speaker but the Tongues spell it’s derived from got a little too creative and now it tries to predict the translations that will most likely result in a mutually agreeable solution to any discussion in front of it, and it’s Desired outcomes were weighted wrong and now it tries it’s darnest to get everyone laid as seakily as possible.”
“Oh no.”
“Yeah, we call it the Box of Cunning Linguistics.”
“Aaaaaaugh, that’s awful!”
“Better than the other one though.”
“No.”
“It was supposed to be a device for translating massive amounts of data into choherent patterns expressable in language and it worked ok for a while, but it became increasingly pendantic with it’s explanations to the point of incoherency.”
“Please don’t-”
“Went from being a device fo Analytic Linguistics to a Device of Anal Linguistics.”
“AAAAUGH, that’s so much worse!”
“Yeah, it’s a real pain in the ass to work with.”
quarantine feels kinda like that area between christmas and new years where i have no idea what day of the week it is, or if i’m supposed to be going to work. AM and PM blend together. i’ve taken four naps in 10 hours. leftovers are my primary foodsource. got that weird sunday anxiety except it’s every day for the next 2 weeks

a lot of us are working from home now, pretty abruptly. it’s hard, and especially if you’re like me, a sudden lack of structure coupled with really harsh self-expectations/a tense or unforgiving temperament is really challenging.
i started working from home fulltime this year, and my stop it series is a set of doodled observations i’ve made about the obstacles, bad habits, and unhealthy expectations i’ve found myself running into as i adjust. i hope maybe they can be helpful to other people too!
please check out the linked tag bc i have further observations/clarifications on these in the captions of the individual posts, but i figured it’d be good to finally dump all the notes i’ve made so far into one place.
and a final note on what i’ve run into as i get used to working from home: it is a really really difficult balance for me, bc on one hand i really NEED a lot of self-discipline and productivity assists to get things done and make enough money to survive. but on the other hand, a loooooot of productivity advice/motivation/tools out there are really heavily keyed into capitalism and the concept of productivity as self-worth, and it’s easier than you think to slide into destructive thinking because you’re trying to keep yourself on track. do what you have to do, but make sure that the measures you take to try to make home employment work and get things done are always abt helping yourself do what you need to do without strife, not wringing as much work out of yourself as possible.
