i think my favorite trope in lgbt+ novels is the main character being obviously queer and either having to be fucking told that theyāre not straight or having literally everyone say āoh ur just now realizing that???ā the dumbassery

achilles itās a pointless resistance for you
a dude came into the library stoned out of his mind and was like, ādo I need a library card to look at books?ā And I said, āto take books home, yes. To look at them, noā and he looked so relieved. bro was staring at a fish encyclopedia for like an hour and then just left.
ACHILLES WENT MAD BECAUSE THE OTHER HALF OF HIM WAS RIPPED AWAY AND THE ONLY THING LEFT WAS A WAR WEAPON WHO DIDNT KNOW HOW TO DO ANYTHING EXCEPT KILL. PATROCLUS WAS HIS SOFTER AND BEAUTIFUL SIDE, THE SIDE THAT MADE UP ALL THINGS THAT WERENāT DESTRUCTION, THE SIDE THAT BROUGHT OUT HIS LYRE AND LISTENED TO HIM SING AND WHO LOVED THAT PART OF HIM MORE THAN HIS FAME. PATROCLUS WAS HIS SONG, AND HE COULDNāT PLAY OR FUNCTION WITHOUT IT. THATāS WHY ITāS CALLED THE SONG OF ACHILLES
āI am made of memoriesā
After reading this line it clicked. What makes the song of Achilles even more sad is that for the first time reading it itās a romance. The second time itās tragic because u know the ending. But this time itās even more devastating because itās not even about them living up to the point of death. Itās just Patroclus remembering it all. Remembering Achilles. Every detail about him. Because even in death he would know him.
