EXORSISTA said : " we are the apple of god's eye."
the realist’s approach told him otherwise. the pessimist’s doubt. his lips pursed into a line. contempt withered features once considered civilized, mulling over a generation of grief and suffering. if god did exist, he did not care for you and i. maybe he even revels in the destruction of his children. an abusive father, watching from his high tower ---- drunk on the sin. the detective pressed his thumb into the corner of his eye. ❛ 𝐢 𝐛𝐞𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫. ❜

“ i’ve always been afraid of heights . ”

his wife wanted to be a writer. mostly of the non-fiction variety but she’d read to him explanations of characters and settings. the importance of themes. and of narration. the internal struggle of a protagonist ---- the motivations of an antagonist. a character holds a belief, one that may also follow the theme. usually this character also tells a 𝒍𝒊𝒆. a specific lie to themselves that fuels this belief. and it is up to the storyteller to decide whether or not this belief remains by the end of the story, or is changed. what circumstances bring that change ? what lie do we tell ourselves to fuel a particular belief. what lie does she tell herself ? himself ? he’s leaning back in his chair, twisting a pencil between his fingers. school is in session again. ❛ it’s easier ---- lies, 𝐟𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐞𝐬, they’re all easier to face than truths. the brutal ones. truths that keep you up at night. truth’s about yourself ---- but they wont go away no matter how many lies you have. ❜

photos tucked beneath the seat of his car. posted up by thumbtacks on his wall. he doesn’t covet the dead but he’s put a mental shrine to their ended suffering. strangulation, bludgeoning, and no shorted of blunt force fascination. he’s not sick. but his job allows him to be morbid, and morbid does he become. rust shakes his head, fingering the pages between a sickly yellow folder. always working in some fashion or another. ❛ 𝑖𝑡 𝑠𝑡𝑜𝑝𝑠 𝑏𝑜𝑡𝘩𝑒𝑟𝑖𝑛’ 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑎𝑓𝑡𝑒𝑟 𝑎 𝑤𝘩𝑖𝑙𝑒. ❜ the slow drawl. it has a rasp to it, as though he hasn’t spoken in several hours. days even. he lets out a breath and leaves the file to turn his attention more fully to her. ❛ 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐬 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠. ❜
