Hey, hi, yeah, icon/gif makers?

Stop trying to charge money for the icons and gifs you make.

It is ILLEGAL.

You can sell PSDs and themes and textures and stuff so long as you made them entirely from scratch.

But when you make icons or gifs from TV shows and videos and such? You didn’t make that video, you’re just editing it.

Unless you made every part of something yourself or have been explicitly permitted by the creator(s) to use it for commercial purposes, it is not yours to sell.

Look, I get wanting to make money. The economy’s a trainwreck. If you want, @dear-indies has a post right here that gives you alternate options for making money on tumblr, and you can always put up a link to your PayPal or Ko-fi for optional donations.

But I see so many posts here (the “#rp icons” tag is the worst offender by far from what I’ve seen) of people putting up icon packs for sale or offering to make them for commissions. And you can’t do that.
