I did a writing exercise because I’ve really been struggling with my writing beibg stale and I made it Rabbot van horn because a mutual has slowly been pulling me to the dark side via their own fanfics (go check out @write-starlight-riots for their awesome Rabbot van horn fics) and decided to post it so here.
His eyelids were heavy as he came to, warmth radiated from every side of him. Some of it had to be his own, but he knew a lot of it had to be Jesse and Mikey. He sighed through his nose, he opened his eyes slowly. Sunlight fluttering across his peripheral. Jack blinked a few times, adjusting to the sudden light and taking to studying the room. He wasn’t at home in his and Robby’s regular bed, they must be in Jesses. He saw a guitar hanging above the window and concluded he was probably right.
The warmth threatened to take Jack under again, but he moved an arm, sliding it out from someone's body to scrub his face, itching at his jaw as he turned his head properly. He could tell the sun was just barely rising, painting the room in vibrant hues of oranges and pinks, the summer sun breathing a kind of life into him.
Jack was a little red, skin soft and well slept in, making the perfect home for his heart that felt an unreasonable, but welcomed, kind of fullness. He could hear his husband breathing besides him, and a second set of lungs – besides his own – that breathed with the same air of relaxation. Jesse. His brain caught up to his body as he remembered the night before.
The three of them basked in the night as clothes were rushed off and words of care and love were exchanged. In the quiet of the morning Jack let himself blush, a lovesick smile spreading across his face as he reached out to feel down Jesse’s spine.
He turned his head once more, able to see out of the corner of his eye his own graying curls. But slowly his eyes focused on Jesse, the blanket was shuffled off, leaving plenty of warm pinkish skin for Jack to bask in. He could see the small nodule of his spine near the base of Jesse’s neck – he made a mental note to tell Jesse to get some better proteins and fats – and followed it with his fingers. Feather light as not to wake him. Just beyond his shoulders were his own set of white curls. Mused through and loved. He reached up just barely, finger brushing the hairline and then traveling back down to continue following the length of his spine. Jesse was slender, all limbs and lean meat. His shoulders and hips poked out a little, Jack felt the small raise of tattoo lines and looked down at Jesse’s hip where there was a small crab tattoo. He contained a snort and took to looking at the light just beyond his lover.
The light fell near the edges of his skin, lighter in that area, like some sort of rim lighting, and fell along his back. Jack’s fingers traced the line of light, smiling to himself as he did so.
He feels a hand sneak up on his own waist, thin but heavy fingers landing just under the elastic of his boxers. He feels lips against his ear and turns his head just slightly.
“Shh… he’s still sleeping,” Jack’s voice is hushed, in no rush to wake Jesse or ruin this moment. He sees Robby’s entirely earnest eyes, big and doe, sparking just above a pair of rosy cheeks that have marks left on them from his pillow.
Robby nods slowly, pressing his nose to the space between Jack’s jaw and neck “mhmmm…”
Jack feels Robby’s hand on him like a weight, entirely comfortable and safe. He runs his fingers up and down Jesse’s back as they continue to lay in the mellow warmth, his husband’s forehead pressed to the crown of his head. Robby was somewhere between asleep and awake, either way, the two of them were entirely content.
“We’re lucky y’know…” Jack speaks with a gentle intonation. The candor of his voice slow.
Robby hummed again, his response only a low grumble that made Jack grin ear to ear.
“Yeah… yeah I do,” Robby muttered, he pulled his hands from Jack’s waistband, instead placing it on his shoulder and sliding it down slowly until he could intertwine his fingers with Jack’s, their hands staying on Jesse’s waist. In his trail Robby left goosebumps, the rise of Jack’s love coming to the surface in way of these little bumps that made him shiver.
They lay like that for a while, Jack basking in the light like a lazy old cat. Eyes shut, simply resting, when he felt a third hand join. Jesse was no doubt awake, shifting to get more comfortable, rest his joints and fix the small crick in his neck, Jack and Robby stayed silent, waiting and watching.
“Morning,” Jesse says, voice rocky and rough from sleep.
“Morning,” Jack responds, though Robby only grumbles, rubbing his beard against Jack’s shoulder.
“Maisie…” Jesse went to move but his attempt fell flat, instead replaced with the weight of his just waking body.
Jack can’t help but smile, warming from the inside out. “I’ll do it, stay here-”
Jack sat up, he carefully unwound himself from Robby, kissing the apple of his cheek as he let go of his hand “she has chicken and freshly cooked rice with her vitamins in the morning and fancy vegetarian shit at night, don’t worry man. I got it.”
Jesse turned fully onto his back, giving Jack enough time to look at his face, all puffy and scrunched up as he tried to adjust to the light. But none-the-less. Ridiculously beautiful.
“Of course. Just relax,” Jack leaned down once more, pressing a few gentle kisses to Jesse’s face. Basking in the light that radiated from him.
