also i am now left to wonder how much kate knows about hal's everything but policy and also how often he's utilized it over the years because he knows her well enough to pick out her ideal affair partner instantly. so when she says it might be easier if only he had affairs now i need to know...is that because she agrees that it doesn't count otherwise? or that it would only count if feelings were involved? or because she doesn't know him as well as it seems like she does? as well as he knows her? and if not, is that because she's more self-focused, or less observant, when you wouldn't necessarily expect him to be better at either of those things?
I have many questions too. I think she 100% knows what the rules are and what his rules are. And doesn't care at all, because she knows he loves her and only her. Part of my theory, anyway.
i don't think i even considered that i might enjoy another bridgerton love interest more than i did kate in season two but sophie 'i leisure perfectly' baek is a fucking treasure

lol that was my thought too and I am here for any epic, no-lyrics and only the music, additions of TS songs ANYWHERE
I downloaded Blowtorch and then followed all of the instructions for installing it and it didn't work. Instead, after I put the The Sims 4 files in my game files, replacing the original that was there, it made me re-install my game. Completely. I don't know what I did wrong, so I would like some advice. If there's somewhere else to reach out to you, please let me know. I want this to work because I want to be able to recommend it for an Islander Decades Project I'm building.
Hi! Do you have Windows or Mac? What Sims 4 files did you move, and what do you mean with "game files"? Sims 4 Game Files are installed normally in C:\Program Files\EA Games\The Sims 4 - as per the documentation that comes with Blowtorch, this is where you need to install the Blowtorch files, which should overwrite the files needed. You are not supposed to move anything. You can check where you have your Sims 4 files if you are unsure on the EA start screen.

and then see:
Hope this will help! Happy simming!
PC. I mean the literal action of moving your Blowtorch Sims 4 file into my game files (where Sims 4 is located) like it says to do in your post about installing Blowtorch. You know, you say to copy and paste it in the Sims 4 game files. Did I misread that? Anyways, it's fine. I'll either figure it out or I won't. Ah well. Like I said, I wanted to be able to rec this mod for a Sims 4 Challenge I am building. Can't rec it if I can't understand it. It's fine. Thank you for your response and for the help you've tried to give. It's possible I misread something or that I interpreted your instructions wrong. Thanks again.
which could mean nothing

One of the sections that was removed from the U.S. Constitution website referenced the writ of habeas corpus.
This is true.
I checked Snopes because I (naively) thought “yeah but this must have been fixed by now,” and uh, nope! As far as I can tell, those kind of important bits are still missing.
“no one’s ever mad at me unless they tell me so” is the best assumption i’ve ever made
sorry for tagwatching but you still have to act like they aren’t mad at you imo! bc it’s the mad person’s duty to make it known if they want anything changed. it is never anyone’s duty to be a mind reader.
If I am mad at someone and am remaining Quiet about it, it is because I Do Not Want them to know that I’m mad.
Please respect my boundaries and assume that I am Not mad.
If you’re worried that I am mad, consider the possibility that I am mad for reasons I know are stupid and do not want to make it your problem.
Ohhh that last addition opens my eyes in a big way, thank you.
An advantage to going out to eat sometimes that I don’t often see people mention is that it can be cheaper if you want to eat something you don’t eat very often.
Like I don’t eat blueberry bagels with cream cheese every day but I do sometimes. Sure I could spend 4 bucks on a really good package of bagels and another 4 bucks on a package of cream cheese I won’t finish or I could drive over to Uncle Harry’s and get one bagel with cream cheese for 2 bucks.
Sure if I did it myself it would be less than 2 bucks per bagel but I don’t eat bagels every day so I’d be paying 8 bucks to let some bagels and cream cheese rot in my house.
Yes you could make your own latte at home but then you’d have to buy an espresso machine. And do you drink lattes often enough to justify that kind of purchase? Do you even have the disposable income to justify saving up for that purchase? Do you have the device needed to grind the beans fine enough? Can you afford that? Do you even buy milk regularly or do you only drink it in a latte?
In many cases paying someone else to do something for you makes perfect sense.
Yes you can make copycat Chinese takeout at home but do you personally cook with oyster sauce often enough to justify that kind of investment? Are you prepared to have that big package of noodles sitting around? For some people it makes perfect sense to own a wok for daily use, for others it doesn’t.
It’s not purely a convenience. It’s saving money on things you don’t need in your daily life.
I eat Ethiopian food maybe once a year. Am I gonna special order teff flour and make injera bread myself just for that? No! I’m gonna get takeout from the local Ethiopian place.
It's my 12 year anniversary on Tumblr 🥳
The news is hitting me very hard as someone who has lost a lot of family members to prostate cancer. I am kinda devastated it’s likely going to take Biden as well. Stage four prostate cancer is not as bad as many other stage four cancers but it’s still not great. Once it metastasizes to the bone the five year survival rate is 33%. In good news it sounds like the version of the cancer he has is hormone treatable which will help. I obviously don’t know the specifics of his exact situation which will dramatically change his chances. Also if he moves forward with treatment it can be brutal and many older people decline it which is a decision I will always respect.
I can’t help thinking how unfair Biden’s life has been. His wife and daughter died in the car crash literally the day he was sworn into senate, and then he would later have one of his sons die to cancer. And then he has gone and done so much good work for America that was never appreciated. And I’m already up set about how much Trump and his camp are going to be disrespectful about this, how much the news are going to be disrespectful over this. It just feels so unfair. I don’t know I’m pretty angry all around about this. It’s hard watching right now as the worst of America gets rewarded and seeing this.
I just hope Biden the best no matter what happens.
Okay okay I've got one I think will be fun!!
Spin this wheel of like 160ish fandoms of varying levels of popularity.
Could you write a convincing 1-2k word fic for this fandom?
Yes, easy, I've read/watched/played this piece of media and could write for it!
Yes, I know enough about it through fandom/internet osmosis that I could BS 1k
Eh, I could TRY but someone who knew the media would know I was BSing
No, I've heard of this media but I don't know enough about it to BS a fic
I have never heard of this media in my life
Nuance option??
Extra points for telling me all about your thoughts in the tags :D

When Donald Trump reentered office, one of his first calls to action was to end several DEI initiatives in the federal government.
'This won't work, this isn't widespread, nobody knows, we're in a bubble, blah blah blah' my mom, a 64 year old lady with no social media whose first language is spanish, told me about this before tumblr did, and said we are going to participate.
I've seen flyers for this in real life. Do it.
Hey, married women: Go apply for your passport.
The SAVE Act has passed in The House. It makes it illegal for a woman whose last name does not match her birth name to vote as a "citizenship verification measure." The main way around it is being able to present your passport at the polls since that proves your citizenship.
Look up your Senators here and raise hell on their phone lines about this blatant attempt to disenfranchise millions of women:
https://www.congress.gov/members/find-your-member
wow this is an extremely blatant voter suppression bill. it makes extreme modifications to the motor voter act to make it significantly harder to register to vote for everyone, not just women. it's so patriotic that it even disenfranchises military personnel!
here's a summary of house rep morelle's (NY-D) comments from the hearing on july 10, 2024 when this passed the house. this bill would:
prevent most americans from registering to vote using only a driver's license, including REAL ID-compliant licenses
require additional documentation beyond standard photo IDs to prove citizenship
only accept passports as standalone proof of citizenship, which only 48% of americans have (nice middle finger to the 130 million citizens who don't have one)
prevent military personnel from using military IDs alone, requiring they also provide records showing US birthplace. new registrants deployed overseas will be unable to register due to in-person requirements
prevent native americans' tribal IDs from being accepted unless they show place of birth in the US, which most don't
screw over married women as described by OP
and for what? what great threats are there to the Integrity and Security of our federal elections that inspire this bill? let's hear it from rep steil (WI-R) in his opening remarks:
First, I point you to a 1996 congressional race in California where an investigation by this body revealed that 624 noncitizens voted in that congressional election. I also point you to a race less than 4 years ago where our colleague from Iowa won by six votes.
ohhh shit. ohhh FUCK! yeah we definitely need to disenfranchise millions of people over this.
see which fuckers voted "yes" in voter role call 345. all republicans voted yes, 5 democrats voted yes, and 10 democrats didn't vote.
follow the bill's progress on congress.gov under HR 8281
as OP mentioned, find your senators and raise hell
And if you're a woman and planning to get married, DON'T CHANGE YOUR NAME. Unless you've been desperately longing to get rid of your name your whole life, or your husband's name is absolutely perfect, don't change it. You could be socially known as Mrs. Hisname but legally still be Yourfirstname Yourlastname, and tricks like this won't catch you. And best of all? The amount of work it takes to accomplish this is none. Zero. Negative work. You do absolutely nada and your name doesn't change.
Your children can still carry his name if you want
People at school will most often call you "Childname's Parent" rather than "Mrs. Childlastname" anyway
Your credit cards and drivers license and all the other pieces of your identity don't have to be replaced
The only issue you'll ever encounter is that once in a while to get a married couple discount at a gym or something maybe you'll need to present your marriage certificate, so don't lose it
Your mother in law does not need to know what your legal name is if you're going by his last name socially
Your work email address won't change
I mean, I kinda wonder why any woman with ADHD ever would change her name anyway, seems like a giant pain in the ass.
As you know, because you are on Tumblr and therefore you know some trans people, it is quite possible to socially go by one name and legally go by another. In fact if you know anyone with a nickname, you know this fact. Well, it works for last names too.
(If you don't want to be known socially by his last name either... more power to you, sister! There need to be more of us that just never changed our fucking names at all. But if you do want to take his name... don't take it legally. The US government currently is run by people who think Handmaid's Tale didn't go far enough. Protect yourself.)
someone on twitter is trying to claim that use of an em-dash is an indication of AI-generated writing because it’s “relatively rare” for actual humans to use it. skill issue
I can admit this is a little out of hand, but I promise AI didn't write my 150k fic 😂
Reblog if you're a human that uses em-dashes
all the damn time, actually. It's weird, I guess - how often I uses dashes just in general?
Hey everyone, I know it's going to be a busy day for a lot of people, but Google enrolled everyone over 18 into their AI program automatically.
If you have a google account, first go to gemini.google.com/extensions and turn everything off.
Then you need to go to myactivity.google.com/product/gemini and turn off all Gemini activity tracking. You do have to do them in that order to make sure it works.
Honestly, I'm not sure how long this will last, but this should keep Gemini off your projects for a bit.
I saw this over on bluesky and figured it would be good to spread on here. It only takes a few minutes to do.
Writers: It's asking to read your Google Docs and be able to 'summarize' things from them and such things. I just turned all mine off.
Oklahoma is attempting to pass a bill that would ban explicit romance novels. Authors, narrators, and sellers could all face fines of up to $100,000 and up to 10 years in jail for each instance.
If you live in OK, call your representative and tell them this bill should not be allowed to pass.
This is likely a test case. Republicans will try to pass it in OK and if it passes other states will likely try to pass similar laws.
In the meantime, get physical copies of books you like. Download those pdfs. Archive your AO3 stories and keep them on a physical hard drive. (Storing those files in the cloud could be problematic in the future as the company managing the cloud service can see what your files are)
A bill proposed by Oklahoma Sen. Dusty Deevers, R-Elgin, seeks to raise punishment for child pornography but also aims to ban pornography al
@thebibliosphere
I know this doesn’t apply to any of the romance authors on here, but I really hope the Twitter/tiktok authors who cheered on the porn bans and told the rest of us we were crazy to “fear monger” that Romance would fall under fire are having a very “stub your toe for the rest of your natural lives” kind of day.
I am anti this bill so hard. Using the law to decide for others what they get to read or write? That's disgusting.
