is it ok to hate lestat without having watched vampire interviewed
Yes please hate him with all of your heart and before you go to bed tonight pray that he kills himself
you do not have to justify your identity to anyone. you are you, and that is more than enough
the thing about art is that sometimes you'll be moved to tears by stuff that is not very good
cold.. jealous of printer paper.. imagine getting slid through a machine and you come out all warm.. they don't even know how good they have it.

Mood: Kaveh (´-ω-`)
One of my favorite arguments in favor of solid ships is "do you imagine a world where they find a person they love more than each other?"
In the case of Kaveh and Alhaitham, this is pretty straightforward. I LOVE Kaveh, but this guy can canonically not stop ranting about Alhaitham. Other characters have commented on it, how Kaveh brings Alhaitham up in every other conversation... Kaveh drinks heavily too, makes bad financial calls and most crucially, feels like nobody in the entire world truly understands him. He has this tortured artistic soul thing going for him, and struggles to find anybody who he feels simply 'gets it'.
If Kaveh went on a date, how long would it take for him to bring up Alhaitham? And if he didn't and if it worked out, would he really be able to find another human being who's as patient with him? As willing to provide and carry him home from the tavern, someone who can and is willing to put in copious effort to overthrow Alhaitham for thr title of "knows Kaveh best?"
Not really.
On Alhaitham's end it's even more obvious, the suggestion he might open up to allow literally anyone else into his space is borderline ridiculous. Alhaitham tolerates most people, the fact he invited Kaveh to live with him and is spending all this mental and physical energy on them is telling enough. Do you imagine Alhaitham ever caring for someone more than he does for Kaveh? No. Absolutely not.
Point made.
I'd like to add that Kaveh would absolutely throw himself into whatever relationship he gets into. Which sounds kind of cute at first, but then he'd oscillate between trying to please them and feeling guilty about doing too much but also not enough at the same time. He'd unknowingly create a rift between himself and the other person by putting too much pressure on himself.
That's not even going into how other people genuinely don't understand him (and not just in romance either). I feel like a romantic relationship with someone other than Alhaitham could be fulfilling in some aspects- but ultimately come up short. It would only be a fraction of what he wanted from a relationship.
Alhaitham cuts through a lot of that by not coddling him but also not completely leaving Kaveh to his own devices. (You could argue Alhaitham is a master at safeguarding and harm reduction at this point. But that's a whole different conversation.) As OP says, Alhaitham's affection is NOT subtle to those who know his character. He doesn't just passively tolerate Kaveh. No, he actively wants him in his life.
I like how Childe wants to become stronger for strength's sake. Whereas Lohen covets power because it's a means of control. His questionable behaviour becomes easier to understand from that angle; Everything he does is an attempt to hold onto control, to never let anybody over power him ever again.
Though, it is interesting how he equates mortality to powerlessness. Plenty of people in teyvat are mortal yet possess great strength. Is it the idea that old age will claim his bones some day like it did with Adorno? (and Varka, to some extent)
Or does the looming threat of death make him uncomfortable? He was attracted to the Ursa serum for the enhanced strength. But the prolonged lifespan definitely sweetened the deal.
Was the pink fox always this handsy?
