claudia always hated louis which is why she came back home after seeing grace abandoning him. claudia always hated louis whis is why she spent years with him helping him recover after lestat dropped him from the sky. claudia always hated louis which is why she tried to stop lestat from coming back in their home. claudia always hated louis which is why she worried about his happiness in paris. claudia always hated louis which is why she came back to visit him after she left with madeleine. claudia always hated louis which is why she still tried to defend him during the trial...
[Question: Uh, hi. Your live audience at the minute seems to be mostly women, maybe 70%, 80%. Do you think that makes a difference to, like, the vibe in the room? Does it make a difference to what you do and say on stage?]
Gerard: You know, I— Yeah, and it's— and you know, um, I've noticed more it's more so. It used to be a little bit more mixed with men and women, now it's largely a women-only audience. I had a talk with my therapist about this (audience laughs), and I said, I said, "What's that about?"
And, uh, no, it came up because I was working on a project and it involved, um, either a transgender character or two very strong female lead characters. And I— I had been talking about why, you know, why why do I write these kinds of characters? Why am I— why do I connect stronger with women?
And she was like, "That's just what your art does." Like, you're not— she basically explained to me, "You're not trying to do that. You're not sitting there going, 'How do you write for a woman audience?' You're just sitting there and doing what you do, and that's just who responds to it. You can't alter the course of that, and you can't think about anything— think about anything more than just doing it," you know? So there's— you know, there's some reason, and I don't question it. I just kind of make what I make, and it's— it's nice to, you know, be— that it's enjoyed by so many women… and really cool guys!
