I decided to cover Nowhere Man by The Beatles. I also decided I didn’t need instruments.
I did the thing. I covered the Pokémon theme.
Come Say Hello - This is a work in progress, but I think it sounds good so I'm posting what I have. Apparently it sounds very 70's.
Hyrule Field Theme - Originally written by Koji Kondo for Zelda 64: Ocarina of Time, I decided to see how well I remembered this piece, so I didn't actually listen to the original before or while I was recording this track... In other words, this is the Hyrule Field Theme as my brain remembered it. Enjoy!
Fantasia in D minor -This was my senior orchestral composition at Antioch, and is probably the best thing I've ever made. It damn well better be, since it took 4 months to write. Dr. James Johnston is conducting, and that's me at the piano, though my hair was much longer. This was recorded in 2006, although the camera seems to be from 1989.
Don't Change Your Mind - This is probably my favorite of all the songs I've written. It's totally a 4 chord pop song, but it's MY 4 chord pop song. You better damn well go listen to it, it's fantastic.
Long Beach - This has to be one of my favorites. I wrote this a long time ago, but I re-recorded it about two years ago. It's about the time when I was in Long Beach during the Grand Prix, and there were tons of people there. I played a lot of music at a place, and then didn't get paid at first, with the excuse that "no one had heard of" me. I got my money, though. As for the recording, yes I'm specifically referencing the Beach Boys. No, Brian Wilson, you can't have any money. You already have enough, go away.
Harvey Battles The Velociraptors - Another example of a song for which the title has nothing to do with the content, this is a weird orchestral thing I wrote several years ago because I was bored. I'm not sure what I was drinking, thinking, smoking, toking, or generally altering my consciousness with when I made this one. Was I on cocaine? I certainly couldn’t afford drugs like that back then. What is with this track? Why does it sound weird? Was my computer smoking something too?
It may or may not belong in a movie. I think it does, at least some parts. There's other parts that probably suck. I dunno, it's 15 minutes long, it can't all be good. Can it? Yes? well, thank you, that's the best compliment I've ever had.
Billy Mays Here - BILLY MAYS HERE WITH ANOTHER EXCELLENT PRODUCT. PRESENTING A NEW TRACK CALLED 'BILLY MAYS HERE!' YOU CAN LISTEN TO IT! YOU CAN LOAD IT ON YOUR IPOD! YOU CAN PLAY IT IN YOUR CAR! YOU CAN EVEN TYPE IN ALL CAPS AND READ AS LOUD AS I SOUND!! BUT THAT'S NOT ALL! LISTEN RIGHT NOW, AND WE'LL THROW IN ANOTHER LISTEN! FOR FREE! THAT'S RIGHT, JUST CLICK THE PLAY BUTTON AGAIN! 'BILLY MAYS HERE' WILL SATISFY YOUR CRAVING FOR TV AD MUSIC, GUARANTEED, OR YOUR MONEY BACK! LISTEN NOW!!
Super Sonic 32 Bit - Some more video game music, because I think it's cool. It reminded me a little bit of a track from Sonic the Hedgehog, though I don't remember which one.
Piano R&B Track - This was one of the pieces I composed for a female R&B singer a few years ago. We ended up developing some other stuff that I can't find right now. I really like the beat on this one, though.
Frantic Racing Game - This track was for a futuristic racing game, but it will probably go to something completely different now. It's one of my few attempts at anything approaching trance/EDM music at all, but I think it turned out well. Tip: You probably need your subwoofer for this one.
Piano improv in 2012 - This is me tearing up the keys about two years ago. I jammed my phone in between two keys to record this. I kind of wish I had gotten a MIDI of it, too... it's pretty cool.
Who Knows - I think I was listening to Ben Folds' "Fear of Pop" album when I made this. It's mostly synths... I'm such a hipster.
Just Fking Around Jazz - At least this is what I named the file when I recorded it a few years ago... I was jamming over a simple drum/bass loop for about 15 minutes, didn't even realize I was recording. Had I noticed, I probably would have been too self conscious about screwing up. There's a bit of latency in a few parts, but don't worry... I wasn't drinking, my MIDI interface was.
Cosmic Goat Raga - Despite its title, this piece has little to do with goats, and even less to do with ragas. You probably won't know the difference, though. Don't lie. That's me on tablas, flute, some weird zither harp thing I heavily modified, and I played whatever that thing is that sounds like a drunk violin at the end, too.
Tacos and Pasta - This song is named for what I was eating at the time, and was written for my friend to play at her art show.
