CotL comics- Family? Family?! Family!!!(ep.15~16)

ENG: Since the title of the comic is “Family,” I really wanted to include a story about the bishop family. After all, the bishops are the main characters of this comic. Of course, in my comic Narinder didn’t see the bishops as family from the beginning, but through his conversations with the Lamb, he comes to understand what family truly means. Even though their bond was originally one forced by the crown, they end up discovering a connection deeper than blood. And I think Narinder shedding heavy tears as he mourns their deaths might be one of the highlights of this comic. Sure, the Lamb could have brought them back to life, but Narinder believes that letting them rest in peace is his true form of atonement, so he asks the Lamb to do so. Because Narinder’s journey of accepting the bishops as family ties directly into the title “Family,” I wanted to emphasize that theme through this episode.

The epilogue that follows was added because I felt the original protagonist, the Lamb, didn’t get enough narrative focus. The Lamb avenged their kind and ultimately became the one true god, but the beings around them continue to change and disappear. In the end, they would have felt a deep loneliness, realizing that no one would remember them anymore. The Lamb never originally sought to become a god like Narinder; their only goal was to avenge their kind. That’s why, after the revenge was complete, the loneliness and the weight of an endless life must have been especially hard to bear. At that moment, the Lamb remembers that Narinder is also an immortal being and smiles, saying, “I’m glad you’re here.” Just knowing there is someone who will stay by their side would ease the fear of an endlessly repeating life. In the final scene, I wanted to place the bishops’ graves, Narinder, and the Lamb together in one image, to show both the family of the past and the newly formed family at the same time.
