Maine’s Acadia National Park has 158 miles of hiking trails, but the STAR of the show is this northern park’s night sky. Acadia possesses remarkably dark skies for its proximity to Portland, Boston, and New York. The Milky Way dazzles visitors and reminds us just how large our “home” galaxy truly is. Viet Thanh Nguyen’s The Committed picks up the story from his Pulitzer Prize-winning The Sympathizer. Our nameless hero – now a refugee in Paris – is grappling with questions of identity and history, while also dealing with grittier concerns in the Parisian underworld. Check out Thúy Đinh’s review here.

S.B. Divya’s debut novel is set in a version of the future that seems unsettlingly plausible – a world where chemical buffs and implants help people survive in an overclocked gig economy. But everything is turned upside down when a mysterious organization called The Machinehood demands change.
“That Machinehood goes on to upend long-established laws of robotics, question longstanding political machinations, establish a credible voyeurism-based sub-economy, and take us on a thrilling who-done-it through the advent of the singularity are only a few of the novel’s accomplishments,” says our critic Fran Wilde – check out her full review here.

Congratulations to the Golden Globe winning Schitt’s Creek!
My heart aches
- 6.55am on a Sunday morning
My 7 year old: tapping my shoulder, waking me up - “Daddy, we did it!”
Me: bleary eyed and confused - “we did what?”
My 7 year old: “We woke up! Now we can go to the store and buy Hot Wheels!”
They’re earnest and naive only once...

TSK: 20,000 Covidiots Under the Sea
Cranquis: Even though you want to wait to see your pulmonologist next week about this new shortness of breath – instead of doing ANYTHING I’ve recommended today – I still want to test you for COVID-19 before you leave my Urgent Care. I know the specialist’s clinic will not see you with these symptoms unless you get tested first.
SOB with SOB: Nope (pant) I don’t want it (puff) because covid (wheeze) is a hoax.
Cranquis:
Rn we have 40something patient on ventilator. Last week he was fine. The whole fam is positive. He isn’t obese and doesn’t have any comorbidities. Immunology tests are pending.
Few days ago I had a shift and this dude came in with a week long fevers and chills and nothing more. Lab was normal. Covid positive. He is doing fine rn but it can literally go south anyday.
When friends or family call and ask me if I thi k that it is safe to travel i am always like fuck no. It isnt. The fact that airplane tickets are super cheap and a lot of countries are lifting bans is not bc we have under control but bc capitalism.
It’s like… Humanity as a whole decided to act stupid.
It’s been the most unpatriotic, lazy and self centered thing I’ve seen. Instead of the country rising up and saying “let’s whoop this thing” it’s been more of “I don’t wanna” and “wah, my feelings, mask ouchie.”
But it speaks to a larger truth. The rich aren’t 100% at fault, nor the illegals, or any other scapegoat for that matter. This country as a whole has no spine. No work ethic. No principles. Very little care for their neighbor. Easily duped. And very proud of it.
It’s the truth.
I miss New York City.
By now, my wife and I would have visited at least twice, walked through our favorite neighborhoods, rode the subways for miles, sat at our favorite coffee shops and found more reasons to love the city.
We’d return with the kids, hit the diners and playgrounds they love, and of course, we’d be on a rowboat in Central Park looking for turtles.
Can’t go back, obviously. Not now, but when?
I was supposed to be in the city, on September 11th, to pick up my deposit from the apartment I just vacated. I didn’t make it back for another two weeks, and it was a ghost town. It didn’t feel like the city’s energy returned until maybe 2,3 years ago. How long will it take this time?
I have every console between the Atari and Switch, and a gaming machine, but the console I spent the most time on is my PSP.
I should graph these things, so when next time I say “ooh I want this!” I can’t look at my chart and say, no you really don’t...
I didn’t let go
You know, I had to log back into tumblr to find a quote once, and realized I left on a very morose point in my life.
As it so happened, I didn’t let go, and neither did she. We got married, and just celebrated our anniversary.
I can’t say I knew when to hold, or knew when to fold - but if you love her, let her go. And work on yourself! Be a better version of the last person she knew. And if it’s meant to be, she may just come back (hopefully as a better version of herself, too).

Too many words
But the same feeling. Pick me. Pick me!
Every moment with you is not just a singular moment in time and space. I want to have these moments over and over again. Revisit them with you when I am older, and re-experience them next year, and the next decade with you, and you alone.
I’ve seen your soul: at its best, at its worst, and everything in between.
You’ve seen my soul: at its best, at its worst, and everything in between.
Conventional wisdom tells me: Let her go. But, how could I let her go, when the promise of something amazing still holds?
