True Confessions of a Photographer...
I never use my 50 mm lens!
Let’s make this a thing by rebloging this and add your own Confessions of a Photographer.
I have absolute zero knowledge of photoshop.
I never shoot in manual mode and I use a free online editor.
I love this! I’m with Babalou, I can’t make you thinner, or erase your age in Photoshop…. I don’t want to! And because of this I have no confidence as a 21st century photographer.
I never shot in full manual mode. I shot in fully automatic, sometimes, or in “shutter priority” position, mostly. I have never edited in photoshop, I use an old version of Paint Shop Pro. I am incapable of editing from raw, so I always shot in jpg. I have no tripod, but I would accept one as a christmas present.
Excellent!
I often shoot in landscape but normally crop to portrait because photos are presented better in portrait on Tumblr.
I don’t ever shoot in Raw.
I prefer editing photos to taking photos…
I hate to carry tripod but I like a lot to make nocturnals.
I hate built in flash.
I don’t know if the love of traveling is bigger than the love of photography.
no idea or patience for photoshop, lightroom et al.
always have the x10 with me, and 2 additional accu pacs, two settings: a user defined b&w and a multi purpose color one
Installed Lightroom once but bumped it off my computer again because it was trying to take over everything.
Sometimes I carry up to five cameras with me (if cell phones are allowed to be included).
I don’t like changing lenses in the field and usually don’t carry any with me. Which means that I often end up having the wrong lens on the camera for what comes in front of it.
Both of my inherited light meters are broken. Which means that all my shots with the Leica IIf are based on guesswork.
Never used photoshop, I like to get really close to my subjects in street photography (Ricoh GR or Fuji X100), love hip shooting.
No tripods, love blurs, never respect “technical rules”
Study art, don’t study photography
1) I like old cameras and try to only collect ones on the cheap.
2) I constantly doubt my abilities
More often than not I forget my second pack of recharchable batteries at home so I end up frustrated and unable to shoot many awesome stuff that by Murphy´s Law appears to happen when I run out of them.
That also happens with my lenses, I usually forget the ones I need the most for the shooting.
I´m always in a hurry because of my personal life, and many of the photos you see posted on my blog are taken with my kids nudging or bumping into me. I have a tripod that I barely use because of that reason. I just don´t have the time to “think” a picture.
I only use Photoshop for my B&W pics, I learnt the editing in Youtube tutorials.
I usually shoot in portrait mode because it looks better in Tumblr. Recently I met a very famous awarded Spanish photographer and he told me to NEVER do that again. That I (and everybody else ) should shoot landscape almost always to improve my skills. I´m trying, but it´s hard.
It takes me at least 25 attempts to load a roll of film !
I prefer to be alone when taking photos, or with another photographer. It is almost always so instantaneous, my finding something I want to capture. There is a flow, a nirvana/zen to it, that is completely about me, my camera, and what I am seeing. One of the rare times I was comfortable taking photos while a non-photographer was around was when @guisch73‘s husband, Steffen, was with us. He is used to Guido wandering around and taking photos, so the three of us got along great when we were on our day trips. It sounds awful, but every so often I completely forgot he was there and just focused on my photography. No pun intended.
I get uncomfortable when others, almost always people who are not photographers, suggest I should take a picture of this or that. When they tell me “You have to take a picture of such and such place (or thing)” I know they mean well, they have the best intentions but I cannot bring myself to pretend to be interested.
I love my very old, almost a decade old camera and its cheap kit lens. They take great photos, but I think eventually I may have to buy something newer, more professional. This bothers me a bit because
I shoot almost exclusively in P mode. I every so often use shutter priority, but almost always use P mode. I have no idea what most of my cameras features do and have not interest in learning about them. This is why
I am not certain about getting a newer camera, even though it would be great to go from 6 MP to 24MP or more.
If I had to shoot film, I would not be a good photographer (I tried twice and sucked so bad I gave it up), especially if I had to develop my own film. I am able to capture good images because of digital cameras (I shoot RAW) and PhotoShop RAW.
I have Lightroom, but have not yet figured it out. (Sorry, @tvoom.) It is just too many bells and whistles for me.
I never use photoshop, I do not even know how. I have never taken a single art class.
Currently spinning. Fantastic album
