If there was one thing Adelaide could always get out of Aiden it was a smile. There were other things and people that made Aiden laugh, obviously. He wasnât a robot but there were times Aiden would fake laugh or put on a smile for appearances. There were times heâd joke around with people or be sarcastic just to hide what was really going on in his head. It always brought him back to something his mother told him many times when he was a kid. Sarcasm is just a nice way to say someone is fibbing about something not so subtly and Aiden happened to be a pretty sarcastic person. It was like hiding behind a mask and not having to say anything real or saying it but saying it in some sort of code not many would catch onto. That worked for the male, but that was besides the point right now. The point of right now was that hanging out with Adelaide he didnât have to wear the masks or play pretend.Â
He wanted to be a better person around her and some would say that is a big act on Aidenâs part but he didnât feel the weight that usually came along with pretending. When he was around her it felt light, like they were having fun. The jokes and teasing were actually jokes and teasing not methods of hiding inner emotions and the smiles and laughs were genuine. It was probably why they clicked so well. Aiden was comfortable around her. Although, there were moments he feared he wouldnât be the type of person sheâd wanna hang around. Not that she wouldnât make it clear if he was being an idiot. She would. âI donât know if theyâd be embarrassed. They were probably entertained. I mean, who wouldnât be entertained by a tiny 5âČ3âł woman jumping up and down and screaming her head off?â He laughed, Aiden would do the same for Adelaide. If she was to have a gallery opening, which he hoped would happen for her, he would be there. Maybe he wouldnât be jumping up and down and screaming his head off â it didnât really seem like the setting but he would be there and he did respect it. Art was art to him no matter the form. âPlease, you are definitely a fangirl. Nothing is gonna change my mind. You can only get called adorable if you accept to being my first fangirl.â Teasing her, he brought his glass up to his lips and drank a good amount of the whiskey in his glass.Â
âI canât write a song about you. Then everyone would figure out who you are and steal you away from me.â He laughed, in all honesty Aiden didnât know how to write about anything that made him feel good. It was all struggles and pain. Those were easier emotions for the male to express. Leaning up against the bar, he let his arm rest against it taking another good sip of his beverage. It was honestly helping some of the nerves that were still in his stomach fade away. There was a time when Aiden wouldnât play his music anywhere but in his apartment or in his bedroom back at his mothers home and now here he was. It wasnât anything big but it was something. It was much more than what he had been doing and with Adelaide boosting his ego ( which was needed with how self-conscious Aiden was. ) He felt like maybe he wasnât doing so bad? At least on the music front? âWhy am I not even a little surprised that youâd be the one making the shirts?â He really didnât know how to say a proper thank you when people tried to make him feel good about things, did he? âOh you know me, just a lot of brooding and musician like duties. Honestly, lots of work. Been picking up a lot of shifts here that donât always include my guitar. What about you? What have the one and only Adelaide Archer been up to? Other than fangirling over tall dark and handsome musician types, obviously.â Aiden added sarcastically.Â
The friendship that sheâd manage to strike up with Aiden was something of a pleasant surprise to her and now he was unarguably an important part of her life. When sheâd first approached him on impulse to congratulate him after one of his shows, she couldnât have predicted that anything more would have come for it than a simple thank you. Instead what was a simple gesture of appreciation had led to the start of a relationship full of teasing but no less caring or supportive because of it. Things were always so easy with him and she would never cease to be pleased at the fact that she managed to bring a smile to his face and laughter from his lips. It wasnât as though she couldnât do the same with other people but it meant that little bit more with him when she didnât have to work all that hard for it but knew that not everyone shared the same ability. They were always just themselves and that was what made it so enjoyable.
Brown eyes canât help but roll at his description of her cheering for him even though she knew it was probably pretty accurate considering how much enthusiasm she backed it up with. âOh sure, all those people were definitely watching me instead of the actually talented one.â Moving to stand by his side so she could gesture out to the crowd, Adelaide played up her words knowing fine well that even if now their attention was fixed elsewhere not too long ago all eyes had been on him. âIf that was really the case youâll have to step up your game. And less of the tiny.â Her elbow finds its way into his side before she quickly darts back to her old place, facing him once again. Slim shoulders shrug slightly when sheâs never been all that bothered by her height, although even if she was her apparent inability to walk in heels would have put an end to any hopes that she might have been able to add an extra couple of inches. âSo I might be an inch shorter than the average but itâs not my fault you stole all the height.â A pointed look is sent his way as she takes another sip of her drink to hide the smile that was forming on her lips, the one that truthfully was almost always there in his company. Mid-way through her drink however, she canât help but shoot another quip his way. âAt least I donât have to worry about low ceilings.â As she finished the last of her drink, her smile shifts into something of pout. âYou drive a hard bargain, Foster. But fine, just so long as itâs always adorable first and fangirl as an afterthought.â
Thereâs a playful shake of her head as he reasons why she wonât be the subject of his next hit. âHave a little faith in my loyalty, Aid, or do I have to remind you that youâre stuck with me now?â Despite her laughter at the end, her words ring true when sheâs always stuck by those that she considers friends through thick and thin. Others had cautioned her against such behaviour, telling her it would only lead to her being let down but so far her faith in others had proved sound and she wasnât about to adjust her view on it all now. An eyebrow raised at his next comment. âTall, dark and handsome musician types? Not sure I know any of those.â Thereâs a smirk on her lips when she knows fine well itâs pretty undeniable that Aiden is an attractive guy but ribbing someone always had been a mark of her affection for them. With a slight tilt of her head, the brunette hummed slightly as though she was musing over his words. ââThe one and only Adelaide Archerâ I might have to start putting that on my business cards.â After placing her empty glass on the bar and getting on tip toes to lean over it slightly in order to catch someoneâs attention, she gives him her answer with an easy tone to her voice. âIâve had a few shoots which seem to have gone well so hopefully Iâll get some more work off the back of them. Other than that just down at the Seminole and of course turning out to support you.â
