task 01: fashions fade, style is eternal

Darcy’s closet mostly consists of two type of clothing items.

On her day to day life, she wears long summer dresses. She has countless amount of them in every style and color, most of them with some kind of bright or nice pattern on them as well. Some people would think this would stop her from riding her bike, but over the years she perfected wearing long dresses and not having the wind blow them in weird or revealing ways, or have the dress be in any way of the pedals or anything else on the bike.

When she goes on a run or goes to teach her classes or feel like wearing some more sporty outfit, she goes with leggings/yoga pants and some loose shirt. Usually, the pants are bright, fun, colorful pattern on them, while the tops are a single color, sometimes with some text on them. For the running shoes, she wears short cut ankle socks with different Disney characters on them (mostly because nobody can see them and they are fun).

She has a watch with purple strap and a map on the case of it that she always wears. She also loves wearing beach hats and usually goes with either flip flops or some other kind of flat summer shoes. For necklaces, she likes wearing several at once, all with different length.

The simplest way to describe Adelaide’s wardrobe would be bright. Her favourite item is without a doubt a colourful pair of shorts and her cupboard is practically bursting with them in all shades and patterns. To finish off her outfit she’ll usually put on a loose cami or blouse, either matching one of the colours in her shorts or just plan white. 

For the more formal occasions or even just because she feels like dressing up, a bright halterneck dress is usually her go to, matched with a pair of pretty sandals when she’s never managed to get the hang of walking in heel.

Adelaide jingles wherever she goes thanks to her love of jewellery. In her mind there is no such thing as too much and her wrists and ankles are always adorned with bracelets and anklets with her liking to layer up on necklaces as well.

     FASHIONS FADE, STYLE IS ETERNAL

Zara only ever wears neutral-coloured clothes. Real colour comes in the form of blue denim: jeans, shorts, jackets. She loves jackets. They make her feel secure. When the weather cools down, she’s always wearing a jacket. Her style is high-necks, or plain white shirts. Button-down blouses. Adidas or Nike shoes, or no-brand boots from Target. It’s rare for her to be in a dress. She only owns one skirt, and it’s leather. Stripes, or checkers, are always a given: black and white combined. She loves wearing a watch, ‘cause it’s something to fiddle with. Jewelry is always simple: studs in her ears most of the time---but she does, on occasion, like to dress an outfit up with dangly earrings. No necklaces, just in case the dogs attack them, or get tangled. Her hair is either styled up in a ponytail, or a bun, or down. Straightened, or naturally wavy. In Homestead, sunglasses are a given---no matter the season.

Will’s Wardrobe 

Will’s wardrobe is always very neat and clean cut. Being an accountant not only seeps into Will’s personality, but also in how he dresses as well. He likes the control that nicely ironed polos and clean sweaters afford him.

TASK #1: FASHIONS FADE, STYLE IS ETERNAL

Louisa’s wardrobe used to consist of three pairs of jeans, basic sweaters and t-shirts, and two pairs of converse. Now, thanks to Eleanor Winthrop, she has a lot more clothes that she had fun putting together and see what her style was and what suited her. Now, her typical outfit is ripped jeans (sometimes with fishnet tights underneath), silk or lace tops and boots, typically velvet and heeled. Every now and then you can see her wearing a cute mini skirt, or a crop top, or a black mesh top showing her bra underneath. 

Jewellery consists of a choker (almost always), several rings, and a pendant necklace. Her favourite earrings are her Tiffany & Co. diamond studs, though she does love her hoops which she’ll break out every now and then. 

Her nails are almost always nude, and they stay like that thanks to shellac. She’s tried acrylics before, but she prefers to keep her nails short for practicality.

TASK # 1: FASHIONS FADE, STYLE IS ETERNAL 

As Sylvester Stallone once said, “Clothing is the first step to building a character.” And in that sense, we’d like to announce that our very first character task is your character’s clothing headcanons! Clothing is a very important and personal part of our daily lives. It might seem silly to some but the clothing we wear are generally something we’ve taken the time to pick out, try on and make sure feels right for who we are, who we want others to perceive us to be. Our clothes/outfits are part of the first and most important impression we give to others. Everyone has a personal style, even those who claim to not care too much about their clothes are making a very important style decision by not caring too much. 

There is no due date for when this task needs to be completed as it is not mandatory. However, we do highly encourage all of our members to play along with us as it’s a good way to headcanon your character’s style. You can either create an image featuring the types of clothing your character wears to work or on a day to day basis or you can type up your headcanons into a text post. I have created an example (link here) of both a picture and typed text. It definitely doesn’t have to be like mine, we just wanted to give you a little idea/inspiration on what to do! George lives a very casual lifestyle, leading to a matching wardrobe. Shirts are generally oversized and pants tight, completely based on which hand-me-downs he received while living in Wyoming. Dark denims, sunglasses, roughed up sneakers, brown leather jackets, watches, soft sweaters.

task one: fashion 

Growing up as the daughter of an iconic figure in the fashion world, Aaliyah’s style has always tended to reflect her state of mind. While she was younger, her clothing always fit precisely what her mother would want her to wear. The latest trends were seen first on her, the next big thing tried out on her petite frame. It was expected that she be ahead of the curve and when eyes were watching, it was only natural that the Vogue editor’s daughter be dressed to impress. Studded with designer clothes unnecessary for the closet of a teenager, the labels became too much for her. They suited a body type she was convince she did not have so the more clothes her mother bought her, the more of a restriction she felt. Each new article was yet another dagger to her self esteem when she wondered how this was supposed to look and how it would look on her.

Everytime she left New York, Aaliyah shed with her all the baggage that became associated with clothing. It was easier to attach her self esteem issues to the clothes she was given rather than identifying the source as her mother. Thus, whilst in Italy, whilst traveling the world, she did the very opposite of everything her mother had taught her. Casual and less to impress, Aaliyah’s style developed into one that was meant to make her blend into the crowd. The spotlight had never been for her and she was never trying to make a statement. Thus, there ceased to be any color in her wardrobe, nothing too eye catching that would demand attention. It was the opposite of everything her mother had wanted her to be. Ordinary and simple, Aaliyah always goes for a pair of shorts or jeans, a tank top or tee shirt, paired with an oversized plaid or some light cardigan. Always staying in the neutral tones, the most color that can be seen is the occasional pop of red or shades of it, being her favorite color.  Her clothes have always represented liberation for her and for Aaliyah, her style has been a way to make a statement not to the fashion world, but to her mother.
