i get rly frustrated with people who don’t take into account what their pets past could have been like and how it changes how that pet could show affection to them in the future

like for ex. my cat was about 4 when we adopted her and she was a feral cat before being placed in the adoption center and that???? very clearly is a huge reason for how she is now??? my cat doesn’t climb into laps for pets and she doesn’t enjoy being held or pet for long periods of time, she likes laying next to someone and being left alone and shows her affection through that at a quiet distance

and i always get FRUSTRATED when people are like “she’s so mean, i know cats who do more than she does-” and like take….into account…..that pets have histories, esp when you adopt them as adults. my cat was a feral cat for four years until being adopted - she’s not like the cat you’ve had since it was a kitten!! be patient with your pets and take into account that they all are going to show affection in different ways

like I’ve noticed this happens a lot with cats [esp adult cats who used to be feral] and lizards and i get that a lot of people find the way dogs respond to humans to be really endearing and sweet, but not all pets show affection that way and its just kind of…..annoying when people get so mad at their pets for not showing huge affection like dogs do

“my lizard doesn’t DO anything :///” its…a lizard…..of course its not gonna jump on you and nuzzle you for pets

“my cat is an asshole she doesn’t like being pet or anything :///” like if u got her as an adult and she used to be feral…yeah??? she wasnt RAISED to be a housecat

#i mean my DOG was adopted at 2 and she does have some weird things #dont talk too loud or else she'll prob run away unless she's real comfy w ya #she pees when shes too excited #.... the good part is that she already knew where her bathroom is
