little adhd things
when you’re too bored to sleep even when you’re exhausted
the two adhd moods in a nutshell
overstimulated: can’t do it because everything is too much
understimulated: can’t do it because everything is too boring
little adhd things
verbal filters are a myth invented by the government
i went on wikipedia to look up sources for an essay but somehow i ended up reading about the history of meridian cannons
“did i eat dinner tonight?” *checks bin* *finds empty microwave meal packet* “wait is this from today or yesterday”
always needing something in your hands to play with
okay i know you’re talking to me about something important but i can’t stop staring at that woman’s weird hat and now it’s leading me on a train of thought that has occupied my entire attention span
talking so fast you literally forget to breathe
i just read three pages of this book and i know i was paying attention but somehow i remember absolutely none of it
whoops i don’t have any plans for today so i guess i’ll just Die
being unable to remember the names of people you’ve known for months and talk to every day
panic attacks
“adhd was made up by millenials to justify kids with behavioural problems and underachievers”
did i do that thing yesterday? or the day before? or last week? did i do it at all?
I love rejection sensitive dysphoria and how it *clenches fist* makes me ruin all my personal relationships
that adhd feel when someone gets salty about something that you were involved in and your brain immediately is like "lol they hate you now" and now you're afraid of this person lmao
on the outside I may be talking really fast or spitting out ten posts a minute on social media platforms but on the inside I’m screaming because it’s involuntary
adhd? more like
crippling feelings of worthlessness
Why Completing Tasks is so Difficult and Exhausting
“When a ‘normal’ person is given a task to complete and her brain is scanned as she does it, the prefrontal cortex lights up, showing that it is actively processing the information necessary to complete the task. The rest of the brain stays more or less inactive. When such a test is done with a person who has ADHD, the prefrontal cortex does not light up in the same way, indicating it’s inactive. However, several other regions of the brain do light up, indicating that the ADHDer uses areas of the brain other than the prefrontal cortex to complete the task. In other words, the brain compensates for what the prefrontal cortex in the ADHDer is unable to do. While the person may complete the task, he or she may feel overwhelmed, because the part of the brain doing the work isn’t designed to do so.”

From Scattered to Centered : Understanding and Overcoming ADHD
me: *is overwhelmed by things i absolutely have the time to do*
*inigo montoya voice* i want my executive function back you son of a bitch
I was wondering if this is just a thing I do because my mum does it or if it has something to do with ADHD (my mum's got that too) - so here goes: over sharing, as in literally-sharing-your-whole-life-story-over-sharing, with acquaintances, but thinking nothing of it, like it's no big deal like completely emotionally detached from what you are telling? Is that an ADHD thing, or do you guys think it might have something to do with other stuff? 😊
I do that too. Meanwhile, I’m uncomfortable sharing normal little things that everyone shares with strangers. WHY AM I IKE THIS?
I have no idea if it’s part of ADHD, but it could be related to impulse control.

adhd friendships: a summary
-“Sorry I didn’t answer I spaced out”
-*randomly switching topics mid conversation*
-“I know this is unrelated, but”
-”I’m feeling horrible” *five minutes later* “uh nevermind that”
- “When did we start talking?” “I don’t remember”
- *both infodump to each other*
- more typos than any human being is able to handle
- when you get really excited and you stay up until 7 am taking about random shit
- accidental derailing the conversation over and over
-”have i already told you this i can’t remember” “don’t worry i can’t either”
Oh shit. No. Shit. Thank you
Just gonna reblog this out of gratitude because I actually did forget…
Fffffffff let me get right on that.
and then reblog for the next forgetful son of a bitch
I’m so great full for everyone that is reblogging this. I totally forgot to take mine
me: i like this thing! my brain: excellent, it’s your reason to live now. you won’t be able to think about anything else for a few days, weeks or even months. talking about virtually anything else will be a nightmare, but so will be talking about The Thing, because no one shares your level of enthusiasm. have fun!
daily self care checklist ft. emojis✨ get enough rest • take your meds • stay hydrated • and eat enough food 💕
DO YOU KNOW how hard it is tryin not to ruin a conversation when you have adhd?? like you can be smack-dab in the middle of a serious conversation and ur brain is like ‘damn my mother is a chronic snacker’ and you gotta physically restrain urself from sharing that thought mid-conversation, or changing the subject cuz it would be hella inappropriate
but ur brain has moved on already
im so pissed lmao
Reblog if you have ADHD/ADD and…
• You can’t do simple math problems, even though you are thinking of the answer in your head. Ex: I always can’t remember 7 • 3 or 4(It equals 21 & 28)
• You go to the search bar, but can’t remember what you were going to search Ex: I can’t think of an example, but you should know what I mean.
• You are going to go get something, but can’t remember what. Ex: When I was a little kid, I would go get some new thing I had to show my grandpa, and stand in my room for 5 minutes remembering what I was going to show him.
• You can’t focus on someone’s eyes because everything around you is too distracting/noisy. Ex: I try to make eye contact with my girlfriend, but get distracted by all the things.
• You’re having a conversation, and keep changing the subject, then go back to your first subject 5 subjects later. Ex: I try to explain Pokémon or some other game to someone, and get off topic talking about how complicated the battle system is.
• You read a book and 5 pages later have no clue what you’re reading, then go back to the earlier pages, and find new information. Ex: Every time I read a book again, the story seems new to me.
• You’re reminded of useless trivia by everything. Ex: Someone: Ooh look at that NES Me: did you know that the Sega Genesis competed with the NES for two years before the SNES came out?
• You get distracted by every, little, unimportant detail, but never what you actually need to pay attention to. Ex: There’s a tear right there, and there’s a different shade of green over there.
Some of these things may be normal, and I just don’t ask others about it.
