twitter got my initial thoughts on the bullshit
So Iโve just started taking ADHD meds to help and even on a low dose right now things are a lot better. So I have something to say.
ALL THIS TIME TASKS WERE EASY FOR NEUROTYPICALS?! Iโm sorry?! I spend all the time feeling INFERIOR and like absolute garbage because people could do tasks better than me and it turns out its because for them itโs EASY?!
WHAT THE FUCK?!
the most common and least mentioned side effect of being properly medicated is OUTRAGE

โIโve been lost but Iโm here now. Youโre the only person who has ever been able to find me.โ

overstimulation/sensory overload really is like sorry I canโt hear you over the sound of my shirt tag being itchy and these two strands of hair touching my face and the tv and one of my shoelaces being undone and air touching me and the plane flying overhead and my own thoughts about remembering to buy hummus
i canโt talk i have socks on
saw the new matrix trailer
my favorite comment so far is โitโs not directed by the brothers but the sister this time. honestly canโt believe they would give up the reins of their baby like thatโ

Passing: Profiling the Lives of Young Trans Men of Color (2015).
[ID: Excerpts from interviews with two trans men. The first, Lucah Rosenberg Lee, has a shaved head and a trimmed beard. The second, Victor Thomas, has curly black hair and a trimmed beard, and is heavier-set.
Lucah, talking about gender dysphoria prior to transitioning, says, โI was in a heterosexual relationship. I was female. I would question this all the time. Am I attracted to these men, or do I just want to be them? That was a big turning point in my own self-discovery.โ
Victor, talking about the transphobia heโs endured as a trans man of color, says, โYouโre subjected to something because they donโt understand you. And you have to watch the way you react, because youโre a man now. People take you as a threat.โ
Lucah, in another scene, discusses feeling erased as a trans man, and racism in trans communities. He says, โBeing so invisible within the LGBT community can actually feel so isolating. When people donโt know my history as a trans person, I feel sometimes that Iโm viewed as more of an enemy.โ END ID.]
Trans men of color deserved to be loved and appreciated, and made safe. Trans men deserve access to our own spaces, no matter how masculine and cis-passing we are. We deserve credit and recognition for the contributions that we have made to trans history, most of which are erased nowadays.
Being a man is not dangerous or wrong. Being masculine is not dangerous or wrong. Being a black man is not dangerous or wrong.
Please support trans men of color.
Please support trans men.
Please support men.
Men belong in trans spaces. Men of color belong in LGBT+ spaces. Straight trans men belong at Pride. Men do not have to be feminine to be queer.
Yes, Janet, lots of D/deaf people can speak. And so can I.
More tips on hearing aids and writing them!
internalized ableism was so much more ingrained in me than i thought, in retrospect. i used to think i couldnโt call myself hard of hearing because my hearing wasnโt bad enoughโฆ i only have 50% of my hearing and also constant tinnitus and pain but ok past me believe what you want i guess.
I just got a phonecall from audiology, missed it and they left a message. she has a pretty heavy accent and because of that and my hearing loss I can't hear or understand anything she's saying. this seems like an oversight ๐ I have subtitles on for everything because accents really make me struggle to hear things and by the time I've worked out what they've said they've moved on and I've missed the next part. the pandemic and wearing masks has made me realise how much I rely on lip reading and facial expressions to communicate. I can't hear a fucking thing
