It started like some steamy romance novel. With the unrest caused by A-Train's manslaughter of Robin Ward, Anti-Supe sentiments have been at its peak for the first time in a long time. Josephine Owens never actually expected to be quite literally swept off her feet by Homelander himself. He was considerate, and funny, and made sure she was alright after neutralizing the threat in the middle of Times Square. He didn't have to do that, she thought. Following the excitement of being invited to Vought Tower for an interview at VNN, upon meeting him before shooting, she couldn't stop herself, offering to buy him lunch-- it was the least she could do after all. What she didn't expect was Homelander showing an interest in little old her, the artist, the student, the civilian. and it seemed to her that she may be the only one who truly saw him for him, not some figurehead puppet, playing nice for the public. She tries to keep her excitement from bubbling over in the wake of Robin's death, after all, reconnecting with her childhood friend Hughie following his girlfriend's death has Josie finding Hughie angry and distraught, deeply mourning the loss of his beloved partner. And it certainly doesn't help matters when Josie herself ups and vanishes, not long after making things "official" with her mysterious boyfriend "John". She quickly realizes that an unexpected surprise, though initially might have seemed like a blessing opens up an entire world of danger, death, and deceit, and if Josephine doesn't tread lightly, she may, quite literally, get caught in the crosshairs.

yes, that's exactly what I mean! they're there to carry out a sentence, not to die or become seriously starved or ill because of abuse and neglect. it's horrifying the way non violent offenders are treated in this country. the judiciary system needs a fucking reboot

this !!! prison reform is a serious issue and no one takes it seriously because they’re “criminals”. My partner tells me horror stories when he’s having bad days and he shrugs them off like they’re nothing meanwhile im in TEARS because of what he was put through for BANK FRAUD. The judge sentenced him to max security the last time he was in (during 9/11) all because he pissed off the judge. Judges get away with literal murder and nobody bats an eye.

I had no idea that work release was a thing. That's a whole new perspective I hadn't considered. I think some of the main issues that everyone is usually concerned about is the amount of money they're paying incarcerated people. Like, they need to afford commissary to survive in some situations. I think I mainly take issue with the prisons and jails in America that treat inmates so poorly with working. I don't necessarily agree that the jobs need to be taken from them. I think the quality of their lives in prison needs to change.

so this is an interesting thing! life in prison before 9/11 was actually so much better for inmates! they weren’t on lockdown 23 hours a day (or only allowed out to work), they were allowed to roam about and what not. that all changed after 9/11, the entire prison system was on lockdown in the US and it never seemed to change. My partner was in prison during 9/11, he said it was NEVER the same after. It doesn’t help that guards ruthlessly beat the inmates either. So many inmates come out with PTSD the way they’re treated, and the sad thing is that if they’re able to work on the inside, they’re only making PENNIES on the dollar and still relying on their families for commissary money if they’re lucky enough to have family that cares because commissary is expensive.

AO3 IS IN TROUBLE IF CALIFORNIAN AGE VERIFICATION LAW PASSES

An upcoming Age verification bill centered in California will be voted on Monday-- And as always,instead of actually protecting kids, it will lead to more online censorship and privacy risks, as it will force websites hosting to verify their users age by sending their ID, your browser history would be linked to it. if you live California, call your reps and tell them to oppose the bill AB3080 as it highly unconstitutional.

They also deem LGBT content harmful to minors, as well as mentions of weapons and tobacco, putting them on the same level as NSFW content.

Since AO3 headquarters reside in California, much like Reddit, Twitter,Discord and Youtube (and others) who knows how bad the effects would be. Instead of just effecting Californians (even then its concerning.) the effects would be US or even worldwide. VPNs wont help.
