Yes! I finally drew my DIVAS! Both Cuphead and Mugman since they’re my favorite characters in Myth of the Machine!

I found like a random pose I searched up on Pinterest. And I typed in sassy poses for results. And I used that for Cuphead and Mugman.

I lowkey drew Cuphead with my OC Fiona B. Campbell for fun. I just like the idea where Fiona is literally going to kill this annoying ding-dong at any moment.

Not enemies to lovers. But just for the fun of Cuphead annoying the hell outta Fiona.

Hi Nort, sorry for this weird question, but in your opinion, what would be the best canonical or traumatic event for a character?

No its not super weird but it is an issue i MUST talk about!

Well i’ll put it this way: There is no “Best Canonical Trauma”

Giving a character “x” trauma isn’t just a fun little quirk about them. When I write a character, I take a step into the story of their life and i live it with them for a second.

What happened to them? Ok Why did that happen to them? How would I act after that? How have i seen others react to that?

When you write a character you tell their story through their actions and movements and patterns of speech.

For example: Mugman

He yells and gets mad when things don’t go his way perfectly

Why is he like that? Mugman is a perfectionist, and thus dresses in clothes that are hard to snag, rip, or get messy (aside from his scarf), speaks without much abbreviation, is a ranged sharp shooter far away from harm but doing the most damage, and has a routine that he completes lest he ruin his day with a sloppy job of putting himself together.

Why is he like that? Because he feels he must be perfect at everything, or else something will go wrong. And when something goes wrong it spirals downward until they are at deaths door. He’s so terrified of one bad little thing leading to the end of their lives.

Why is he like that? Childhood trauma relating to intrusive thoughts being validated and his fear response being to lash out which was also validated by helping them survive. Especially with his brother having less of a regard for his own life than Mugs is for his.

And thats only part of his character.

Each character is complex and nuanced, just like people. The actions mugman takes are in no way healthy or okay, but what happened to him and his brother wasn’t healthy or okay either.

Like i said: I’m not perfect and i never will be so take this with a grain of salt

Honestly, I LOVE how complex each character is! It gives them more depth and gives you a hook. Like you want to know MORE about them.

Yet some people CANNOT handle other complex characters from other shows, movies, etc, for whatever reason.

Anyways, it’s a genius technique to write characters! Love how you work your magic, Nort!!! ✨

Anyways, I recycled an OC I had back in 2020 into someone new! Her name is Fiona B. Campbell. Alongside with her mother, Helen Campbell. These two would be my Myth of the Machine OCs for now on!
