Deep dark secrets

Tonight my mom shared with me some secrets about my family. She meant to tell me these things so that I could understand why certain relatives are the way they are. Some women were abused, physically and sexually. Some were raped by their own relatives. Some were left unprotected by their mothers who knew what was happening. My heart is broken for these women. For these survivors, not victims. When my mom asked me if something like this had ever happened to me I didn't know what to say. I wonder how to get rid of this curse that follows my family...
