ADRIANA CLARINGTON; You may know me, you may not know me. That all depends on what you do in your free time. If it's tuning to ESPN, then you're probably used to my mug.
Hopefully you know me as
#1 Cowboys Fan
and, current lover of the one and only Dak Prescott. That's my man right there.
For those of you who aren't into the world of sports, I'll do a quick introduction. The name's Adriana Clarington and I'm twenty-six years old. I work for ESPN as a sideline reporter, but in a year or two you can bet your ass I'll be the next Erin Andrews. Texan. That right there is all you need to know.
If you want to to make me happy, bring me a Chipotle bowl with a glass of Pinot Noir. The whole bottle is preferable.
AIDEN: No. We were a lacrosse school, hence why I played lax there. I would've played football otherwise, if I'm being honest. Well, who's surprised? You're a proud Texan who loves her Cowboys. Of course it's your sport.
AIDEN: Well. You're my girl.
ADRIANA: If you played football, what position would you play? If you ever want to see what true love of football looks like, you need to meet my father.
ADRIANA: Am I? This is news to me, but I'm certainly glad to hear it.
AIDEN: Everyone would be like ?? This isn't sports. I am. I'm ready to see my girl talk about football, whether it's college or pro. But it sucks that Yale's not a football school.
AIDEN: That's not clingy. I got you. You know I got you.
ADRIANA: You don't like that, huh? Football's my sport. I'm ready for it to be back. I'll be back in my happy place.
ADRIANA: As I said, you're too good to me.
ADRIANA: I'm also adding you calling me your girl onto really great things you've said to me.
AIDEN: I doubt you could look terrible, but if you were burnt out, I'm sure you wouldn't really make sense. Maybe all you'd say would be "I need a nap". I think the higher ups at ESPN realize that, though. Question - are you gonna do Monday Night Football too in the fall?
AIDEN: Good times. Maybe you need to relax another way, too.
AIDEN: I try.
ADRIANA: I'd probably be a broken record, honestly. "I need a nap," 10x over, every other minute. I will, actually. Are you ready for that?
ADRIANA: Not to sound clingy but: God, yes please.
AIDEN: I know. You never have the time to go to Houston. Or really go on vacation anywhere, huh? Maybe you should get a week off after the Finals. Or before Gameday starts.
AIDEN: Ever?
AIDEN: Your place or mine?
ADRIANA: I think they're giving me more than that. I'll just have to see. There's only so much I can work, you know?
ADRIANA: Maybe not ever. There's some things you've said that have been definitely been better than that.
AIDEN: And that's why I'll never really complain about my job. I can afford to take trips back east on a whim.
AIDEN: You're always working. You have the Finals, and then back to baseball, and then traveling every week for College Gameday. Are you ever going to rest?
AIDEN: Oh, that's good. You have an extra day to rest.
AIDEN: If you want, we should do something tomorrow. And by that, I mean we can stay in and order pizza and watch something that's not sports.
ADRIANA: And nothing's better than that, hm? I wish I had the time to go back to Houston.
ADRIANA: Probably not. I love doing what I do, but I think I desperately need more than a week of rest.
ADRIANA: I think that's the best thing you've ever said to me...
AIDEN: Of course. I did spend a few hundred on a trip to Boston to see my boys lose, but it was cool to see their last game of the season, knowing they're just gonna get better next year.
AIDEN: Good on him. You need to rest. That's gonna take a lot out of you.
AIDEN: Are you leaving Sunday?
ADRIANA: It's not as if you can't put that type of money down. You're good on that front. You're lucky for that.
ADRIANA: These playoffs already have. This is going to be like, the last straw. I just feel like I'm permanently exhausted.
As weird as I find it that people randomly want to give me gifts, I’m always appreciative, I guess. What I’m not appreciative of, though? Y’all trying to kill me. If you’re the super fan you say you are, which I want to believe you are if you’re going out of your way to get me a gift (a living, breathing gift) and randomly give it to me out and about, then you need to look up any of those fact sites—pretty sure it’s even on my IMDb, in fact—and they’ll tell you I’m allergic to cats. The fact that someone tried to literally give me a kitten today was weird enough, but seriously, do you want me dead? I know my reputation’s kind of shitty, but killing me is not the answer, is it?
Hopefully, everything is okay! People can be pretty ignorant sometimes. I’m sure finding out you’re allergic is one Google search away.
The scientific part of my brain wants to come up with a dozen different reasons why there’s no such thing as ghosts. But my ten-year-old self, who was fully convinced my neighbor’s house was (and still is) haunted, is telling that scientific part to shut up, because he’s all over this.
Luckily for the scientific part of your brain, there are several cases of their True Crime episodes!
I’m curious, though. What made your ten year old mind think that the house was haunted? Any spooky experiences?
Of course, I always am. How are you doing, sweetheart?
Don’t I know it? I’m doing pretty well. I’ve been on the road, back and forth, for a little over two months now -- so I’m a little bit exhausted. But overall, pretty happy. How about you?
Oh my God, this series is my guilty pleasure. I actually had to leave the lights in my apartment on for three days straight after I watched the one on Dyatlov Pass. Their commentary really helps keep it from edging into nightmare territory though.
Really? The Dyatlov Pass one is what got to you? That’s really interesting. Is it because of the fact that it could be aliens, maybe? The one that got to me the most would definitely have to be one ofthe most recent ones -- the Lizzie Borden case. You’re right. Even if I am spooked, the commentary helps me out and every time there’s a (wheeze), I end up laughing too.
