Adriana ‘Ana’ Martinez was born to the wealthy family of Quinn Ramos and Pablo Martinez. She is the middle child in the family and breaks all stereotypes of it. Being the only girl led her to being the favorite and her fathers little angel no matter what she did. This would slowly go to be the ruin of the relationship with both her brothers.

Her parents split up when she was a kid, her mother never remarried while her father married again only months later. Making Ana the older sister to a younger half brother.

When she was 10, her fathered moved to Harlow Estates in Hidehill and all 3 kids went with him. Her father was there to open up another business, this one turning into his most prized one. The Vanilla Unicorn.

Growing up Ana was a bit of a wild child. She would often get herself into trouble starting at the young age of 16, by sneaking into bars and going to college parties where she and her friends would get wasted and usually driven home to her front doorstep by police officers. Given that Ana came from a wealthy and known family, the officers always let her off with a warning.

After she graduated high school, she took off from Hidehill. Ana went all over the USA trying to figure out who she was and what she wanted from life. Along the way she met her ex-husband. She had never been in love before, she never allowed herself to be but this man had a hold over Anas heart like she had never known before. She married him quickly and brought him home.

Seven years ago, after Ana returned home, her father decided it was time to retire. Both her brothers assumed one of them would receive the rights to The Vanilla Unicorn, but they were passed over and ownership was handed to Ana. She runs the club with a lot of pride and a no-bullshit attitude, feeling the same way about the place as her father did.

Three years into her marriage, on their three year anniversary Ana left him. She was getting ready for the day and caught glimpse of an old photo from her twenties tucked in a journal of hers. She looked at her in the mirror, older now and freaked out about this being the rest of her life. She couldn't be someones wife. She left with her belongings to move into a place her father had bought her in Hove Lake. She never gave a reason as to why, she didn't even leave a note or give him a phone call. She never talked to him again.

The past few months had been hard on everyone, but Adriana knew the past week had been especially hard on Danny. Losing someone was a feeling that she had become familiar with, and it was a feeling that she would never wish on anyone else. Walking out onto the back porch, she held two mugs in her hand. Both cups were filled to the bring with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce, something that used to bring her comfort as a child and hoped would do the same for the boy. "Do you want to talk about them?" She asked as she set his mug down beside him and took a seat in the patio chair to the other side.

"Funny how you didn't mention Dad though," Brody pointed out, giving his sister a telling look from across the couch. "You know, I think that he's the most connected son of a bitch around here, and I'd bet every last penny in that trailer that scares you so much that half of those connections are crooked as fuck. He'd know someone who could sniff out the shadow but he hasn't bothered. Wonder why?" For one thing, Brody could rule out his father being some kind of shadow linchpin, because the youngest Martinez was sure he would have been dead long ago if that was the case. "Look, we're all gonna die sometime. I'd prefer it if mine wasn't because some psycho in my hometown decided to hack my limbs off, but I can't control it so what's the point worryin' about it? I bet Carmen didn't wanna be next either but here we are."

"Brody, don't start. You know that I want the whole family to stay safe." Adriana let out a deep sigh, like she could already feel the headache that this conversation with her brother was going to bring her. "I know that you two have your weird issues with each other, but don't talk about him like that. Dad has nothing to do with this and he has done so much for us in our lives, I won't sit here and entertain that kind of thing." She knew that her choice of words might not go over well with the younger Martinez, but it was all how she really felt about what he had to say. While they both had different experiences with the head of the family, she couldn't bring herself to speak badly on him like the other could. "Yeah, that poor girl... All the victims.. But these ones, these ones feel different, Brody."

Brody would have never considered himself a maternal kind of guy, but looking down at Marisol's peaceful face as she slept, it was hard not to crack a small smile. One that he did his best to hide from his sister, to save him from the undoubtedly endless mocking he would have to put up with if she saw him be soft for a second. "Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" Brody questioned, shifting over on the couch to make room for Ana as he tried not to imagine what Remy looked like without ears, or Luka without eyes without wanting to throw up. What happened to the old-fashioned stabbing? "I mean, I won't lie to ya sis, it kinda creeps me out knowing that I could wake up in some weird lair tomorrow without my dick or somethin'. This new shadow is a sick fuck."

Bringing the coffee to her lips, she sipped on the hot liquid as she eyed her brother from across the couch. Sometimes it was so hard for her to read him, to know what was really going on inside that mess of a mind he had. "Because people are dying, Brody." She set the mug down on the coffee table nearby, settling herself back down into the corner of the couch. She rested her head on the top of the cushion, still looking at the younger Martinez. "I just worry about you. I don't want any of us to be next." It was a scary truth to have to think about, who the next victim would be and if it would be one of them. "I worry about you all alone down in that.. trailer.. and I'm sure that your mom does too, you know."

There came the smallest sense of relief when he'd watched the amber liquid pour from the spout. One less thing to worry about on what seemed to be an ever growing list. "Thanks," he breathed softly, his grasp on the glass growing firmer. Caramel notes lingered on his lips as he glanced down the bar, finding the space emptier, more seats vacant. "You're included in that," he commented just before taking a sip. It was as the whiskey gave that soft burn that he looked back towards Ana. "Wasn't even sure you'd be open."

Picking the bottle of whiskey back up, Adriana poured herself a shot into a glass. Knocking it back right away and savoring the way it stung the back of her throat, a pain that she welcomed because it was different than the pain this town made her feel every day. "I wasn't going to open." She admitted to him as she leaned against the counter, looking at him. "But I figured that people were going to need to drink and somewhere to do it, so why not." A light shrug coming from her, she really didn't want to be there, but it was the agreement she made when taking the business over from her father.

Adriana can see the hurt in Danny, it's hard not to miss right now. She hurts for him, for Luka. "Danny.." She speaks softly, pulling his hand away and wrapping her fingers around his. "This is not your fault, don't ever say that. You did not do this and you couldn't have done anything differently, someone fucked up did this." She brushed his hair from his forehead, leaving her palm on his cheek afterwards to give him the slightest bit of comfort that she could think to provide. "I know this hurts and I am so sorry, but you aren't going to get to see them right now. Luka was a beautiful person and we will all miss them and honey, it is okay to hurt and show that hurt." She could remember the way her heart felt like it was twisting inside of her chest when the news about Marcus was delivered to her, she was sure that same pain was ripping through the boy right now.

True to her word, Natalia turned up on Adriana's doorstep the morning after the party, bottle of pre-made mimosa and grocery bag of breakfast spread food in hand. Not only did she need to catch up with her best friend about everything going on in her messy as-ever love life, but she also needed to check in with her after yet another night of loss. "You ever wonder how much more this town can actually take before we all just fucking break?" Nat asked solemnly as she poured the drink between two champagne flutes. "Like, I feel fine right now but I know I ain't, you know? Like, deep down in my psych... We all gotta be so fucked up 'cause of this shit..."

Adriana was thankful that Natalia had still shown up, that she didn't have to go through the morning alone. She had spent the entire night holding her daughter close to her, thinking of the three of them who didn't get to return back to their beds that night or ever again. She feared for her daughter, she feared for herself. "I want to say that I don't know and I don't want to find out but Nat, I have a feeling we are close to that point." She looks up from the daze she was stuck in watching the drinks get poured to look at her best friend. "You're right, you know. We could all get out, move, this could all end.. But none of us would ever be the people we were before this started. We are all going to be stuck together in our heads for the rest of our lives, fucked up from the loss."

He’s violently shaking as he sits on the curb outside the Conrad. He doesn’t know what to do with himself or where to go from here. The details of Luka's death are altogether too much and too traumatic to think about, and his body has already been sick from the shock of it all. He needs to go home, his phone hasn’t stopped, but he can’t move. He looks up and sees Ana, and he’s trying so hard not to cry, not to break down. ‘‘ I need to bring them home, Ana, I can’t - I can’t leave them here - they took - they took their eyes and they don’t like the dark. I need to bring Luka home, I can’t - It's too dark. ”

Hanging up the phone from checking in on Marisol after all the chaos had broken loose, she felt like she could breathe a little easier knowing that her daughter was still safe at home with the grandparents. Her eyes landing on Danny sitting on the curb the second her phone was back in her clutch. Her heartbreaks at the sight. "Oh, hon." She does her best to hold her dress to her as she sits down next to him, not caring about how the dirt and pavement will ruin the whole thing. "You can't take them, Danny. The police will make sure that they are taken care of, but baby, you can't take them home."

Though he would never own up to it, Dutch had sought out the Vanilla Unicorn that night for the music pumping through the speakers. As much as he enjoyed the dancers, as much as he enjoyed the bar—what he'd really wanted was for something loud enough to puncture his thoughts. There was also a layer of comfort here. One part of that sat next to him now. "How good's an IOU tonight?" Dutch hummed against the rim of his glass, practically feeling the weight of the wallet in his back pocket, at the sparse amount of bills within. "Cause I'm gonna need another one at least. Two if you're feeling generous." The corners of his lips curved, easily mistaken for a smile if you didn't know better.

They were one short. With the murder of Luka, the staff was one short and heartbroken on top of it. Adriana wasn't going to ask anyone to cover, to come in on a day off that they all should have had. Instead, she found herself behind the bar. It had been a minute since she'd really worked it, but the basics were pretty much common sense to her. She didn't reply right away when Dutch asked his question, she just looked from him to the glass and then back to him. "Don't even worry about it, Dutch." The brunette finally answered, grabbing a bottle from the shelf and topping off the rest of his drink. "I think we could all use a break right now."

Switching on the on button of the baby swing, Adriana watched as Marisol lightly swayed with closed eyes for a moment before letting out a sigh of relief that she was staying asleep and turned around to look at her brother in the living room. "Okay, we're good." She reached down, picking up her coffee cup and settling back down onto the couch next to Brody. "Now tell me, are you doing okay? You might not think it, but I worry about you." She held the cup close to her face, feeling the stem warm her. "Things are.. just tell me if you're not okay."

There is a tinge of guilt that washes over Adriana as she stands there listening to him speak. Neither of them had been fair to each other, placing the blame wherever they could. But it still didn't change anything, it didn't change what he did and it didn't change what she did. "Max, listen." She started off, not entirely sure where she was even going to go with all of this. Her head felt so muddy and confused, she felt like she couldn't get anything in her life straight since Marcus died. "I love you, I love so much and I always will love you. I'm not going to stand here and lie to you about that, but there's so much that we've been through." Taking a minute to catch her breath, Adriana sighed out quietly. "You are always going to be a great blessing to my life. You are the reason that I have- that we have Marisol." The smallest of smiles coming to her lips for only a moment as she thought of the little girl back at the house right now. "But I don't know what's going on anymore. There's so much hurt between us, so much trauma. I don't want to bring that into her life. I want her to grow up knowing that we always love her and each other, but I also want her to grow up seeing her mother love herself too." She reaches out to take his hand in hers as she continues on speaking. "Don't fight for me... not right now. We both need to find out who we are and what we want, if that turns out to be each other than we'll fight, together. But for now, fight for just you."

Despite the assuming breath of uncertainty that everyone seemed to be clinging to, Rafe was otherwise unfazed. Angry and already running on fumes and alcohol, but any sense of self-preservation or concern had gone out the window. With Sasha gone, it felt like there was so little to think about now. What did it matter, if he ended up dead? Back in prison? "You don't have to put on that act, Ana. We both know I make you look good." He noted, already pulling to loosen the tie he wore, "I'm sure you'll figure out how to make it up to me, someday, somehow."

It would be a lie to say that Adriana didn't worry about Rafe. She worried about him before and she worried about him now. He was someone that didn't open up easy, anyone that had ever crossed his path could see that, but still she never gave up on him. "I'll let you think that tonight." She smirked, "My gift to you." Watching him carefully as he loosened the tie, she tried to read his face for any signs that he wasn't okay with being there after all. "I have no problem with owing you a favor. You know that I'd do anything for you and I really mean that." She took his hand in hers, placing her other hand on top as she moved to stand there in front of him. "I'm here for you, you know that, right?"

"Bitch, I ain't nobody's second place, we can have joint first or you can accept second best dressed," she joked back with a smirk although the thing is that they were probably both being deadly serious behind the playful wink and smirk. Natalia rolled her eyes heavily when Ana pushed back on talking about what was going on with her. But, she did have a point. They were at a party, and talking about their love lives was going to seriously slow down their journey to being fucked up. "Fine, but I'm coming over in the morning with breakfast and you're fucking looping me in," she said firmly, pointing her finger at her best friend before grabbing her hand. "Come on, we're going to find the fun bartenders that will just give us bottles."

Adriana couldn't help but let out a laugh at the way Natalia fired back the second she could. She loved that about her best friend, the way she didn't even take shit from her. "Joint first it is." She grinned. There was a bit of relief lifted from her shoulders when the other backed down on discussing the current state of her and Marisols fathers relationship. She wasn't even sure what was going on herself, the last thing she wanted was to try and figure it out right now. "That I can do. But listen when I tell you this Nat, I'm very fucking confused on my life right now so you're going to have to bear with me for that conversation." Letting her take her hand and start to lead away, Adriana laughed. "Fine, but get your tits out girl, I want the good shit here."

"that little nickname's stuck forever now, huh?" reagan teases back, grinning in response to a somehow alias that adriana has called her by. she was grateful that the way that her friendship with the club owner hasn't changed, even with the things she's done. but, in a way, she knew the other wouldn't change her perspective of the former con artist, and the feeling of comfort of being able to just tell her anything or everything without the judgement. the moment adriana reached her hand out, reagan didn't let her wait any longer and took a hold of it, letting the other lead her to the dance floor. "i don't believe you were stuck with boring people. i have to admit...i was waiting to finally have some of your time." she couldn't help but think of the conversation they had when she visited the vanilla unicorn, that little challenge, and part of her was wondering if this is going to be what their little dance is going to be about. reagan then gently pulls adriana close, hand on the small of her back as the two starts to sway along the music. "i'm not about to ruin the mood, but...i need you to know, ana, that i'm always here for you." it may not be part of her plan to cross paths with adriana again, but...reagan was just thankful to have her back in her life again, after all this time.

"Oh, absolutely." She continued to tease the other women, throwing her a wink as they led her out to the dance floor. "The town is full of boring people; you'll find that out soon enough." A light laugh escaping from her lips. She didn't really mean it fully, but there were enough people that set her off around there that she felt she could still say it. "But waiting for me, huh?" Her head tilted just so slightly as the smile continued to play on her lips. She loved the way things had picked back up with the other like they had never been separated in the first place. "You don't have to wait for my time. You can always pull me away from whoever it is, I'm sure I'd rather be talking to you than any of them anyway." She paused for a second, "Especially if it's Brody I'm talking to, always pull me away if it's Brody." It had been a minute since Adriana had formally danced, but still no nerves appeared when Reagan rested her hand on the small of her back. "I know that, I knew that as a child too. I hope you know that it goes both ways, I don't want us to lose our way from each other again." There was a certainty in her voice the womans voice that told Ana that she meant every word that came from her mouth, something that made her feel like she could make things feel okay again. She sets her arms around her neck, letting her lead the two of them to rhythm of the music.
