Susan Colantuono: The career advice you probably didn’t get
Let length of service also factor in. In startup culture, you'll have a lot of new people on board. That goes with the nature of startups. How long are they staying? If people are booking it out the door in six months, it's not because Silicon Valley is a tough market for keeping good people. It's because your management stinks. Sorry. Changing jobs is a huge pain, and people don't do it after six months for small bumps in salary. There needs to be something more for someone to go through the stress of seeking out and interviewing for a new job.

It's okay to have passion be a driver to start your own business. You just need to make sure it doesn't cloud your judgment.
For entrepreneurs, business IS personal so lean into it. We are all human, and we have emotional responses to things we are passionate about.  When we close a huge deal, we get excited. When we lose to the competition, we get angry or discouraged. Don’t waste time and energy trying to shut off the emotional side of your brain -- it’s just not going to happen. Embrace the emotions and use them to gain ground.

What quote do you have up on your desk at the moment?
Quotes are like focus points. They collect essences of millions and millions of similar thoughts. They are the most meaningful and beautiful sequences of human language. You can calibre your day with a perfectly chosen masterpiece.
The quote on my table today was:
“Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.” ― Apple Inc.
Roselinde Torres: What it takes to be a great leader
Ideas are the currency of the 21st century. You can have brilliant ideas—truly revolutionary ideas—but if you cannot persuade others to act, those ideas don’t matter. Today, thanks to the world
When it comes to prices, people don't behave rationally. And the best companies know.
A company is only as good as the people it keeps

'Sales' doesn't have to be a dirty word. In fact, you could say that - as business owners - we're all sales people. Every role, every voice, every decision taken in any company is designed to increase sales. “We learn wisdom from failure much more than from success. We often discover what will do, by finding out what will not do; and probably he who never made a mistake never made a discovery.”
