I’m having lots of Feelings today, and I kind of want to get them out. TW for suicide below.
I feel like the way we talk about suicidal thoughts a lot of the time kind of does a disservice to people. We treat everyone who is suicidal/has suicidal thoughts the same way, even though I kind of feel like there are at least 3 different “types” of suicidal thinking. Each of the three types needs a slightly different response though, although I believe the one universal response to someone telling someone else they’re suicidal should be “how can I help you?”
The first type is the “I don’t want to exist” type of thoughts. They’re more existential, and in my experience don’t have plans to follow through. Generally speaking, it comes from a dissatisfaction of the life your living. I’ve been having a lot of this lately. I think trying to connect with others is a good way to combat these thoughts, along with therapy. It’s almost related to dissociating kind of, so maybe things that combat dissociating could help.
The second type is the “I don’t want to be alive” type of thoughts. It IS different from the first type, but it’s subtle. It’s more of a not wanting to live in the world as it is right now. It’s closer to what most people tend to think of as suicidal thinking, and there’s an element of hopelessness to it, rather than the exhaustion of the first kind. Not everyone who wants to die necessarily wants to kill themselves though. I think this is actually called “fixation on death” or something in psychology, so this has all probably already been talked about.
Then there’s the actively suicidal, planning it out, type of thoughts. This is where people might need to be hospitalized for their safety.
I need to remember to look this up when I’m feeling better to see if this is all already like, A Thing in psychology, which I’m pretty sure it is. But it’s almost 3 and i have to pick my husband up from work in like 4 hours and im tired so good night now.

You and Jake met on a dating app right? How did you not get discouraged by all the people you didn't click with? Sometimes I just feel like there's no one out there for me..
Yes we did!! Oh my god, I had to comb through so many losers before I found him. It was pre-Tinder, we met on Plenty Of Fish 😒😒😒THE SHAME!!!!! But that’s what was available soooo yep that’s what happened! And I’m the one who messaged him first! If you’re interested in someone, message them. But stick to your guns and your standards. If something sends up a red flag, it’s a red flag, and you should move on.
I agree with all of this. I met my boyfriend of over a year now on Tinder. I also messaged him first, you totally gotta weed out the creeps but you can find love.
lol I’m trying to think of something cute/funny at our wedding to play off the fact that I messaged him first but I can’t come up with anything?????
We played the shoe game at our wedding, and one of the questions was “Who asked the other out?” Which, yeah, I did too lol. You could change it to something like “Who initiated first contact?” or something that sounds less like meeting aliens.

Happy anniversary!!
Thank you!! I'll probably post a more gooey post on the day/after we do our celebration. He's got to work tonight so we're celebrating Wednesday. I'm trying to convince him we should go to the strip club lol but idk if we have the money for it.
The absolute lack of compassion for the validity of Tony’s emotions for the MURDER OF HIS PARENTS is amazing but honestly what did I expect from this fandom.
If you want to know what it’s like being trans just imagine yourself exactly as you are but everyone else sees you as someone else and if you correct them they may kill you.
this this this. honetly like we need to reframe the entire discussion around trans issues becuse the problem is not trans people, it eeryone else. young trans kids dont get bullied bc theyre trans they get bullied bc other people teach their shitty kids to hate trans people

Happy Mother's Day to everyone who struggles with the way today makes you feel 💘
2010 me: Who are you
2017 me: I'm you but I'm finally learning healthy coping skills
Today’s my first wedding anniversary with my husband, and tbh other than just being happy the wedding planning was over, the thing I remember most is how great my friends and family are. Everyone was willing to help me plan and decorate and do anything, and really it all came together because we, as a group, brought it together. My MILs friend officiated, her ex-boss’ husband did some photography, my friends sister did more photography, her mom MCed all night, my dad bought the alcohol, my MIL and FIL bought the food, I had so many people help decorate, my maids helped me so much, my cousin did my hair while another maid made my dress... it was just so nice, and I’m so blessed.
No, you did not just read about a racist protest that took place in the 1950s. THIS HAPPENED RIGHT HERE IN 2017…… Dozens of white supremacists gathered around with literal fucking torches while chanting nazi ideologies as an intimidation tactic… you wanna know the scariest part? they’re not wearing hoods or any other form of “protection”, which means they don’t even care about being exposed anymore…. I’m telling ya’ll white supremacy is one of the biggest threats to america. we cannot allow history to repeat itself by allowing this terrorism to continue
oh yeah, and one more thing. no one was arrested during this so called “protest”. sure, the police showed up….. but all they did was tell them to leave. no tear gas was thrown, no beatings, no rubber bullets, no national guard, no charges brought up…….. just a good ole peaceful disperse of a racist ass crowd..
but god forbid BLM protests against police brutality while holding nothing but signs
Low Spoons Cooking
(I’m making this post for a friend, but I figured some other people might get some use out of it as well.) I know it can be super difficult to find the time and the energy to cook things sometimes. Even just looking up recipes can be super stressful when you’re low on spoons, because everything seems to take so much effort. But please, friends! You should still eat something! D: This is a list of sites and blogs that house good, simple, cheap recipes which hopefully will help. Everything is easier if you have a crock pot/slow cooker!
http://no-more-ramen.tumblr.com - this site has a “no chopping” tag and a “crockpot” tag for if you really just can’t today, and also makes sure to note gluten/nut/egg/dairy and vegetarian/diabetic-friendly recipes! Super awesome!
http://lowspoonsgourmet.tumblr.com - they organize things by spoon number in the tags, from 1 spoon to 7 spoons! Unfortunately their mods aren’t 100% consistent on tags BUT it looks like you can find good recipes under either the “recipe” tag or the “mod fae” tag.
http://www.budgetbytes.com - This site has a ton of crockpot recipes. Just throw the ingredients in the cooker and walk away, come back whenever!! These recipes have a lot more ingredients than some other ones but you can always ignore half of the list if you don’t have them, or substitute.
http://allrecipes.com/recipes/157/everyday-cooking/campus-cooking/ - Campus cooking sites are good too because they specialize in recipes that make a lot of food out of very few ingredients.
http://ridiculouslyeasyfood.tumblr.com - not a lot here, but what they do have is really good and easy to make, especially on a budget! Plus, good directions!
The tag “low spoons food” on tumblr itself also has a good number of recipes and advice, from what I can see.
That’s it for now! If you know of any other good resources or have any feedback, please let me know. Hopefully this helps someone!
If you are scrolling through Tumblr trying to distract yourself from something you don’t want to think about, or you’re looking for a sign. It is going to be okay. Just breathe. You are alive and you matter.
i reblog this everytime i see it because i always need it and figure others do toom
