People making pseudo-intellectual arguments love to be like "for all we know, the opposite could be true, have you considered that huh? we just don't know" about things that we very much know are true because people have in fact asked themselves that question and looked into it before.

This isn't a novel idea nobody has ever considered before, you're just not very well-educated on this topic. Which would be fine if you didn't insist on talking about it like you are.

When Todd was really little, he used to have these awful nightmares of loosing someone that he loved. He’d shuffle down the hallway to Jeffrey’s room each time he woke up gasping, in tears and fall asleep on his floor with his small blanket tucked under his arm. When Jeff eventually moved out, Todd, older now, would crawl into his older brothers empty bed and fall back to sleep there after his night terrors, as if just being where he used to be would help. Then, he started Welton. He still got the nightmares at 16 years old. He’d still wake up in the middle of the night, gasping for air and sobbing so hard he shook. Neil would wake up and come slide into the space beside him, helping him back to sleep softly.

When Todd’s nightmare came true, when he lost someone that he loved so strongly, he curled himself up into a tight ball in Neil’s empty, cold bed. He covered himself in the blanket that still sort of smelt like him and waited to wake up again, waiting to hear Neil whispering that he was okay or feel his fingers through his hair. Of course, he never really did wake up after that.

Todd awoke, drenched in cold sweat. He exhaled shakily, wiping away tears that had fallen while he was sleeping.

It was another one of those nightmares.

This time, Neil had slipped right from his fingers. Todd had failed to grasp him, and Neil fell into the never ending abyss.

Todd looked to the side, expecting to see the familiar lump—

Oh.

He forgot.

Where there once had been a kind boy, the sweetest boy Todd had ever known, the one who made him feel loved, there was now an empty bed. Sheets and blanket ruffled from the last time Neil slept in it. Todd had never touched it since.

As he padded over to the opposite bed, the air felt unnaturally cold. Maybe it was because he was too used to the warm embrace of Neil after his nightmares.

Todd gingerly lifted the blanket up, crawling into the bed. He lay in the spot previously occupied by his roommate. His love. Pulling the blanket over his head, the faintest scent of Neil wafted into his nose.

One word was repeatedly etched into his mind. Why?

Why did Neil have to leave?

Why did everything go so wrong?

Why can’t I wake up from this nightmare?

"MODERN" ANDERPERRY WEDDING HEADCANNOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The boys are finally tying the knot, church bells ring, Thomas Perry gets a heart attack and dies wherever the fuck he is. This is pure fluff, warning may cause cavities and general tooth decay.

Most Important, they propose at the same exact time. The go to a place that has great meaning to both of them, either first date spot or a library where they found some of their favorite books together.

Todd's ring for Neil has a vine engraving on it, Todd always associates the woods and vines with Neil.

Neil's ring for Todd has a few tiny diamonds on it, it's not super flashy, but still a beautiful ring, perfect for Todd.

They want all the poets in their wedding parties and have to split them evenly. Todd takes Cameron, Meeks, and Knox. Neil takes Charlie and Pitts, he also asks Ginny to be a groomswoman.

Todd informs Keating of their engagement and asks Keating if he would be so honored to come to the wedding and maybe be part of it. Keating accepts and informs the boys he is technically ordained. They make him the Officiant.

Since neither of their parents are invited, they try and come up with other alternatives to some of the classic family things. Todd comes up with the idea that Jeff could walk him down the aisle. Neil says it's beautiful and if Todd wants it then it will happen.

When Todd asks Jeff, he cries tears of joy and says "Of course" and envelops him in a huge bear hug.

Neither Todd nor Neil have a groomzilla moment, but Todd stresses a good deal more and Neil is quick to enforce what he knows Todd wants even if he doesn't say it.

Neil asks Charlie to be his best man, Charlie agrees instantly and hugs Neil very tightly. Todd wants to pick all three of the poets in his wedding party, but ends up asking Knox so that the Best Men were dating.

They don't have a big bachelor party, instead they do a joint one that's essentially a Poets meeting.

The wedding is outdoors and to a small group of people. roughly 50-100 people. Some of Neil's actor friends, Todd's author pals, and any of the poet's friends and family who wanted to come.

Todd writes his vows in the form of a poem and laminated it so if he started crying the paper wouldn't get wet (He started crying almost immediately).

Neil cries just as much, specifically when Todd walks down the aisle Neil started crying.

The wedding goes off with a hitch and they become Mr. Perry and Mr. Anderson. They don't take each other's last name, purely because they both talked each other out of it. Neil didn't want Todd associated with his father and Todd didn't want Neil associated with his parents.

The reception/dinner is very eventful with Charlie and Knox's best man speech's bringing Neil and Todd to tears again. They don't do a first dance in front of everyone. They save it for a more private situation.

The Poets gift them both individual and a group gift. The group gift is a huge book of poetry, for the new meetings.

Cameron gifts them matching engraved pens. One for Neil and one for Todd. He says they can be used for autographing headshots and playbills for Neil and for book signings for Todd.

Charlie gifts them a trip to Paris, the other poets are pissed that he was the only one to pay for this, but Charlie and his trust fund don't mind the expensive gift.

Meeks and Pitts individual gifts that work together. They gift them A bunch of their favorite records and an antique record player they fixed up.

Knox gifts them a handknit blanket in Blue and Green, very similarly colored to their favorite sweaters in school.

Keating gifts them a bunch of books that are right up both Neil and Todd's alley without even asking if they've read them. (They haven't and he never gifts asks nor gifts them books that they've read).

He also tells them both how proud he is of both of them and tells them he knows they'll have a wonderfully long marriage.

AND THEY DO

The left ring is sort of how I imagine Neil's ring and the one on the right is how I imagine Todd's ring. Think it's cute if they unknowingly get each other plant based rings without even talking about it that much.

But my biggest hcs to date I believe hope y'all enjoy.
