A glimpse of a dream
there are a NUMBER of folktale Woman-Creatures like selkies who exist to make the inherently coercive nature of heterosexual marriage explicit and to externalize male anxiety about how if your wife had actual autonomy she very well might disappear and you might never fucking hear from her again
which is a FASCINATING category of Woman-Creature imo
someone said it's also a cautionary tale about mistreating your wife and I think that's spot on especially for other related types of stories e.g. the crane wife. like I think these stories are very much Husband Anxiety Stories. the Woman-Creatures are black boxes whose interior experience it is impossible to know and who have strange and often seemingly arbitrary rules that you must follow or else they will disappear. idk. like. that's why I think that any empowering-to-women-ness qualities of these stories is incidental. I think they're externalized anxiety about coercive societal heterosexuality and the inability to truly Know one's wife in such circumstances.
you also see a variant of this formula a lot (generally at the more literary end of the fairy tale space) where it's not a creature you capture, but a magical lady who picks you for seemingly arbitrary reasons, bettering your fortune enormously with her magic and wealth and second-hand status.
and then, for reasons usually at least slightly less arbitrary, fucks off again.
the husbandly anxiety here is more about not having access to coercion as an option.
oooo yes absolutely!
was just talking to Story about this and he told me about one folktale where a guy meets a beautiful woman at a lake and she brings a bountiful dowry of like one million fat cows and such and she is of course a fairy so she's like "my one requirement in our bargain is that if you strike me three times I will leave" and in many versions of the story the husband doesn't ""actually"" strike her -- each time it's something like, one 'strike' involves her forgetting her gloves inside and he walks out and taps her on the shoulder with her gloves, but she tells him that counts as striking her. this sort of thing. which is TRANSPARENTLY like "whoa wouldn't it be fucked up if your wife could enforce consequences for behavior she said was harmful, even if according to your cultural norms it was fine, and you didn't see it as a big deal?" like... lol. what if women could actually be the ones who decided whether or not any given action their husbands took against them was harmful? IMAGINE... PREDEY SCARY....
This blog is cleansed & filled with good energy.

Crystals for Dream Work

Sodilite- prevents nightmares (make grid under bed), opens third eye
Lapis Lazuli- induces dreams of past lives, vivid dreaming and opens third eye.
Blue Kyanite- enhances psychic ability, spiritual awakening, lucid dreaming and astral projection.
Amethyst- induces prophetic dreams, lucid dreams and astral travel. Keep one near your bed to prevent nightmares, cleanse and charge regularly.

Basics of Servitor Creation and Implementation
For those new to chaos magic, or who are unfamiliar with the terminology, a servitor is an entity created by a magician to perform certain tasks autonomous from its creator.
Here Comes the Sun
A spell for when you are losing hope and you want things to get better.
What you need
Something to play music on This song (x) A white candle This sigil (x) Two pieces of paper A pen
What to do
Start playing the song and make sure to put it on repeat.
Sit somewhere where the sun can touch your face, preferably outside
Stretch out your arms as if you were trying to touch the sun. Take some deep breaths, imagining yourself breathing in the suns energy.
Carve the sigil in your candle, lighting it when you’ve completed it.
On the first piece of paper write down what is no longer serving you and what habits you want to get rid of.
Carefully burn it in the flame of the candle, taking a deep breath. As you exhale imagine all that energy that is on the piece of paper leaving your body and being burnt in the candle along with the paper.
Next write down what you want to enter your life in place of these things that are no longer serving you.
Fold the paper and drip some of the wax onto it. Carve the same sigil that was on the candle in the wax.
Keep the piece of paper somewhere where you will not lose it.
In about a months time come back and read what you wanted to enter your life and reflect on what has changed. Keep it as a reminder that things do get better.

🏠Home Protection🏠
I have been collecting a bunch of ways to protect your home daily, weekly, monthly, and passively. You can do it all or only one, completely up to you. Hope some of this helps! Amazing books that have helped me cultivate this:
📖A witches Bible by Janet and Stewart Farrar
📖The encyclopedia or witches, witchcraft, and wicca by Rosemary Ellen Guiley
📖Grimoire of a kitchen witch by Rachel Patterson
Cinnamon
Blow cinnamon out of the doorway at the beginning of each month
Add it to a cleansing spray
Sprinkle on carpet and vacuum
Make a home cleansing spray
Use moon water as the base and add protective ingredients - rosemary, lavender, cinnamon, lemon.
Wash bedding with the intent of washing away negative energy and bad dreams
You can add a tsp of lemon juice in the wash to help aid in protection.
Bring in fresh flowers
Honeysuckle helps good marriages for people who live there, attracts love, luck, and wealth.
Lavender helps aid with protection, sleep, and peace.
Dandelions promote happiness.
Light candles
Candles that are cinnamon or lemon scented
Black to absorb negativity
White to repel negative energy
Smudging and Incense
The best way to go about this is to use homegrown from your garden. I personally grow sage, rosemary, mugwort, and lavender specifically for this.
A bundle hung at the door
Rosemary and lavender
Mugwort
Protection Sigils
You can make your own or use curated ones.
Hang horseshoes
If you don't have a horseshoe the whole point is hanging iron. So if you have iron that would work as well.
Hang bells
Putting them on the door handle ensures they chime frequently and cleanses the space.
Scatter bread
Doing this in your yard, especially if it's bread you made, is a symbol of protection and provides a gift to the spirits.
Witches Bottle
There is an old way to do this but many people are uncomfortable with doing that. You can add nails, salt, cinnamon bark or powder, and fill it with lemon juice. Bury it in the yard and you should have the same effect just not as potent. In a sense. Be sure to really give intention.
Salt!
You can make a line at the doorway.
Throw it behind you while cooking.
Scatter in the yard (Epsom salt is great for this)
Leave in bowls on shelves.
Amulets
Pentagrams
Binding runes - Ligatures of two or more runes, often used by creating into a single, unified symbol. They usually share a common vertical line.
Runes - The alphabet in which we see our nature revealed. Derived through the god Odin. Specifically the protection rune would be a great addition to places in your home.
Ankh - Representative of life after death and God's death and resurrection. Osiris and Isis. It is an Egyptian symbol.
Crystals
Agate
Carnelian
Jasper
Obsidian
Quartz
Plants
Whether inside or outside planting protective plants is a great way to protect a home
Rosemary
Aloe
Lavender
Shielding
While meditating you can imagine a shield forming around you, your room, your home, your yard. Give intention and make sure you are rooted.
Ashes
Save ashes of protection spells and smear above doorway.
During litha, collect the ashes of the bonfire and use in your garden or spread above the doorway.
You can add ashes to salt and make black salt. Use the same with extra potent energy.
Oranges
Scatter orange peels around the yard.
Use the dried peels in your witches bottle.
Dry oranges and hang them.
Sabbat protections
During imbolc you can plant a potato with a piece of paper or leaf with intention of protection for your home and bury the potato.
Ostara you can make eggshells to sprinkle or egg candles.
Beltane and Litha you can use fire to your advantage for extra potent protection spell work.
Mabon is a great time to do summer pots, add apples, cinnamon, lemons, and oranges.
Samhain you can make sachets, charm bags, ancestors altar, wreath, carve pumpkins.
Yule is a fun time of year. Lighting candles, Simmer pots of apples and cinnamon, hang pine cones, wreath made of pine, yule log.

For anyone who needs it
Simple Ways to Practice Magick Everyday
Say a small prayer or do a short meditation before you get out of bed in the morning.
Write down dreams or visions you had.
Stir your first cup of coffee or tea counterclockwise to banish negativity and bad luck or clockwise to bring positive energy.
Draw daily tarot or oracle cards (you can also use a pendulum) for guidance.
Cleansing yourself and home using sound or smoke.
Ancestor or spirit offerings
Pick out your clothes, shoes, jewelry... ect with intention.
Write a sigil or petition paper and burn it.
Take a ritual shower. You can spice it up with candles, herbs, and crystals, or you can simply step under the water and imagine all the negativity and bad energy washing off you. You can also recite a chant.
Every time you look into the mirror, say an affirmation
Take a walk outside and ground yourself to Mother Earth.
Dance!! Dancing is an excellent way to rise the energy, and it helps with opening the sacral and solar plexus chakra and getting in touch with the inner child.
