her name is Çilem Doğan and she was sentenced to 15 years for this. the court initially wanted to give her life imprisonment. she was released on bail in june 2016 and has since become a symbol for the movement against femicide and violence against women in Turkey.

If you support policies that prohibit transgender people from using restrooms, even if you can somehow pretend that your reasons are feminist, the people enforcing the policies will not be feminist.

Can you really trust the police, who frequently get away with rape, who beat their wives much more often than the general population, and who are often members of white supremacist groups, to enforce the policies with feminist motives? Even if you’re somehow able to accurately decide who’s “really a man and doesn’t belong in the women’s restroom”, can you really trust the police to judge accurately? How do you know the police won’t just assume that any gender-nonconforming woman or woman of color is really a man?

We need your help.

I guess I will be taken to prison by Chinese government one day, because of this art I drew, or the things I said.

I am from Hong Kong. As you may not know, this is a special administration region of China. We (still) have our own legal system, and freedom of speech, that’s why I can access to everywhere in the internet without censorship (I get ask a lot). Recently, over a million of people are protesting against the Extradition Law. It was an extremely-almost-impossible fight and many students are injured horribly by the police force. I WAS THERE.

If the extradition law is passed, which means that China can “took” anyone from Hong Kong back to China as “prisoners”. Oh you don’t wanna know what China will do to those innocent people …

The government is forcing the law on us. We couldn’t do this on our own. We need more attention from other countries. Please spread this message out.

Also: don’t stigmatize HIV+ individuals because they all have different circumstances and might’ve  gotten the virus from a variety of sources (sex, occupational, birth, blood transfusions in other countries). 

HIV-related stigma remains a huge barrier to preventing HIV, and is linked to a low level of people testing for HIV.
