Hello again friend! I've noticed that your nails are shaped in an almond/dulled stiletto shape. How is your experience with breakage? My nails are extremely long, and they naturally take a coffin shape. I get urges to file to stiletto sometimes, but I was wondering if you had any warnings or suggestions. Tell me all about your experience with nail shapes!
Hello again! This is apparently going to be a very long answer; I hope you are ready. My nails rapidly change shape, so hereās what Iāve got for ya from my personal experience:The very, very tip can snap off easily, but if I keep them polished, the tip just eventually dulls, which is when I transition to a softer almond. Very occasionally a whole centimeter or so will snap off, but that is almost always on my pointer nails, which are weak to begin with. Iād say thatās down to your nailsā strength, and Iām gonna guess you have pretty strong/healthy nails for them to be extremely long (I can only dream). My suggestion would be to try edge nails first - as in, the natural nail kind where you file the tip of the nail into a triangular point.. ask google, because Iām sure that makes no sense, lol. That way you can see if your nails will survive with a sharp point without sacrificing a lot of length to the side filing of stilettos - and if you want to deal with the upkeep that a sharp point requires. I have to lightly file them pretty much every other day to keep the point fresh, which is fine with me as I paint them practically every day, anyway.ALSO - if you want to apply a lot of polish (like itās a polish that takes several coats to be opaque, or you want to put glitter on top, or your top coat is thick) - you want your nails to be filed extra sharp. I use seche vite as my top coat, and it really rounds out the point, so when I do have super pointy nails, they are VERY thinly pointed without polish. My general advice is, always, no matter what shape youāre going for, keep your nails polished, even with just a clear polish. That protects them better than anything....and in conclusion, I find almond nails to be the easiest in terms of upkeep and breakage-resistance. The corners of square nails break off more frequently than almond tips, and ovals are too boring for my inner witch aesthetic desires. Iād love to try coffin and true stiletto nails, but my danged pointer nails are so weird that Iām not sure theyāll ever grow long enough to fulfill my dreams, lol. Thank you for the ask, and thanks for reading my essay! Haha.
