Once, when the warden was first announced, I made a theory in a discord server (that is unfortunately deleted so I can't get screenshots (though I may dig through my old phone to see if any might exist on there)) about how disks 11 and 13 were about the warden, but got shut down because "mojang wouldn't have thought that far ahead" so I felt bad and didn't post it and now I feel stupid because disk 5 exists and you get it where? You get it when? And also I missed my Apollo moment.

I’m glad that Minecraft keeps getting new updates, and that the dev team have been putting a lot of work into those updates. The world feel beautiful and most importantly it feels alive! But, sometimes I still like to go back to the older builds, because for every new spec of life that’s been added I feel like a little something has been lost. 

The world of Minecraft has become more vibrant and alive but it isn’t Alive anymore. Or maybe a better wording is that it’s not Awake. There was something almost haunting about the first couple builds of the game. When punching sheep would just give you wool and pork chops didn’t stack. It wasn’t alive in the same way but it was Alive. Displeased. There was something terrifying about its strangeness, harrowing in its peculiar terrain generation. You were lonely, sure, but never alone. There was also something there. An inkling of presence at the back of your mind.

You were scared of it and it didn’t like you. But slowly over time that Aliveness fell Asleep. Like a lullaby made of poetry the player loved it and the world learned to love and player. The world was wild and unhappy but the player shaped it and didn’t tame it but turned it into a companion. You were lonely but never alone. The world as it is now is beautiful. But I miss those days. When there was a purity in the loneliness. When it was only you and the world.
