Now, before you start throwing tomatoes, let me make one thing perfectly clear. I do not believe that either side; Pro-Choice or Pro-Life; is wrong. It’s a very gray issue, and I’m on the fence about what I believe myself. I Do however, think that REASONS for those sides can be wrong.

So let me get this straight...
Abortion is not okay because you are “ending the life an unborn child”. Those are your words.
But a person who has been raped is still carrying an unborn child. Why is it okay for them to end the child’s life? Why is it okay to end the life of an unborn child just because the mother would suffer?
Why does the method of conception matter? If abortion is so awful that you would want it denied to everyone else (including CHILDREN. Middle schoolers are CHILDREN) then why is it okay to end the life of an unborn child conceived of rape?
Proper way to change minds and lives.

While the picture looks wholesome, and I’m sure they are nice people, let’s just remember:
- Adoption is an alternative to parenting, abortion is an alternative to being pregnant
- Pregnancy and giving birth is more dangerous than having an abortion
- Not everyone wants or is physically or financially able to go through 9 months of pregnancy and hours of hard labor
- Giving up a baby for adoption can be very traumatizing for a mother
So... if we could just respect a women’s ability to choose what’s best for her, her body, and her own family, that would be swell.

Consent to driving is consent to paying damages as result for a car crash if it happens. That's the whole arguement behind manta dory insurance, you consent to that and the rules of the road when you want to use public roads.
That... doesn't even connect with the analogy.
When you are driving a car, there is a chance you could get in a car accident and need medical help. By your logic, since I consented to driving the car, I'm also consenting to the bodily harm done to me in an accident. So I should receive no medical care, since I obviously knew what I might be getting myself into.
(Also, for the record, the UN considers denying a pregnant person an abortion a form of torture. That is the side you are supporting.)

Personally I don't care about early termination but after 6-10 weeks the fetus starts to develop brain waves and has a heart beat.

How does that mean that a foetus has more rights than a woman? And a belief in human rights means a belief in the right to life, which is anti-abortion.
It’s called bodily autonomy. It means that no one can use your body without your consent.
You have to give consent to donate blood or organs, even if they would save someone’s life. If you die, and you haven’t previously consented to being an organ donor, no one can legally take your organs and use them for someone else.
The fetus is using the pregnant person’s organs to sustain itself. If the pregnant person has not consented to this, and you deny them the right to terminate that pregnancy, then you are giving the fetus more rights than the person whose organs it is using. You are giving the pregnant person less rights to their own body than a corpse.
The right to bodily autonomy trumps the right to life. If it didn’t, then you could be forced to donate blood or other organs in order to save the life of someone else.
You misunderstand the right to life. It is a negative right, not a positive right. This means that it is something that must not be infringed upon, not something that someone must do for someone else.
Regardless, if bodily autonomy is so important, why does the fetus not have it?
Lastly, refraining from killing someone is not giving them any more rights than you. It just means that the the right to life is inalienable.
The fetus does not have it because it is not autonomous. It requires the use of someone else's body in order to sustain it's own life. By giving the fetus the right to use the pregnant person's body without their consent, you are giving it more rights - not equal rights - than the pregnant person. It's really a simple concept.

Definition of murder: the unlawful premeditated killing of one human being by another.
So if you are admitting fetuses are human, then abortion is murder. The only different is that it is legal, which makes it legal murder. And I didn't respond to your particular post because I have fought the same Argument time and time again. And there is such a difference between not donating an organ and physically having the human being inside of you killed. Such a difference. I also volunteer in a hospital, (NICU and surgical recovery room), work at a therepuatic riding stable for kids, work with our local foster system to plan birthday parties and raise money for supplies for 80+ children, and am going on 2 church mission trips this summer. I think birth control should be accessible and that would help unplanned pregnancies, but the only true way to prevent pregnancy is abstinence, and if I promoted that, I would be "a bitch for telling me what to do with my body." It is a choice to make life. It is not a choice to end life. Empower women through love, support, and acceptance for life.

I would like to exclude rape (Which makes up for .2% of abortions) for a moment. That is a seperate issue.
The pregnant person created that life. They chose to take part in sexual intercourse in which there is always a chance of getting pregnant. They expressed their consent to the possibility of getting pregnant. What we should ALL be working to end is the stigma that “A child will ruin your life”. We should be working towards dreading love, support, and acceptance. It crushes me that the solution to the unexpected is killing.
Consent to sex is not consent to pregnancy, just as consent to driving is not consent to getting in a car crash. A large percentage of people who choose abortion we're using some form of birth control, which means they were definitely not consenting to pregnancy.
And you still haven't addressed the bodily autonomy part of my argument. Parents are not legally obligated to provide blood or organs to their children. Even if you put someone in a position where they might require your body to sustain their life (imagine you hit them with your car), as some might argue the pregnant person has done with the fetus, you are still not legally obligated to let the use your blood, marrow, kidneys, etc. Why should pregnant people be exempt from this right to bodily autonomy?
I agree that we should live in a world where abortion didn't need to be an option, but even in hypotheticals that world would never exist. We should be working to reduce the amount of unwanted pregnancies through comprehensive sex education, to provide services and support to those who find themselves unexpectantly pregnant. Stigmatizing abortion, spreading lies and misinformation, and reducing reproductive rights helps no one.

You're missing the whole point of the bodily autonomy argument. You cannot rape or murder someone because you would be infringing on their bodily autonomy. Because they are sentient and autonomous.
Fetuses are neither of these things. They physically rely on someone else's bodily processes to survive (And yes, this is very different than an infant needing an adult to feed and care for them).
So, in case you missed it:
Bodily autonomy: It's means no one can infringe on your body without your open and continued consent. No one can make medical decisions for your body but you. And no one can use your body without your consent, be it a fetus, a rapist or a murderer.

I actually attack the concept of happiness. The idea that - I don’t mind people being happy - but the idea that everything we do is part of the pursuit of happiness seems to me a really dangerous idea and has led to a contemporary disease in Western society, which is fear of sadness. It’s a really odd thing that we’re now seeing people saying “write down 3 things that made you happy today before you go to sleep”, and “cheer up” and “happiness is our birthright” and so on. We’re kind of teaching our kids that happiness is the default position - it’s rubbish. Wholeness is what we ought to be striving for and part of that is sadness, disappointment, frustration, failure; all of those things which make us who we are. Happiness and victory and fulfillment are nice little things that also happen to us, but they don’t teach us much. Everyone says we grow through pain and then as soon as they experience pain they say “Quick! Move on! Cheer up!” I’d like just for a year to have a moratorium on the word “happiness” and to replace it with the word “wholeness”. Ask yourself “is this contributing to my wholeness?” and if you’re having a bad day, it is.

You CAN’T talk to children with Tay-Sachs about their experiences. They’re paralyzed, unable to talk, unable to eat, blind, deaf, and incredibly weak. They have multiple seizures every day and they suffer from severe brain damage because of the fatty acid build up in their brains. A child with with infantile onset Tay-Sachs rarely makes it to their 5th birthday. Kids with juvenile onset Tay-Sachs have a slightly longer life expectancy, but not much.
I wanted my son. I cry for him all the time. But I wasn’t going to bring a child into the world only to have to put him in the ground within the next 5 years. My cousin had Tay-Sachs. There is nothing more painful than watching a baby suffer and die. But I guess I’m just an ableist shithead because I didn’t want my son to suffer like my cousin had to. A thousand fucking pardons, but I’m not going to sit here and deny that I had an abortion solely because of my son’s condition. If that’s what you consider “shitting on disabled people”, then fine, I guess I’m shitting on disabled people.
I don’t fucking care if this hurts your precious feelings, but some disabilities are so horrible that you’re better off dead than having to deal with them. I’m not saying that you personally are better off dead, but plenty of people are. Get over it and face reality like an adult. And yes i did know that most mother have more than one kid, I was part of the pro-choice movement. I just don’t understand why one child deserves to live and the other deserves to die. When Jenelle on teen mom was pregnant at first, she called the baby she was about to abort terms such as “it.” When she found herself pregnant four months later, she started taking prenatals and talking about how much she was going to love her baby. Does that seem fair?

I want to be a mother. At 14, after being raped, beaten and sold by my mum's boyfriend for 6 months he forced me to abort. At 16 I don't know if my baby's father was the man who forced me to sleep with him to resolve my drug debt or my boyfriend, but I loved that child. I miscarried. The 3rd time, nearly 17, with my boyfriend, an ectopic pregnancy left me devastated. Last weekend, still 17, I had to abort for medical reasons and I'm heartbroken. I wish pro-choicers understood how awful it is.

Are a pro-choicer, I think this is awful. Those were wanted pregnancys that you didn't get to carry through to term. That's terrible. I cannot understand the heartbreak you are going through, as I have not been there myself, but my god I'm so sorry that you went through this, especially so young.
