The stupidest comparison I’ve heard of defending Planned Parenthood’s fungibility problem is comparing PP to a grocery store where someone at checkout uses SNAP foodstamps to purchase groceries while another person in line pays cash for wine. They claim that means that SNAP did not technically fund the purchase of alcohol.
However, in reality the way Planned Parenthood operates, they coax SNAP shoppers (Medicaid/TitleX users) into their store and then at the end try to upsell alcohol (abortion) at the checkout. The alcohol really is their bread and butter revenue source so they use SNAP reimbursements as not only an added revenue source but as a ploy for more customers to shop with them for their non-alcohol needs. And technically speaking, SNAP works more like a voucher and not a reimbursement as which PP receives, but you get the point.
Here’s how you can really easily see through this analogy - would you still shop at a grocery store where they aborted babies on demand while you were standing in checkout? Probably not. Most people would find this abhorrent and never shop there and they would go out of business. Well, while Planned Parenthood tries their best to normalize this barbaric practice, they also dress up as a healthcare provider for the rest of the public. All that would happen if D.C. cut them off from Medicaid and Title X reimbursements would be that they would have to drop their “healthcare” charade.
Remember, Planned Parenthood makes the dishonest claim that “only 3% of their medical services are abortions” but in reality that statistic is really just a cooked up numbers gimmick.
Abortions are how they make their money and without their clever guise of being a “woman’s health center” they would simply be nothing but a place that kills babies for profit. That’s why Cecile Richards’ quote is so telling - she knows what they’re really about and she’s afraid of what will happen to their brand when you take “medical” and “health” out of their description.
Trump has done many bad and stupid things.
This is not one of those.

Legolas’s pupil size isn’t the problem here, though. 5 leagues is 17.262 miles. The curvature of the Earth means that for a person of average height, the visual horizon is less than three miles away. Even if your vision is telescopic and the atmosphere is perfectly clear, you can’t see around the planet. If they were standing on a hill, it would have to be at LEAST 198 feet above sea level in order to see the horizon at 17.2 miles away, with nothing tall in between. Which, knowing Rohan, isn’t impossible.
