She placed the phone to her ear, eyes never leaving Jasper’s. The idea that he was alive, was-
"Uh yes, hello sir. This is Agent Harlow… yes, yes I know I shouldn’t be calling, but this is about Jasper Sitwell," she paused, before finally looking down, "Yes, yes I know I’ve called you many times about this already, and that you told me of his confirmed death, yes no- I … sir. Sir, if you’ll please look at the phone number I am calling you from now."
There was silence on the line, before they started speaking again, “Yes, I certainly hoped that would change your story. No, I di- yes he is here right now. I- sir if you’ll allow me to speak. I simply wish to know the truth.”
He waited watching her face during the phone call. Part of him wasn’t very happy about the fact that she needed to hear his story from someone else, but the more intellectual part of him knew that after everything that happened. This was exactly what she should be doing.
He waited until she hung up. ”Anything else you need to know?”
Ainsley set the phone down, sliding it back to him, "You missed my birthday."
It was a simple sentence, but then she smiled, "and I hope all this triple agent nonsense is behind you. Can't imagine anyone would believe you of defecting now."
Couldn't ring that bell twice.
