I'm hoping to run an Age of Sail rare pairs week sometime in October or November so I'm here to gauge interest & find out the best week to run it!
What would the event look like?
There would be a week of prompts, given in advance to give you time to prepare your creations, plus an eighth 'free space' day to do whatever you like. Each day would have a word prompt (eg. "morning") and a trope prompt (eg. "hurt/comfort) that can be combined or used separately. There would also be a list of general prompts that can be substituted for or used in combination with daily prompts. Once the week rolls around, post your creation on the appropriate day, et voilà! All creations tagged with hashtag (TBD) will be reblogged here.
What counts as rare?
For the purposes of this event: any pairing with less than 200-300 (TBD!) works on AO3. If it's on the borderline, feel free to err on the side of counting it as a rare pair. I would definitely encourage you to get as niche as you can, though!
Which fandoms count?
Anything set during or heavily inspired by the Age of Sail, including RPF, that have strong maritime elements or themes. Some examples would be: The Terror, Black Sails, Temeraire, Hornblower, Aubreyad, Moby-Dick, Persuasion, Frankenstein. Again, feel free to err on the side of including it. You can also use this as an opportunity to send your landlubbing, era-appropriate blorbos to sea.
Are there any content or form restrictions?
None whatsoever, provided it is all properly tagged! You can create using any medium you like (fic, art, songs, poetry, playlists, GIFs, etc.).
