A blank sheet of notebook paper beat my ass last week.
And it hurt like hell.
So many of them are married to their jobs. 30 years with their company, 10 years with each of their three wives and no chance for a fourth because another divorce would be expensive.
I'm not sure how long I'll do this. How long I can keep it up. I used to think I was bad at commitment until I realized there wasn't much around me worth committing to.

A few months ago my husband asked what I planned to do "after" and I didn't have an answer. For a lot us, this industry is something you can always come back to. It isn't something you ever really leave.
When the money's good, why would you?
We talk about exit plans and how to list our skills on a resume for when we go straight, but I don't dream of labor. I dream of security. Financial and otherwise.
And for now, this job gives me that.
