moved to @agonisdei !
i have not had motivation to write on this account for the last week or so...sorry to anyone waiting for a reply. it might take a bit.
starter for @agonisdei Β Β ββ Β Β a faΓ§ade SHATTERED.
Β ππππ ππππ πππππ π πππ ππππππ πππ πππππππ ππ ππππππππ , πππ πππππππππ πππ πππππππ ππππ ππ π πππ πππππ . Β ββ Β Β The Lieutenant froze , petrified by the scene in front of her . Pale , green-ish bodies ; dried , fetid blood that reached her feet ; and the odious stench of DECAY .
There was no mistake about it : these men and women have been dead for some time .Β
By no means had Momo intended to intrude into these chambers in any way ; everyone knew Shinigami were FORBIDDEN from entering herein , unless summoned . She has simply been tailing her brother and his Lieutenant . TΕshirΕ hadn't accounted for the fact that in terms of KidΕ prowess , she far surpassed him , and thus was able to escape from detention .Β
She remembered the contents of Captain Aizen's letter to her : that TΕshirΕ was the mastermind behind a conspiracy she's long suspected since the verdict on Kuchiki Rukia ; that her brother was planning to use the Sokyoku to destroy the Seireitei and everyone in it . Momo never truly believed that , of course . It was far too outlandish , far too out-of-character for her brother to do such a thing .Β
It was misdirection , plain and simple , BY NONE OTHER THAN ICHIMARU .
THAT VILE SNAKE . It took every ounce of Momo's self-control not to succumb to the anger that was blooming in the pit of her stomach , scorching her bones and making her eyes and neck shake with FURY . Inhaling deeply , she collected her thoughts . In theory , this should be an open-and-shut case β¦ but there was one thing she couldn't explain .
If the Central 46 have been dead for some time Β Β ββ Β Β THEN WHO HAD ISSUED KUCHIKI RUKIA'S DEATH SENTENCE ?Β
Β Β Β [ β¦ ] Β Β Β Alas , the Lieutenant couldn't follow that line of thought further , as Ichimaru Gin was suddenly right behind her .
Once more , she froze , ready to draw Tobiume .Β [ Did he come here to rid himself of witnesses β¦ ? ------- NO . No , that wasn't it . He made no moves to attack her . ]
β Lieutenant Hinamori , β he began , leaning in close to whisper into her ear , β Someone's been eagerly awaitin' yer arrival . β Her fists shook .
β Would'ya like βta see βim ? β
Before she could answer , a pair of footsteps inched closer and closer , until they came to a grinding halt .Β
BEFORE HER ; STOOD AIZEN SΕSUKE , IN THE FLESH .
this was not part of the plan.
he knows what gin has done as soon as he hears hinamori momo's soft voice echoing faintly throughout immense, empty rooms. former and current lieutenant, one leading other like a lamb to the slaughter.
hands clench in tight fists for a moment, the only expression of frustration he will allow himself. plan laid out carefully, meticulously, has been interrupted β and for what? what are you doing, ichimaru gin?
hitsugaya and hinamori were supposed to finish each other off. simple, efficient, and one of the few bits of pure selfishness he'd allowed himself while formulating his plan. and yet at the same time, an act of mercy; would it not be kind for him to allow her to die without knowing the truth of his betrayal?
donning captain aizen's mask is easy; gentle kindness settles over him like a second skin. anger at gin is buried for now, to emerge only in stern looks. he enters the room momo and gin are in, footsteps echoing. god approaches sacrificial lamb.
he hides any surprise at seeing momo, for behind her is gin, watching through narrowed eyes. in this game they play, he will come out victorious. still, there is nothing satisfying in the way she reacts, no vicious joy to be had.
" how have you been, momo? "
ignoring gin as though the man isn't there. he'll deal with his former lieutenant later.

he cannot bring himself to gloat, easy though it would be: look at how much more intelligent i was hangs on the tip of his tongue, but the words remain unspoken.
" i did. "
confirmation is quiet, but the words seem to echo throughout the room that is his cell. butterfly, stabbed through the heart and pinned against corkboard, labeled as lepidoptera proditor. he hates it here.
" do you think me so heartless, that i was unbothered by the losses of my subordinates? "
genuine, rather than chastising. gin's death in particular had truly been regrettable, if inevitable; for all that he had tried to turn the tables, lieutenant once more betraying captain, aizen's fingers had been brushing against godhood.
she finishes, and ah, he thinks he understands. kaname's tale of woe must have been nothing if not a convincing example of the horrors of soul society's oligarchy. injustice, woven into the very fabric of the nobility, a creeping rot deep within the marrow of the place he had once called home.
" and here you are, returned to me. surely your new captain would consider this to be a betrayal. are you...ah, how did you put it? unbothered by such a thing? "
IT'S LIGHT, the way fangs bear down upon her lower lip. How hands clutched, tighten against one another so much so, scales almost seem to SQUEAK. Nervous ? Was she nervous ? She would not put it past herself, to be unable to recognize what she was FEELING in his presence.
Before this, she was but a moving thing. A creature of instinct, albeit repressed. She was not to understand the motives, the desires of Aizen ; only to respect them. Yet, deep down ... something, something had been shaken. Does she dare open her mouth ? Would his mercy, to her response, then be revoked ? He adored her, in the way one oft did pretty birds, or stunning ANIMALS.
β ... I simply ... know what Shinigami think of us, and I ... β Please, take from our world no more. Take not our bodies, our spirits, our devotions. β I ... wonder... at times, if you feel the same. Seeing us as beasts to be ... β
Were it so ; she'd be disappointed, of course, but not surprised. THEY WERE ALL GROOMED, IN A WAY, TO VIEW HOLLOWS AS THE ENEMY. In a way, they could be, yes ... Some hollows were outliers, simply heinous individuals who reveled in killing. But others were more like her. Creatures that merely WERE, by misfortune alone. Like Ulquiorra, birthed in the hallows of Hueco Mundo, without much consent or say.
β I want ... to think you won't hurt me ; but i don't want it to be in the same way you won't harm a ... a cat, or a dog β i want it to be because I ... I am a person. Even if your people do not think so. β
it is true that shinigami generally don't have a particularly high opinion of hollows. aizen himself has no particular love for the residents of hueco mundo, for all that they are useful. most of them are disposable, weapons to be discarded when they no longer serve a purpose.
and yet he could so easily say the same of the shinigami, who are equally capable of beastly, animal cruelty. the hollows are not responsible for the poor, mutilated, broken god called soul king.
his face does not change as she speaks, inscrutable. can he fault her for assuming such things of him? is she incorrect? yes β and also no. for while he has little patience or respect for those of her ilk, it is only in part because of their natural state. after all, he has little more respect for the average shinigami or human. after all, a useful hollow is worth far more than a useless soul reaper.
" if i agreed with everything the shinigami thought, i wouldn't be here. "
words are carefully chosen, though there is no hesitation in his speech. always playing a game, always obfuscating. how he grows weary of it. small sigh is nearly imperceptible, a quiet expulsion of long-held exhausted frustration.
" they dislike you and those like you, for they have been told to do so, and unfortunately a great many of them have not been taught critical thinking skills. as for myself? i could not see you as anything less than a person if i tried. "
i've been struggling to focus on long replies (which is the majority of my replies that i owe here) bc of current events. will probably put a lot of writing on this site on hold for a week or so. i'll still be around doing shorter stuff!
-> Lyric wants to prance back and forth like a horse at the edge of a rushing river, afraid to cross and yet still feeling like it has to. The man ducks his head and still they feel a wariness crawling up their back; Ulquiorra said not to trust anyone. Even the other arrancar, he did not trust. And this man did not appear to be an arrancar.
"... ... who are you."
-> Their voice is a quiet, echoing sound that bounces off all the walls and rubble, coming back to them like a ghost of their person. Lyric does not have the same sense that the Shinigami and Arrancar do: only their instinct and a vague awareness of pressure. The man unsettles them.
"Why are you here?"
" you may call me sΕsuke. "
he buries any distaste at providing his own given name so casually; to most he is aizen. captain aizen, or lord aizen, but aizen all the same. yet that is exactly why he does not introduce himself as such; whoever this interloper is, they do not know enough of him to recognize his face, but they might very well know his surname.
he is not ashamed of who he is or what he has done, but he is intelligent enough to understand that depending on who this fascinating stranger has spoken to, they might not take particularly kindly to recognizing his name. it is of course a gamble, the assumption that they would not be familiar with sΕsuke, but it is a gamble he is more than willing to take.
" as for the why...i imagine you are looking for an answer more thorough than simply curiosity or nostalgia. it is unfortunate, then, that i will be able to give you no other reason. i lived here once, and i could not help but wonder what became of the place in my absence. "
She'd expect no DIFFERENT, from he who sat at the Throne, of Las Noches. He would rule with a fist of iron, stern, unmovable. Though she held all ten of the Espada in some sort of higher regard ; it was no secret that some had a streak of INDEPENDENCE, a yearning to act of not only their own accord, but on their own desire. She, herself, would only act as instructed by he who brought her to this place.
It is a difficulty, even now, for her to catch her breath, wheezing soft with every inhale, exhale. He'd not found himself upset by her suggestion, which had been her concern. He does not fold to the request in total, but suggests keeping her SAFE from his wrath.
β T... Thank you, sir. β
A thumb comes to swipe at her lower lip, nude in color, but slick from the drool forced from both. For the first time she feels ... real fear, of him. Charismatic, he may be, but when angered ... She's forced to recall that they, truly, are opposite ends of a scale that war constantly with one another.
He'd easily kill her, should the situation call for it. With minimal effort, at that.
it would be simple, to kill her. the thought passes idly through his mind, with no real malicious intent behind it. she has made herself valuable to him, more valuable alive than dead, and there is a certain safety in that.
had a different arrancar approached and asked him to be more gentle, he would have brushed them off β were he in a good mood. in a poor mood, he would perhaps have taken more drastic action. but celeste is both useful and so wonderfully polite. not polite in the way of someone without a backbone, but polite in the way of someone who respects him.
she and ulquiorra cifer are alike in that. they do not grovel, but they are quietly loyal. what a lovely change of pace it is from the grimmjows and nnoitras of hueco mundo.
there's the edge of fear in her gaze, an expression he recognizes easily. he'd seen the same in his old captain's eyes, in kuchiki rukia's and kurosaki ichigo's and every other poor soul who had been unable to understand the necessity of his actions. and yet here there has been no betrayal.
not yet. potentially not ever, if she is lucky. besides. he imagines that backstabbing her β figuratively or literally β would not do wonders for his working relationship with ulquiorra.
" but of course. "
he looks at her for a moment, and then adds:
" you're nervous. do you think i will harm you, when i have only just promised to attempt to keep you safe? "
There is a cadence to his voice that lends to the idea that a SUGGESTION is toeing a thin line ; one one hand, it could be of use, of help. Yet, on the other, it could end in disaster, and the LAST thing she'd want was to offend her Lord.
β ... My only complaint is the size of this place ... it's deceptive ... Even now, I find myself lost, from time to time. More when I haven't slept well ... β
Las Noches was, in effect, a CITY, in the deserts' cradle. Palaces, halls, medical wings and more ... all within his palm. All overseen by those three that saw it fit - their manifest - to ... take under wing, such savage creatures.
A tale as old as men.
β Though ... I suppose when you are my size, my Lord, everything is ... quite large. I do not fly, for I don't know if it's permitted. Travel is hindered, for me, to boot ... β
" yes...las noches certainly is quite large. "
understatement, of course. he privately finds it rather humerous, the utilization of terms such as big and large to describe a place of such great size that immense seems too small a word. for one as small as celeste, he imagines that the usual week it takes to travel around its circumference is lengthened; especially if she thinks she might face punishment for flying.
briefly, he contemplates the possibility of combining her flight with sonido, and then sets that thought aside for later.
" should you wish to fly...i ask that you refrain from doing so in more highly populated areas, but i certainly am not so cruel as to prevent you from flying at all.
but ah, enough of that β have you not been sleeping well? "
discord drop! lmk who you are before adding.
Aizen
Sits beside him and holds out a plate of dried persimmons. "Hungry?" (tbtp!gin)
@kikennaheb1
he appears to consider it for a moment, expression soft and contemplative and entirely fake. there's an insincerity to it that he allows to shine through in moments like this; keeping up the mask of warm humanity is entirely unnecessary around ichimaru gin, for beneath child's face is something wicked and cold and dark.
" ah. i'm afraid i'll have to decline, gin. all the more for you. "
face twists into something parodying a frown, as though something has just occurred to him.
" i haven't seen you around much as of late, come to think of it. where have you been sneaking off to? "
why didnβt you just kill me when you had the chance, huh?
@ichigokurosaki | betrayal sentence starters
a moment's pause before he responds. not hesitation, not quite, but something not entirely unlike hesitation.
" what makes you think it was ever my intention to kill you? "
the implication is, of course, that he had never cared to kill kurosaki. it is not entirely true, of course; there had been moments in that final battle before urahara kisuke had sealed him away when he wouldn't have been particularly upset had one of his attacks taken kurosaki's head off.
but that had never been the plan. he certainly hadn't gone through all the effort of planning out kurosaki's very existence only to kill him in a fit of rage. no, kurosaki ichigo was far more useful to him alive than dead.
still, had aizen truly wished to kill him, he certainly should have done it earlier. he'd certainly had ample opportunity, and yet he'd stayed his hand. what a cruel irony it is, that he had created the man who would be so instrumental in his defeat.

" hinamori momo. "
voice is soft, contemplative; he takes his time in answering.
" she has exceeded all of my expectations. it is rare that i am surprised, but she seems to have a talent for acting in ways i do not expect. initially, i thought her to be merely another skilled kido user; nothing more. a nervous, naive child. "
a note of amusement in the way he speaks, in the way his eyes glint.
" clearly i was...incorrect.
she has proven herself to be brave, fierce, intelligent and loyal. not broken by the revelation that her captain aizen was not the man she thought, but rather made stronger. forged from heat and pressure. i cannot entirely take credit for what she has become; much of it is her own doing. i was simply a catalyst.
from the moment she leapt into action against hollows that, quite frankly, at the time far outmatched her, she has been bold. perhaps that was what initially drew me to her. i feared that she had lost that boldness as she rose through the ranks to become my lieutenant. there were moments of that courage, yes, but not nearly enough for my liking. and yet it was not entirely gone, merely dormant; she has regained it and then some.
she was loyal, of course, back in those days. loyal to the facade i had created, but loyal nonetheless. in my betrayal of soul society, i had hoped to break her of any blind, senseless loyalty she had. no β i hoped to break her entirely. a test, of sorts. someone unable to recover from my manipulation would, quite frankly, have been entirely undeserving of my time and attention.
i must admit that at first i had no particular emotional attachment to her. she was simply useful. once more, she has surprised me. i cannot say that i am particularly bothered by it.
still, for all of her intelligence, she on occasion still acts impulsively. i do believe she will grow out of it in time, but for now...it is at least entertaining. "
β ... What did they mean, when they said I can't trust you ..? β
@mikroteros | betrayal sentence starters
there are some things the arrancar don't know. the details of his experiments on his former colleagues, the details of his betrayal of the gotei thirteen...some of the more intelligent arrancar have picked up on just how conditional his alliance with them is. right now, it is beneficial for him to remain in the heart of hueco mundo with his hollows at his side; he has no doubts that this will not always be the case. and when they outlive their usefulness, he will cast them inside.
it is lucky for celeste that she has made herself useful, and even perhaps likable.
" i have many enemies. "
said simply, without any particular irritation. it is a simple fact; some hate him simply because he is willing to fight the system, and others hate him because he stepped on their broken bodies to get to where he is now.
" they will say things to you that are untrue. they will try to undermine your faith in me, simply because they hate me. "
hey hey marzi can i just say that YOUR AIZEN IS LITERALLY CHEF'S KISS ???? YOU COOKED , YOU COOKED FR KEEP COOKING
but really , one thing that annoys me to no end in the bleach fandom is how most people just ... fundamentally misunderstand aizen's character . bc fun fact , kubo in spirits are forever with you said that he likes leaving clues scattered throughout the entire series to piece together the puzzle of something . this of course refers to foreshadowing , but ... i think it applies here too .
there's a reason aizen's backstory is shrouded in mystery . and that's because kubo wants us (his diehard sim- er , fans) to figure it out . he's left clues all over the series & the novels : his hatred for c46 , the fucked-up situation of the soul king , the fact that the true purpose of the winter war was very likely to PREPARE the shinigami for the quincy attack etc . fandom flanderises aizen a lot , reduces him to "that was part of my plan all along" or just ... portrays him as this cartoonishly evil villain comparable to the likes of dio in jjba .
your aizen stays true to his character whilst also exploring the parts of him that canon has , so far , left unanswered . i can see your passion for him in your writing . that smug sassiness , the way this man just exudes effortless superiority (even though he may not always be superior to others , see yhwach's visit to muken) , his whole dynamic with hinamori ...
you know me , i'm an aihina diehard . your aizen has helped flesh her out , from this meek little lieutenant to a force to be reckoned with . i'm so honoured that you're my writing partner and hope that will stay this way for a long time to come. <3

AAAA THANK YOU??? OMG TORI YOU'RE SO SWEET......
i'm so glad you like my aizen...he's a guy that i both love and hate. is he one of my favorite characters in bleach? yes. do i want to punch him very, very hard? also yes.
i think to some degree it's easy to reduce him to an evil guy saying "hehehe all according to keikaku". there's more to him than that, of course. but he's also not just a poor, misunderstood woobie soft boy. there are parts of him that are deeply disturbed and brilliant and almost inhuman; ata the same time, for all his delusions of grandeur he is still just a man. he is, in short, complex, and i'm delighted that you think i do him justice.
i've had a blast writing with you thus far, and i can't wait to see where they take each other. thank you so much for the wonderful dynamic between aizen and momo. <3
