The island of Aeaea is a sight for sore eyes in the Rift: a serene oasis within the Thessaly’s now polluted waters — currents sparkling with metallic shrapnel, waves capped in gasoline, and splintered planks scattered over the surface, reminders of the slowly decomposing skeletons of wooden ships littering its bedrock. (bigger than you)

Melinoë doesn't have much fight in her today. (don't lose yourself)

Defeating Prometheus comes easier to Melinoë these days. (better than you)

Melinoë pulls a spherical bottle of honey-yellow liquor out of her pouch, triumphantly presenting it to Prometheus as if it a prize. (don't leave me in the morning)

Annette sighs, propping her elbows onto the table and pressing her palms into her forehead in an attempt to dull her impending headache. (last call)

Melinoë is beautiful atop him. (resurfaced)

Freezing summit winds whip at Melinoë as she ascends the steps to the arena. (to lose patience is to lose the battle)

Prometheus shakes his head. “You cannot learn if you are unwilling to see the mistakes in your actions,” he says and she sniffles pathetically.

a/n: i was super lazy last week and refused to make formal posts for my witchflame week contributions. i have two and this is one of them... i'll try to post the other one sometime in the week.

that said, this fic is about 20,000 words long! a thesis, if you will, and is a strange amalgamation of every prompt for every day of @witchflameweek! i crashed out many times while writing this but it was worth it.
