So, I'm trying to turn a new leaf soon and realized it would actually be best to introduce myself for starters, which I've never done before.

Hey. My name's Maya. I'm a 22 year old girl and am (still) figuring things out in my life like many people. I'm not in college (online 2020 did not work out), but I do work.

I'm not new to Tumblr but I'm not a veteran either, just kind of hanging out here. I have a discord, an insta and others, but I don't use them much. I'm not the most social person, IRL or online but I can say I'm probably one of the weirdest people out of my whole life that I know or have met. For reference, my sister is the closest person to me.

Now, if you were wondering if I had any hobbies then yes, I have them like anyone else. I write sometimes, play video games when I can, (recently especially) watch anime, and I love some good music to vibe or go berserk to, but mostly I draw. I put a lot of pride into my art and even if it's not the greatest, I want to share and make it a part of my life, internally and externally.

I won't have any expectations, but I'd like to see where this goes. I don't know what people post here but it seems just about anything does it.

Otherwise, I think that's the general stuff about me but I'm not sure. I like to think I don't do much, which I really don't think I do, but if anyone happens to see this, you can send an ask or message me (I don't know how those work either) if there's a question brewing in your head.

ALSO, just an FYI, I like gifs. Gifs are the best way for me to express myself through messages. I just love them!! Me and my sis do it all the time.

Formatting your Manuscript

If you’re planning on one day turning your manuscript in to literary agents and publishing houses, you need to make sure it’s formatted correctly. In many cases, your manuscript will be skipped over if it isn’t done to industry standard, so here’s the basics that you’ll need if you don’t want to be ignored. Before I get started, please know that this is aimed specifically at fiction manuscripts. If you’re writing non-fiction or a memoir, the expectations will be different, so it would be wise to Google what you need.

The Basics

Make sure your font is 12 point Times New Roman, Courier New, or Arial. These are the only three fonts you are allowed to pick from.

Your spacing should be 1 inch on all sides of the text. This is the default on most word processors, but double check your settings just to be sure.

Your text should be double spaced.

All of your indentations must be a half inch. Do not press indent. Instead, drag over the top arrow on the ruler to have every new paragraph automatically indent.

The Title Page

The top left-hand corner of your title page will have all your personal information. They want to see your name, address, phone number, e-mail address, the novel’s genre, and word count.

Your novel’s title is allowed to be between 20-24 point font if you want. Bold is also an option, but not necessary.

The title will appear halfway down the title page.

“A novel by [your name]” will be about three quarters of the way down the page.

The Next Pages

If you have a dedication, it will be on its own page.

If you have some sort of verse or quote, those will also need their own pages.

Do not include a page for acknowledgements.

The Chapters

Chapter titles will be 12 point font. No bolding or italics.

Chapters will start from one quarter to halfway down the page.

An easy way to format chapter headings is to press enter five or six times

Make sure you always start your chapters the same way every time.

When you start a new chapter, make sure you use a page break to bump the new chapter onto a new page. This will keep it in place so that it will never budge, no matter how much you cut out or add to the previous chapter.

Page Numbers

Page numbers will start with 1 on Chapter 1 of your manuscript. Page numbers will not appear on the title page or dedication page.

Page 1 will be labeled in the footer of Chapter 1. It should be centered.

Page 2 will be in the header of the next page.

From page 2 onward, your headers will be labeled like this:

If you insert a section break after the title and dedication pages, it will make it easier to insert the page numbers.

For the most part, this is the most important of what you’ll need to know for formatting your manuscript. I used this video as reference, so I’m trusting everything it says is true because it was made by an author who has several novels published, and because it was uploaded this year, it should be up to date.

But just remember, whenever you go to turn in a manuscript, make sure you check the website of the agent or publisher you’re trying to contact. They might have specifications that differ with the ones stated in this video, and you should always do whatever you can to abide by what they want.

A very very short piece from a short story I'm working on

But as I stand here, watching the flames roar and swarm, I don’t feel better. This warmth, doesn’t bring me overwhelming joy, doesn’t even soothe me. Instead, I feel empty – cold. No, I feel colder. It’s as if the bit of life I had left had fully been sucked out me. Funny, I always thought that had happened a long time ago.

Something’s not right. Something doesn’t feel right. Nothing bad, but neither good. My fists are wounded close. I can’t help frowning. I should be laughing, smiling at least. But it’s nothing but bittersweet. Something is missing. I know it.

I stand there amidst the collapsing house and ponder. Alone. Durian is silent. I attempt to come up with scenarios of what could be wrong, but nothing fits. Nothing fit like I expected it to.

Maybe deep down, further than my heart, than my bare feet touching the cold ground, further than my hands delving into that blotchy darkness, I know it’s because Theo did not deserve this.

Deep down, some part of me didn’t think he was a bad person. Some part of me wanted to believe he was a good person. Genuinely. But I don’t know. And I never will.

And I will not admit it – to this fault.

I’ve made my bed, and I will lie in it.

I will start over, just as I had wished.

And I will throw this cursed ring away to never haunt me of my trials.

Or my wrongdoings.

Disregarding highschool, I went out with people who aren't my family for the first time in my adulthood and I enjoyed it depsite being sick during it.

My dilema, I want to go out again but I have some issues

1. I feel restricted by my parents(mom specifically)

2. I don't have friends outside of work, like at all

3. my coworkers aren't around mid twenties and/or have kids/other things in their life that keep them busy

4. I'm so busy with work I hardly have time for myself, I work 6 days out of the week

This year I said was about me and what I want, and for my b-day I really want to do something for myself but then... my parents are talking about going somewhere for it...😑

To be fair, my b-day is on Thanksgiving but being with my family on an outing or trip is a drag. My parents are almost 60, they're slowing down, enjoying atmospheres and just being there, that's fine. My sister, she basically refuses to leave the house unless necessary, a problem of its own.

Me, as much as I stay to myself, I would like to do something, or attend the things I'm interested in: go to a concert/music festival, travel, just explore. I'm almost 24 and feel so underdeveloped. and I can't do anything without my mom saying something with a tone of doubt.

It's all just frustrating that sometimes it's as if I'm not allowed to have what I want. I almost missed that trip with my coworkers (and it wasn't because of me).

I don't have any friends, fine, I'll do it by myself. Then here comes my mom with her uncertainty and her questions. Am I a child, or can I make a decision?

If I did have a friend I'd like to do something with them because I know it's more enjoyable that way, sharing an experience. But I don't.

so here I am craving adventure, but stuck because of fear, my mom, and/or my job

So basically, I unintentionally sat for 8 hours straight binge-watching Sonic Prime. Now I LOVE movies more than shows, but I was fed. I described it as a movie turned into a series and I was locked in.

I loved Boscage Maze Amy's hair, and I loved the Amy triple threat. So here's what I worked on immediately after finishing Sonic Prime.

Art Prompt: Draw an interspecies couple with drastic size differences

Okay

So a month or so ago I had this dream (it's amazing how I still remember it). I don't know how I ended up in a dungeon but I was passing by with a group like we were tourists or adventurers.

Anyhow, this place had small cells with open bars but they were all vacant aside from bones being there. I saw this as an occult, about what I don't know, but I had the thought that prisoners were starved (to death?).

There were 2 or 3 people here, maybe like a giant skeleton monster, like a guard or something and then...there was him.

This regal man dressed in dark clothes and a coat caught my attention. His skin was red, he had dark hair slicked back elegantly and from his forehead protruded two thick horns that flowed back like his hair. He was really attractive, devilish eyes.

I had to know him before my group left. So, I asked for his name.

He smirked, intrigued. By my curiosity or my boldness I don't know but he told me.

"My name is Lagard." With conviction he spoke of himself proudly. I was drawn to him, unknowingly yet willingly. He wanted me to come closer.

Easy to say, that grin and enticing look was all it took for me to forget about my group and stay by his side. And he gladly accepted me.

For whatever plans he had going on with his occult(?), they had changed.

To what you may be wondering, it is too close to an (questionable) act to fantasize about, for me to say. All I knew for sure was that I had his lovely attention 🙂‍↕️

Overall that was it. I summarized him to be a teifling...

BUT... The funny thing about that is I had never played dnd before (still haven't) nor had any sort of connection to games related or including horned men like a teifling.

I just slept and BOOM

He was there in my dreams. 😴💜

Now I've given it some thought as to what he does as an occult leader or in general and I thought maybe he was an alchemist.

He didn't seem evil but he wasn't pure good either and I came up with the idea that, maybe he's trying to create some sort of cure to a disease but his ways of going about it aren't...ethical. there weren't bones in those cells for no reason...

Other than that, I think he's a good man. He works hard towards his goal but he goes about it to the most extensive way possible and he'll do whatever it takes. Kinda scary but admirable for his dedication.

Lagard is a serious man with wills and strength, but he's also charming and very convincing(as you can tell), so be careful. I wouldn't be surprised if I ended up part of his experiments but I HIGHLY doubt he'd go through with it. The type to keep what's precious to him really close.
