“Please talk to me.”

Eva was curled in a ball on the edge of her bed, wastebasket inches away from her face. It was 4AM and this was not an unusual position to find her in at this hour.

Victoria wasn’t normally standing in her doorway, however, and Eva wasn’t pleased to see her there. This had nothing to do with her sister, however, and more about her sister seeing her like this. 

“I just vomited the entire contents of my stomach into that waste bin, Vee, I don’t really feel like talking,” Eva croaked, rolling over to face away from her sister. It didn’t deter her, however, as Eva felt the weight of her sister sitting at the end of the bed.

“I might projectile vomit on you.”

“That’s okay.”

The pair were silent for a few minutes, each waiting for the other to speak. Eva finally moved, pushing herself up slightly onto the pillow. She had to look terrible.

“What do you want to talk about?” she questioned of her sister, her voice weak. Vee stared at her. “I’m fine, Vee, I keep telling you that.”

“This isn’t fine.”

“I’m a normal twenty one year old exercising my constitutional right to consume as much alcohol as I want,” Eva retorted. Vee sighed, standing up slowly. Eva immediately felt guilty.

“I just don’t want to talk about it, okay?” Eva continued. “Its not what we do… you know, us Magnusons…” she laughed weakly. “We’re not talkers.”

“Doesn’t mean we can’t start,” Vee reached forward and pushed some hair out of Eva’s face. 

“Maybe after I sleep,” Eva answered,sinking back down into the bed. Vee nodded and, without another word, slipped out of the room.

Both sisters knew that talk wasn’t likely to happen.

Hahahha omG yeah deF not!!!  Those are some srsly significant age differences when you’re that young!!!!  But also, w Vee and Xander being so close in age, I feel like that just cemented them as almost-twins, yknow?  Like, I feel like they spent A TON of time together and def knew everyone from each other’s classes, etc and were just super involved w each other bc of that closeness, esp since they were the definitive ~middle children~ and life came w all of those difficulties as a result on top of everything else hahahaha

Oh, def not!  I mean, they def know where each other’s soft spots are, but they also know where the big lines were that you don’t cross EVER bc you care about that person and so they were able to steer clear of ~those yknow?  Vee being Blaise while Blaise is mourning IM EMOTIONAL LASKDJFAKLJSDKLJF esp bc yeah I def agree this family is badly in need of someone to hold them all together!!! esp when some of its remaining members include ppl like Xander lajkdfkljsdfkj and Blaise needs some time.  And honestly just…kudos for trying, at all!!!!  It is ~not an easy position she’s stepping up to try and fill laksdjfklsd  That being said, I feel like Xander won’t be so supportive smdh  He’s…a mess and he’ll be like ‘ok, blaise’ in his most cutting tones when he’s particularly ticked off and she’s trying to do that, yknow?  Bc he is…a helpful person like that hahaha

Re: Xander/Emma…I don’t think that Xander has ever soberly confessed to it bc he likes to pretend that it ~isn’t true??????? bc, again, Xander is v emotionally gifted lakjdsklfjds and esp if ~Xander knows/suspects that she’s into Blaise, if sober he would ADAMANTLY! REFUTE! any such allegations!!!!  That being said, drunk!Xander is way more open and would def spill his guts on that, or just about any subject, if it came up tbh.  He also does his best to hide it but idk if Vee sees through that or not I do feel like he’s pr good at it but she’s also his sister so…who knows???  So…possibly?  

He’s also been v spotty on his alcoholism bc, when he’s out w Eva, in particularly, he watches his consumption so, yknow, he gets a buzz and all but he’s sober enough to deal w any…situations that might pop up bc he wants to be a good big brother, and if they’re going out together, there’s probs a good chance Eva’s w them?  That being said, when Eva isn’t there…he’s more likely to get like blackout drunk bc that’s how he’s handling his grief (healthy, I knoW!) and so…it could def still happen?????  Honestly, I guess, it depends what you’d prefer?????

Yessss! I feel like they were, in a lot of ways, like twins w/o actually being twins and some people probably kept thinking they were twins (sorta like you and s ahahha) 

OKAY BLAISE. ahahahahahahah omg!!!!! I love it (vee does NOT). Actually, I think that that would grate on her a little haha and she’d be like “omg i’m just!!! trying!!!!! to help!!!!!!” (not that she considers being called blaise an insult but .... you know he says it in that “okay mom” tone and it is the tone and not the words that annoy her ahaha .... and I feel like I can see that ending up causing a fight instead of helping to stop one ~*~thumbs up emoji~*~/gives vee that gold star “u tried” meme) 

okay!!!! So, as I said in some emma comments, I think that emma does feel like xander hates her??? and she’s probably confessed that to vee atp and vee probably can tell that xander doesn’t hate her but beyond that .... idk???? has vee ever known any other girl that he genuinely cares about? b/c if she’s seen this kind of behavior before, she’d spot it in an instant ... but if not, I can see where she would just think that him being occasionally mean to her is just xander being xander haha. 

anyway, I feel like vee is trying to avoid the bar scene atm (there needs to be at least 1 1000% sober magnuson!!!) but I feel like she has been holding a lot of her emotions in and is kind of stressed and sad and angry all at once and might need to just ~let go~ and I can see her and xander potentially getting drunk together sometime soon .... but if emma comes up haha who knows if even vee would remember a drunk confession from him lol 

so I guess all of this is to say, if xander has liked liked other girls in the past, then vee would know ... but if he hasn’t, then she doesn’t

Okay, so Vee loves Roman so much!!!!! I do think that, out of all of her siblings, she’s probably the least close w/ Roman, but I think that that’s mostly b/c of the age gap, which, when they were kids, probably seemed huge! I think she always thought Roman was so old and experienced compared to the rest of them lol 

I do think that they’ve probably gotten closer as they’ve gotten older, though, and the age gap didn’t matter as much. :) 

anyway, I don’t think she liked that he was working for their parents and thought it was a bad idea and has certainly told him this (has NO idea how right she was about this though hahah def does not know about all the crime but just thought it would be best for him not to be so close with their parents!!!) haha vee can be a little too blunt sometimes and she will yell at you but it is out of love!!!! and she does def want the best for roman!!!

So i’m not 1000% sure what vee would think of rita/what their relationship would be like??? I don’t think that her parent’s divorce upset her at all tbh. I think she could tell that they didn’t love each other and that their relationship wasn’t great and tbh her own relationship with both of them wasn’t great, either, so them splitting/her dad remarrying wasn’t a huge deal??? 

That being said, I think it is a little weird to her that Rita’s only three years older than roman (and only eight years older than vee!) I also think that vee’s known aaron for ages and also thought it was weird that rita left aaron for his boss and now aaron has to work for her???????? 

anyway, I can still see her liking rita, despite this, and kind of having her as a friend? I don’t think she’d ever see her as a mother figure or anything, but I can see her seeing her as like an older sister that she never had??? but i can also see her thinking that she’s kind of a bitch who broke aaron’s heart and was only out for her dad’s cash???? 

annnd I can also see her being pretty indifferent to her and not having any strong feelings either way lol. 

I’m kind of leaning towards the first option atp, but I can still see the others or some weird combination of all three haha???? So idk what your thoughts are, but I’m down for pretty much whatever??!??

Breakfast in Bed || vee + eva

When Eva was younger, she very often would wake up in the middle of the night and wander into her older sister’s room for a variety of reasons. When she was still at the age of nightmares, it was Vee, not her mother, who Eva often went to for comfort. At this point, Eva couldn’t remember if that was due to her sister being closer in proximity to her room than her mother, or if Vee was the person she knew would take the best care of her. At this point in her life it didn’t matter. Victoria was the only maternal figure in her life now.

Though she’d long ago stopped being terrified by nightmares, she still often ended up in her sister’s room in the middle of the night. Tonight was one of the rare nights Eva hadn’t been out drinking herself numb at a club. She’d been sleeping weird hours that entire time, trying to recuperate from too many continuous days of partying. When she woke up around midnight, she’d gone to the kitchen and grabbed a box of cereal from the pantry. She was shuffling back to her own room, munching on handfulls of dry cereal along the way, when she noticed a sliver of light under Vee’s door. Never one to knock, she simply pushed the door open, poking her head inside. 

“Are you awake?” she asked, the answer obvious. If she hadn’t been awake, her older sister certainly was now that Eva had barged inside. 

“I have Lucky Charms and I haven’t eaten all the marshmallows out of the box yet,” Eva added, holding up the box to show her sister.

Her room was a mess. 

And it was never a mess. Not like this. Vee liked to keep her room clean and organized (and exactly the way she wanted it), but tonight, she’d gotten the impulse to change it up without any real thoughts on what, exactly, she wanted. 

To be honest, she hadn’t slept well since the accident. During the day, it was easy, but at night, when she was alone with her thoughts, she didn’t know how to quiet her mind. This was new territory for her: for the first time in her life, she didn’t know what to do or if what she was doing was the right thing. She’d always been able to see clearly, but now everything felt blurred; like she was living in a haze. 

She felt like she was falling apart. 

And she knew that she wasn’t the only one who had been having trouble dealing with the death of their parents. Even Blaise, who was the best of them, was coming home drunk more nights than sober. 

“Er, I’m fixing this.” She explained, as she turned to face her sister. “I just thought I’d ... move things around a little.” She couldn’t reorganized her life, but she could reorganize her room. She exhaled, looking around. Clothes were piled up and her furniture was in the process of being moved from one side of the room to the other. There was a huge stack of papers on her desk she was going through and a pile of things to get rid of in the corner. 

“Come on. It’s time for a break” Vee moved the piles of clothes off her bed to make room for them, “And there’s no way I’m not saying no to Lucky Charms at 3AM.”

Framed photos + Vee Magnuson

So Vee DESPISES posed pictures, which stems from years of taking a bunch of pictures with her family where they were all supposed to look and dress and act just so, but none of it was real. 

She has a picture by her bed (that both Emma and Bianca hate) of the three of them when they were about 12. It was taken by Sophia during one of their sleepovers and it’s not super flattering of any of them. They are all laughing and eating pizza and Emma’s eyes are closed and the others both have some serious red eye going on … but they are having such a good time!!! And it was a great night and Vee always smiles (and laughs) when she sees it. <3

She also has a picture of herself with all of her siblings. It’s about circa 2002 on the day they’d all come back from boarding school for the winter holidays. They are all in the living room in their school uniforms and, again, no one looks super great. It had been the first time they’d all seen each other in months, though, and they were all laughing and talking over each other. Xander once asked her why she had that photo framed (”I hated that uniform. We look like the Von Trapps,” He’d said. “But we look happy,” Vee replied.) 

She used to have a picture of her and Eli out, too, but she took it down after they broke up. She didn’t have the heart to throw it out, however, and it is currently in one of her desk drawers. 

It isn’t framed, but since they died, she’s kept a picture of her parents tucked into the side of her mirror. This one IS posed, but it is a really old one of them and they look as about as genuinely happy as she’s ever seen them.

Awww, Vee wanting to go up to them and scream at them <3333  Hahaha but she’s absolute right!!  Sophia wouldn’t feel like she’d actually done it if they only published her bc a Magnuson put a word in, but she appreciates the sentiment, all the same!! <3  

I feel like things ~were probs a lil awkward at first, but I think mostly they moved past if esp bc yknow Vee was literally grieving at the time and these things happen.  I mean, I do think Sophia was like ‘love is deaD’ when she heard hahaha but I also don’t think she ever voiced that to Vee and, esp since she’s still friends w Elijah, Sophia’s still friends w her!  I do think Sophia does try to run interference tho if she realizes Eli and Vee are about to accidentally run into each other hahaha she wants to minimize the pain for them both, yknow?  Honestly, her friendship w Vee is probs one of the things that makes Sophia more comfortable w the whole surrogate thing!!!  Esp since I think it’s a ~lil weird since Sophia dated Blaise hahaha and now his bro’s knocked up her sister (granted, in a totally antiseptic way hahaha) but she knows that she and Vee will share a niece or nephew and at least that nibling will have a great aunt in Vee (since she doubts the Parkers will be much in the kid’s life once it’s born sadly).

oh i didn’t realize that she also dated blaise!!!! in that case they know each other from that, too, I’m sure!!!! idk who dated who first (blaise/sophia or vee/elijah) but I do think that vee would have become friends w/ sophia through one of those avenues!!!!! and if it was through blaise she would have been so welcoming and happy for them and honestly thought that they were a good couple and was sad when it didn’t work out (altho now i do think she thinks that blaise/andrea is a better fit tbh). did things end on a good note between sophia and blaise, do you know???? i still think vee and sophia could be friends, even if it didn’t, but just wondering? actually, since didn’t sophia just get out of a relationship with michael fairly recently??? and since blaise x andrea is a thing, i’m guessing that sophia x blaise probably came before vee x elijah???? ANYWAY, basically these two could have potentially been friends even more vee dated eli???? 

ANYWAY, omg vee def appreciates sophia trying to run interference (unlike SOME PEOPLE *cough*bianca*cough* who like to try to push them together) b/c yeah seeing him hurts more than it helps I think for both of them atp haha 

but yeah I think vee is kind of excited for the baby (altho she’s worried about the divorce) but overall I think she thinks a new magnuson might be good for the fam and I feel like she’s intending on being a v active aunt and babysitting when she can and I think she’d take the baby over to see sophia and emma .... omg I was thinking the same thing!!! I feel like Vee always felt kind of neglected by their mom and when she did get attention, I feel like their mother was always pointing out the things that Vee needed to fix about herself and tbh she just always felt like a disappointment when she was young and was just angry about it when she was older. And like she never wanted that experience for Eva!!!! So I do think she really tried to be there for her in ways that their mother never was??? 

Also, I think since she’s a middle kid, it’s easier for her to see when Eva is growing up vs. with the others who will always see her as a baby (since she’s kind of experienced that, too, being younger than the older ones). And like, she def looks after her, but she also knows that Eva needs her space, too, and needs to make her own mistakes and learn from them, etc. 

anyway! that being said, vee def is a little worried about eva right now??? I think she’s just going to try to let her process and deal with everything in her own way and she knows that eva knows that she can come to her anytime if/when she’s ready ... but that being said, vee also wonders if she’s doing the right thing or not haha. basically she just really wants the absolute best for eva but she also doesn’t know what that is right now :(

You know there were so many times that they both got an earful, ~not good enough, throwing your life away~ talks, etc., from daddy dearest and them just standing strong together was such a thing and you know it cost them both a loT and I just ughhhhh  I def think it did feel like a slap in the face, but it’s weird bc at the same time he doesn’t really blame her for it, yknow?  Like, I think he understands that going up against her parents only to have them literally diE isn’t a good feeling and he’s a ~symbol of that struggle that she needed to not be embracing.  

But I also feel like in a weird way…that almost makes it worse in terms of his own feelings?????  Bc there’s no one to blame and he doesn’t feel like he has a right be sad or frustrated, bc she has it so much worse, but he’s only human and so he is!!!!  And that makes him feel guilty and angry and it’s a meSS emotionally bc he def had no closure on it, emotionally, it was just one day they were going strong, next they weren’t?????  And rationally he 100% gets it, but it’s harder to face up to that emotionally!!!!  So he just represses the hell out of that shit *thumbs up*  He ~thinks he’s doing the right thing

I also think that when they got together they both sort of shared that vision of escaping all of this together, traveling somewhere new and starting over like normal ppl and being happy that way and then that just…wasn’t an option anymore.  And it was all worth it to him bc he thought they were gonna make it *waves flag*  But being bitter about that makes him feel selfish now considering the circumstances hahaha  I do think that, having been there himself, his biggest concern is helping her get through this!!!!!  And he wants to be there for her, but he doesn’t want to be in her face, and he’s having trouble figuring out where the happy medium is hahah  I think mostly he’s trying to give her her space, but if she seeks him out, he’s 100% there, yknow?

As a result of all of this, I def think it’ll be a lil weird between them!!!!  Esp bc he still has feelings for her!!!!  But I do think he does his best to just sort of push that aside and take their interactions sort of…as they come, yknow?  Like, ‘this is us today i’ll deal w this situation where it is rn’ sort of thing?????  Bc he deF wants to keep her in his life!!! and be there for her!!! and care for her!!!!  And continue at least some aspect of what they had!!!!!  It’s just rough ;DDDD  How long do you think they might’ve been together, btw?

Anyway, i feel like breaking up with him was one of the hardest things she’s ever done but she knew that staying with him would feel ~wrong and she couldn’t do that either. And I also think that she once thought that her life would be so much easier/less complicated without her parents around but she’s realizing, too, that that isn’t true (and she has no idea how right she is about that lol) and I also think that she thinks that Eli deserves so much better than all of this. 

AHHHH OMG YOU KNOW THEY DID!!!!!!!! I feel like Vee probably was even secretly saving up for the moment when they could eventually just ~get away~ and ugh you know those nights after a particularly bad run in with the parents they’d just sit up and talk and dream up little things about their future life together away from all of this would be like *cries* 

but omg okay so i feel like she’d appreciate the sentiment so! much! if she knew that he was still trying to be there for her, despite everything, but I think that would also kind of break her heart a little haha. like she left him and he’s still trying to be there for her and I feel like it just kind of cements the idea in her head that he’s too good for her and her messed up life. but i don’t think that she’d ever go to him (unless it was like a last resort type dealio) b/c I don’t think she feels like she can or should -- like they might still be ~friends~ but she feels like she’s lost the right to lean on him the way she would have once done, y’know? 

anyway anytime she sees him its def really weird for her too! i do think she probably has some unresolved feelings as well -- especially since I feel like they were together for awhile??? like maybe two or three years?? (altho i’m not married to the idea??? thoughts???)

dlakdsjfkljdKLFJKDLASJF I get so emotional!!!! about this family!!!! <3333  Hahah deF and obv it’s the same way w him.  I def feel like in their family there were the big kids and the lil kids, given the age differences, yknow?  And, like, those age differences have def shrunk as they’ve grown older ofc but in terms of growing up, I think they def felt like a big divide there with the others, at the time.  I agree!!!  And I feel like since they’re both so stubborn, their fights can get pr ugly too at times but I do think Xander has been more conscientious in terms of avoiding fights since their parents died.  Idk that it’ll be able to last too long, since he’s also much more moody, but I think so far he’s done a good job of removing himself from the situation if it seems like it’s gonna go in that direction bc I think he just can’t handle it rn honestly even if he’s more in a mood to pick fights in general, rn, he’s sure to do that w ppl who aren’t his siblings hahaha

I think it’s actually a really good thing that she calls him on his bullshit bc…there’s a lot of it hahaha and I mean he does noT always appreciate it in the moment hahaha but it’s a good thing overall.  I mean, it probs heats up the argument in the moment, but he is the sort who will brood think about it afterwards and acknowledge to himself that he didn’t handle that well or that was a load of crap or whatever.  I mean, in some things he continues to disagree, but the point is that in the aftermath when he can think more clearly, he can acknowledge he was wrong, etc.

OMG no but there’re deF more good times than bad!!!!!  You know they have their best moments when they can just seek sanctuary somewhere nice and quiet and chat and laugh and roll their eyes about the mess that is the Magnuson way of life.  OMG no but them being rebellious together aBSOLUTELY happened!!!!!  And I agree that Xander was probs a lil morE so bc he’s…intense but omg he LOVED it that sometimes she’d go along w it and they’d climb down a drain pipe and get the hell out and just have some fun together hahaha  And you know they have so manY running gags and inside jokes and sometimes something will happen, they’ll just exchange glances, and both just BURST INTO LAUGHTER smh <333333

ugh me too!!!! and sometimes I think about how much happier they would all be with different parents haha :) 

and yeah, I agree! I think growing up that Roman and Blaise probably seemed so Old and Eva seemed like the Baby (and while I think that’s still kind of true now for Vee anyway, the gap doesn’t seem nearly as huge as it did when they were all like 16, 15, 11, 10, and 5)  :) 

ANYWAY i do agree that their fights probably got really bad when they got bad haha but I think they both always knew that they’d come around and I don’t think that they ever said anything that they couldn’t move past. also! I feel like vee is in the same place where she doesn’t really wanna fight with any of her siblings right now! I mean she def will if she feels like there’s something they need to hear that they don’t want to, but she knows that they are all grieving in different ways and tbh she’s a little worried about all of them and especially since blaise (who i feel like traditionally is the one to hold them all together) since freaking out too i think vee feels like it is kind of up to her to be blaise while blaise is doing his ~thing~ (altho idk that she’s doing a great job at all haha but anyway) 

oh! btw do you think vee knows about his feelings for emma??? I actually think that she’d think that they’d be good for each other if she does but if she doesn’t I don’t think that that pairing has ever crossed her mind haha. she does know that emma likes blaise tho and while she wouldn’t be opposed to emma x blaise at all, she knows that blaise loves andrea a lot and pretty much expects them to end up getting married (whoops) so she really doesn’t see much of a future there haha

VEE LOVES BLAISE SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!

She 100% acknowledges that he’s the best of them and she doesn’t know how he does it!!!! I think whenever vee really had a tough problem she was working through she knew she could always go to blaise and he’d give her good advice!!! tbh I feel like he was probably more of a ~dad~ to her than her actual father??? 

Anyway, I do think that Vee has always seen Blaise as the glue who keeps the family together and she’s def noticed that he’s not doing okay and I think she’s probably trying to let him grieve in his own way and try to hold everyone together while he grieves their parents but tbh it doesn’t seem to be working v well and she’s more worried than ever about all of them and has no!!! idea!!!!! how????? blaise seemed to be able to do it for all of these years

haha but omg I feel like vee just heard weird things about the quasars and was like wtf???? is??? this?????? (vee: what kind of weirdos came up with that?? ;D) but eventually bianca was able to wear her down and now vee is just like “i get it now”

(also omg as a sidenote, I feel like Emma likes it too but tbh it can get a little intense for her sometimes and 1 time leck def gave her nightmares haha but she also is obsessed with the harands and would love to live on vaane and tbh keeps watching b/c she wants to see them get a happy ending …. lol ;D)

ANYWAY okay first – do you think that Vee has any idea that Bee likes Xander in ~that~ way at all???? I can see where she’d be perceptive about something like that but I can also see where it would go over her head and she’d never think that her bff would like her bro???? Okay but Vee is soooo glad that her breakup with Eli hasn’t messed up her friendship with Bee at all b/c idk that she’d be able to handle that?
