You had been feeling like shit for what felt like forever. Nothing you did seemed to turn out right, and you were stressed for seemingly no reason. Everything you did to try and make you feel better had turned out to be in vain. You still felt absolutely horrible.
One person who could always put a smile on your face no matter what was Nick.
He could always cheer you up on your worst days, and if not he acted as a listening ear whenever you needed. He was a really good friend - your best friend.
Therefore as soon as you called him, he had dragged Matt with him to come pick you up immediately. That was one thing you appreciated about him - he was fiercely loyal and stood by his friends, no questions asked.
Dragging you up to his room, he sat you on his bed.
โOkay, tell me whatโs wrong,โ he said. โAnd donโt say nothing - you were practically sobbing on the phone.โ
You took a second to think. What was wrong? Nothing particularly grueling was going on in your life.
โI honestly donโt know. I just feel stressed for no reason,โ you admitted, shoulder slouching slightly.
It was nice to finally be in his room. It was kind of like your safe haven away from the world. There was nowhere more relaxing than just hanging out with Nick.
He sat down next to you, hugging his arm around your shoulder.
โIs there anything I can do for you?โ
You just shrugged in response. You honestly felt sort of bad. He was trying to help, and you were only bringing the mood down by being so negative.
An idea popped into his head.
โSit on the floor,โ he instructed.
Giving him a weird side look, he rolled his eyes. You had no idea what was going on his brain. At least his floor was clean though.
โJust do it, please.โ
You shifted your weight off the bed, sitting criss-crossed on the floor in-front of his bed. The bed creaked as he leaned over, opening his drawer and pulling out a hairbrush. He sat behind you and took your hair out of itโs messy ponytail.
He ran his hands through it a few times, untying some of the knots before he began brushing.
โMy mom used to do this,โ you said, eyes closing.
Nick smiled before responding. โMe too. Before I went bald.โ
You laughed slightly at the memory of him with shaved hair. The stress had already began to lift off your shoulders.
The sound of your knots breaking could be heard as Nick gently combed through it, running his hands along to make sure it was neatly done.
โCan I try braid your hair?โ he asked, โMadi taught me how but I still need practice.โ
You nodded silently, enjoying the quietness of the room.
Your eyelids began to feel heavy as you felt his hands part your hair into three sections. He worked slowly, not wanting to break your relaxed state. If there was one thing about Nick, itโs that he was incredibly good at reading people, and right now he knew you just needed someone to be there - not to talk, but to sit in silence with you as you pondered.
โI remember once that you said you liked when people played with your hair,โ he said as he finished up the last few pieces of the braid.
โThat was forever ago.โ
He grabbed your hair tie off his wrist from when he took your hair down and tied up your plaited hair.
โYeah but I always remember what you tell me. Thatโs why Iโm your favorite friend,โ he replied jokingly.
You scoffed playfully at him, leaning your hand back to feel your hair. It was surprisingly neat, but when you went to look in the mirror you burst out laughing.
โNick, what is that?โ
He feigned a look of offense. โItโs quite obviously a braid.โ
You shook your head at him, laughing at the abomination on the back of your head. After taking a picture of it, you sat back down onto the bed, still in disbelief at what he had done to your hair.
โYou definitely need more practice,โ you said.
โThis is how you treat me after I just did your hair for you?โ
Raising your eyebrow at him, you replied. โI can hardly call that โdoing my hairโโ
โYeah, yeah,โ he said, waving his hand at you. โNow get into bed and we can watch a movie.โ
Pulling the hair tie off the end of your hair, you crawled into bed. You snuggled into one of his pillows as he turned off the light, grabbing his laptop and sitting next to you.
โSeriously though, thank you,โ you said.
โAnytime.โ
You both fell asleep with a random disney movie playing in the background. Finally, you felt relieved and fully rested. You could always trust Nick to brighten your day.

Matt had grown increasingly busy over the past few weeks.
His podcast had taken up a lot of his time, and with him and his brothers still putting out videos twice a week, his free-time ran a bit short.
He missed just laying in bed with you. Sleeping in until Nick eventually barged into the room and forced you guys to wake up, going on little drives at night, movie dates - he missed it all.
Deciding that enough was enough, he took a day off. Just for you.
He had planned a mini date over at his house. It was complete with snacks, drinks, a movie and a huge pillow fort that he made earlier in the day.
Little fairy lights were strung up in his room to set the mood. Bowls of chips and chocolate were strewn onto his bed, and cans of soda were set up next to them.
He had your favorite movie set up - ready for you whenever you arrived.
After excitedly picking you up from your house, he practically teleported back to his house, eager to set the date in motion.
โWhatโs the rush?โ you giggled as he dragged you into the house, pulling you past Chris and Nickโs greeting before you even had the chance to say hello.
โMatt, chill, we have all day.โ
โAnd itโs still not enough,โ he responded before opening the door to his methodically decorated room.
Your eyes lit up immediately. His bed was made into a little fort, and a movie was already prepared on his laptop at the edge of the bed. You noticed it was your favorite movie - the same movie that you had been trying to get him to watch for weeks.
โFinally giving in are we?โ you asked, referring to the movie that he had denied watching countless times.
He just smiles at you before giving you a kiss on the cheek and urging you to cuddle into the bed.
You climbed in gently, careful to not topple over the pillows or any of the snacks. Everything seemed so perfectly planned out, and your heart clenched at the thought of him doing all of this for you.
After tucking yourself in between the pillows, Matt follows you in, dragging the laptop to sit near you two.
He wrapped an arm around you, hugging you close.
โReady?โ he asked as he watched you nod. He pressed play on the movie and grabbed a few snacks to settle on his lap.
As the movie continued on, Matt began to pay less and less attention. He much preferred looking at your illuminated face, your reactions to the movie causing his heart to race occasionally. You just looked so happy, and never in his wildest imagination did he think he would ever deserve someone as amazing as you.
โWhat?โ you asked as you caught him staring at you.
His cheeks flushed slightly and he looked away briefly.
โNothing. You just look so pretty.โ
It was your turn to blush now, heat rising to your cheeks almost instantly.
โSo do you,โ you said.
A wide smile spread onto his face, seemingly brighter than the laptop screen. His smile really could light up a room. With his hair slightly covering his eyes, and the little crinkle at the edge of his eyelids made your heart skip a beat. He really was so pretty.
You leaned in to kiss the tip of his nose.
He kissed your nose back.
Now, you kissed his cheek, one on the left one and one on the right. He copied you again.
Moving to kiss his forehead and temple, he continued to replicate your actions. By the time you had gotten to his jaw, you both were a giggling mess, Matt moving to kiss your jaw too.
โI missed just being with you,โ you said as you rested your head on his chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heart.
Matt hummed in agreement. His hands played with your hair, scratching your scalp soothingly every now and again.
โMe too,โ he whispered.
โDo you like the movie?โ you asked.
Matt looked down at you, reveling in how peaceful you looked as you watched the screen.
โI like you,โ he replied cheekily.
You lifted your head to look back at him again, your noses brushing against each other at the close proximity.
โYou only like me?โ you said.
He knew you were just teasing, but he rolled his eyes playfully anyway.
โYou know I love you, idiot.โ
You pretended to be deep in thought for a moment before you jokingly responded. โYeah me too I guess.โ
Matt gently began to set aside the snacks, putting them on the floor beside him. He edged the laptop to the end of the bed with his foot.
Before you could as what he was doing, his hands dived into your sides, tickling you mercilessly.
You fell back onto the blankets in a fit of laughter.
โS-stop!โ you said in between laughs. You really missed these intimate moments with him.
โI wonโt stop until you say it,โ he laughed.
He stopped momentarily, waiting for a response. You tried to lean up to kiss him, happy for the pause so that you could catch your breath.
โDonโt think you can bribe me with kisses.โ
And his hands were on you again, playfully digging into your ticklish spots. He loved how your laughed sounded. Not just the casual laugh you would give when something was funny - but your real, unfiltered joy.
โOkay, okay! I love you too!โ
Seemingly satisfied, he sat back on his heels, helping you sit up too by holding your hands and pulling you up.
โThatโs better,โ he said, finally moving to give you a kiss.
The kiss was short lived, and you yearned for more. You always needed more.
โI think I deserve better than that for enduring your torture!โ
With an admiring smile on his face, he leaned in again to kiss you a proper kiss this time, the movie completely forgotten by now.

You and Tomioka were high-school sweethearts, you both had lasted since highschool and you both were in college at this point. Tomioka treated you like a princess, he bought you new things or he would always set up dates for you two and consistently asked if you two would want to hang out outside of school. You couldnโt be happier. Tomioka was a dream boyfriend, his black spikey hair and deep ocean blue eyes had girls always drooling over him, although he wouldnยดt pay attention he would chuckle and tease you when you got quite easily jealous and started to hug his arm while making faces at the girls.ย
Tomioka loved you, he loved you so so much. And he made sure you knew that he did. Whether it was small loving touches or being intimate he was always showing you one way or another.
You both were fairly happy so you didnโt notice the change in his strange demeanor, he was much MUCH more protective in this state he was always glued to you or fingers intertwined with his, but the one change you did notice which was insanely obvious, was his desire to go outside. Every single time you would try to leave the house or hang out with one of your other friends he would be on his knees gripping your arms begging you not to leave and if you left he wouldnโt be there to protect you because he didnโt want to go outside.
You would have guilt take over and stay with him, telling your friends that something came up and that you wouldnโt be able to come and if you had looked down at Tomioka, there was a grin on his face knowing that he convinced you to stay.
And this is how you ended up. Locked in his room, him scolding you because you went out without his permission. ยจWhy would you even think of trying to leave without telling me?! What a guy tried to take you from me?! I canยดt trust you.ยจ he sighed, you knew it was acting but still felt terrible.
ยจยดm, sorry Giyuu..I didnโt mean to scare you like that but my friend really wanted me to go out and i couldnโt say no-ยจ but before you could finish he interrupted you ยจbut you could! Iยดm better than all your friends! You only need me..only me..ยจ he spoke as the corners of his lips twitched a smile forming on his face, he had said these words so many times to a point where you believed them, you were pulled out of your thoughts as he kissed your cheek and looked you deep in the eyes to a point where it scared you, you used to love looking into his eyes, it brought you comfort. But it wasnยดt the same anymore.
He had repeated ย these words to you every morning and made you say them back to him, making him feed into his delusion all the more. At night he would keep a chain on your foot so you wouldnโt leave while he slept beside you.
But this leading behavior is where it got you now sobbing at Giyuu to let you have something to eat and that you wouldnโt misbehave again. He had not give you food for 9 hours because you had tried to go out with a friend while he was at work, however. That was the one day that he came home early and saw that you had left. And when you leave without permission, that means punishment. You looked up at him with tears in your eyes as your stomach grumbled.ย
ยจG..Giyuu..ยจ you sniffled, he looked at you and almost smiled at what he considered ยดartยด ยจYou say my name so cutely when you cry..if you say it again we are going to have to give you a different type of punishment,ยจ he giggled. You grabbed his wrist and pulled him closer embracing him to try to get him to give you food, he had a soft spot for you afterall.ย
ยจP..Please Giyuu..Can I have a warm meal?..ยจ He looked down at you, his eyes softened as your vision blurred with tears. ยจOkay! Wait right here okay?ยจ he giggled thinking to himself ยดas if she can go anywhere anyways!ยด He jumped up and excitedly speed walked out of the room to make his baby a meal, his punishment didnโt have to be this long. He quickly cooked something up before dishing it out and walking back to the basement and let the light from the stairs be the source of the light as he sat down in front of you ยจSay ยดAah!ยดยจ You opened your mouth making the noise as he spoon fed you, maybe you can live a happy life with Giyuu. He loves you more than anyone right?

Pairing: Sanemi Shinazugawa x Reader, Giyuu Tomioka x Reader
Summary: Sanemi becomes jealous of your developing friendship with Giyuu. Not wanting to have to choose between them, you suggest that they 'kiss and make up'.
Sanemi fastened his belt as he stepped out of the storage closet with you stumbling after him, adjusting your clothes so you didnโt look like a disheveled mess. The scent of sex trailed after the two of you, as per usual. You followed him outside to the training grounds. Vast land that stretched out further that you could see with healthy green grass and strong trees. The faraway mountains were covered with fluffy clouds as the warm sun caked the scenery in an orange hue.
The Hashira had all taken the day to train together. Using their own breathing styles and picking up different tips and tricks from the others. Adapting their fighting techniques and improving their swordsmanship. This was your first time seeing Sanemi again after youโd both come back from different missions. So naturally, you two snuck off for a moment to yourselves, just as youโd done many times before at the Hashira meetings.
But now it was time to get back to training. With most of the other Pillars already having sparring partners, you looped your arms around Sanemiโs. โLetโs train together โNemi.โ
He watched you latch onto him with a smug smile. โWhat, are you completely hopeless without me?โ His words were laced with arousal, the feeling of you needing him turned him on like nothing else. โIs that what it is?โ
โYou wish,โ you said, not thinking much of the joke until you spotted Obanai and Mitsuri making their way over to you. You tightened your grip on Sanemiโs arm, the action only furthering to stroke his ego.
โClingy, clingy,โ he sang.
โI am not,โ you blushed, embarrassed to be having this conversation in front of your friends.
โYou sure?โ Obanai asked, of course siding with his best friend, โYou always attach yourself to him. Following him around like a puppy.โ
Like youโre one to talk, you thought, always fawning over Mitsuri. You fought the urge to correct him and tell him that half the time it was Sanemi who was dragging you away for a moment of bliss. If you were needy then so was he. You stared straight ahead of you, looking at nothing in particular, because you knew that if you looked up at Sanemi youโd want to slap that stupid smirk off his face.
โIguro, donโt tease her,โ Mitsuri whined.
At least someone was on your side.
โItโs adorable how much she likes him!โ
You couldโve died from embarrassment but you couldnโt be mad. You knew she meant well. Sheโd always indulged you, letting you gush over the guy you liked while she shared what she found attractive about him. Almost everyone in the demon slayer corps was terrified of the Wind Pillar, it felt nice to have a friend who didnโt judge you for sleeping with him. Mitsuri was the only one who really understood how you felt about him.
Sanemi barked a laugh at her words and let go of his arm, taking a step back to address both him and Obanai.
โAlright, you know what, you two?โ The two boys said nothing, their tantalizing stares daring her to do something. They clearly werenโt taking her seriously. โIโm gonna go hang out with Giyuu instead of you assholes.โ
Sanemi snorted as you turned your back to them, his eyes hungerly taking in your figure as you walked away.
โGood luck,โ Obanai teased.
Mitsuri clapped her hands, thinking that her snake of a crush was being genuine, and also called out to you, wishing you good luck while you approached the Water Hashira. He was in a one-sided conversation with Shinobu, she was chastising and teasing him as usual while he responded in one word answers. You tapped the Butterfly Pillars shoulder and asked if you could steal Giyuu away for a training session.
She didnโt reply right away, truthfully youโd caught both of them off guard. Although you were pretty friendly, they were shocked that youโd want to spend your time with Giyuu of all people. After all, most of your time was occupied by Sanemi who hated his guts. โSure,โ she smiled. Maybe this would be good for him. โMaybe youโll finally make a new friend, Tomioka.โ
โI have friends,โ he insisted, but she had already left.
โHi, Giyuu,โ you greeted him politely.
โHi,โ was all he said, his expression blank.
Oh god, your face heated up, this was already embarrassing. Maybe you shouldโve just left him alone. Even some of the nicer Pillars had trouble befriending him as he didnโt put much effort into socializing. You mentally sighed trying to think of a conversation starter. โI like your haori.โ
โThanks.โ
He wasnโt making this easy but you were determined. โDo the mismatched patterns have a meaning or is it just a style choice?โ
He stared at you for a moment and you feared that youโd offended him in some way until he spoke, โThe red half is for my sister and the other is for a close friend.โ
โCool, are they demon slayers too?โ you asked, relieved that this conversation was going somewhere even though it was still a little awkward. But when he broke eye contact, hanging his head low, your relief was drowned by sadness for him.
โOh.โ It wasnโt hard to tell what had become of them, there wasn't a member in the demon slayer corps who hadnโt at least lost someone. For most it was used as a motivator to rid the world of demons and keep others from suffering the way they did, but that didnโt make it any less painful. Honestly, it was a pretty heavy topic to start off a friendship with but you supposed a lot of demon slayers had built relationships through trauma bonds. You tried to offer him some type of comfort, โI think itโs kind that you want to honor them. Iโm sure they were lovely people.โ
โThey were.โ A soft smile graced his features, hearing someone speak of his loved ones so kindly filled him with warmth as he reminisced on the good times he had with them.
His reaction encouraged you to keep the conversation going, with a smile of your own you suggested, โMaybe you could tell me about them while we train?โ
Sanemi had been watching from afar with an amused gaze as you struggled to interact with the Hashiraโs most antisocial Pillar. Your face was flushed and you sheepishly fiddled with your hands while he was giving you absolutely nothing. Had he not found the whole situation amusing he probably wouldโve picked a fight with the guy for making you feel uncomfortable. You really couldnโt do anything with him, could you?
His enjoyment died down, an uneasy feeling settling in his stomach at the rare sight of the Water Pillars smile. He was smiling because of you. You were probably the friendliest of all the pillars, he figured, if anyone could get through to him it would be you. He was trying to talk some sense to himself so he could shake this unpleasant feeling.
It wasnโt long before you both got into a fighting stance, ready to begin training. This calmed him down. He didnโt know why he was getting so worked up, it was only a training session nothing more. Plus, it was one interaction, after today you two would probably go back to barely speaking. He focused on Obanai who stood across from him on the defensive, distracting himself as he prepared for some training of his own. Had he known of the connection that would stem from your conversation with Giyuu, he wouldโve marched over there and ended it before it had begun.
When heโd been called to the next Hashira meeting, anxiety flared up in the pit of the Wind Pillars stomach. He kicked rocks as he made his way to the Ubuyashiki Estate, trying to ignore the stirring in his gut. He dug his fingernails into his palms to keep them from shaking as the Mansion came into view. He rounded the corner and you were in front of him in an instant. You greeted him and asked how heโd been since the last Pillar meeting.ย
His emotions settled. Of course everything would be the same, why wouldnโt it? He wrapped an arm around you, his possessive grip nearly had you in a chokehold. You didn't mind, nuzzling your head into his chest, you relished in the affection. His hand trailed down your body to give your ass a rough squeeze as he whispered in your ear, โWeโve still got about twenty minutes before the meeting starts. I think I could make you feel good and have you back here in fifteen, whaddaya say?โ
You ended up sneaking away so Sanemi could have a snack between your thighs. He was right, you two made it back to the others before the meeting could begin and all was well. Until you slipped from his grasp so you could talk to Giyuu. But your conversation was cut short when Sanemiโs arms snaked around you like a cage as he practically dragged you away.
Ever since then the Hashira meetings had been hell for Sanemi. For a while, heโd been able to keep you away from Tomioka. But then you made time to hang out with him until Sanemi showed up. And after that when he made it a point to show up to the estate before the both of you, youโd always find a way to slip out of his hold so you could socialize with Giyuu. What really grinded his gears was how you and your new โfriendโ would know things about each other that you hadnโt disguised in previous meetings, which meant that you two had to be sending each other letters.
Sanemi hated every second of it. He was fine with you being friends with the other Pillars, sure. But the chemistry you seemed to have with the Water Pillar left a sour taste in his mouth. He felt like he was going crazy. What could that loser possibly give you that he couldnโt? Technically you two werenโt officially a couple, but you were close enough werenโt you? Sanemi hadnโt entertained anyone but you. Maybe none of this would be happening if he wouldโve just trained with you that day.
The final nail in the coffin was when the Kamado siblings had been detained and brought to the Ubuyashiki Estate. Rage bubbled up inside him at the thought of one of the demon slayer corpโs very own stabbing them in the back to protect a monster. To Sanemi, the Kamado boy may as well have spit in the face of all the souls whoโd been unfortunate enough to lose someone to a demon. His anger boiled over the top when he saw you with that pathetic water hashira once again.
You begged and pleaded for him to stop but youโd only worsened his mood. He hated the way you looked at him like he was the monster for simply carrying out his duty as a demon slayer. He stared down at Nezuko as blood gushed from her shoulder where heโd stabbed her. Her eyes bore into his with a fury that mirrored his own. She was nothing more than a man eating beast hidden behind the appearance of a little girl, why couldnโt you see that? Even with the ringing in his ears he could hear your voice as clear as day, begging Giyuu to do something, to stop him. The sound of your panicked voice seeking the comfort of another man ate away at him.
Her mouth watered, drool dripping down her chin as the scents of Sanemiโs marechi blood flooded her senses. The hunger would consume her and she would attack him, he was sure of it and heโd prove it to the other hashira, to master Ubuyashiki, to you. He did everything he could to provoke her and yet she still refused to harm him.
When Ubuyashiki finally put a stop to his cruel behavior, allowing Tanjiro to keep his position in the Demon Slayer Corps as well as continue protecting his sister, heโd also reprimanded Sanemi for tormenting the two. He internally cringed at his master's words but he obeyed nonetheless. Not once did he pick his head up as he kneeled to show his respect, too afraid of seeing whatever emotion your face displayed. He could guess that it was something along the lines of disgust, disappointment, anger, if he was unfortunate enough, maybe even regret.
He was able to avoid the disdain filled gaze that he was sure heโd see if his eyes met yours, only raising his head once the meeting was over and the Pillars were dismissed. When he finally gathered the courage to look up, you were already gone, having been one of the first Hashira to make your departure from the Estate. He wasnโt sure if he should consider himself lucky for not having to face your confrontation or unfortunate for not being able to explain himself. However, heโd get his answer before he even stepped foot out of the Ubuyashiki property, whether he liked it or not.
The thought of you and the possible damage heโd just done to your relationship plagued his mind as he walked along the gravel trail that led to the Estateโs entrance gate, the Manor slowly fading in the distance behind him. He froze in his tracks when he saw you, he thought you were long gone by now, but no, you were still here on the Estateโs grounds with him.
Seeing you with Tomioka lit an envious fire inside him, the hand that was placed on your arm as a means to comfort you only fueling the green flames. If Sanemi had been thinking right then maybe he wouldโve realized that the scene in front of him was nothing like he thought. After all, Giyuu was the one who spared the Kamado siblings so of course youโd ask him questions to be able to grasp what exactly had happened at the meeting. That was all it was, no romance involved. But right now Sanemi was beyond reason, assuming the worst.
โWhat the hell is going on here?โ He growled, effectively ceasing your conversation and gaining your attention. All it took was one look at him, his wide eyes and clenched fist, for you to know that he was fuming. Although you didnโt know what caused this reaction and had been blissfully unaware of the inner turmoil heโs had for months, you figured it would be best to end the fighting before it had begun. You pulled your arm from Giyuuโs hold and cautiously approached your lover, โSanemi-โ
He pushed past you and grabbed the Water Pillar by his haori, โWho the hell do you think you are?!โ
Giyuu said nothing, allowing Sanemi to thrash him around while you tightly wrapped your arms around his bicep, trying to pull him away from your friend without getting in between the two men. His lack of a response only angered Sanemi who began to yell threats in his face, youโd hoped that master Ubuyashiki was too far away to hear his harsh words. His aggression towards the stone-faced hashira finally dwindled when he heard your voice break. As his head snapped towards you he saw the tears brimming along the rims of your eyes.
Taking advantage of his stunned state, Giyuu pulled himself from Sanemiโs grasp and turned away from you two to continue walking down the path. You tried to stop him from leaving, wanting to resolve whatever was going on between them so that there wouldnโt be any tension between your two closest friends. Sanemi watched your interaction with a twinge of guilt, he hadnโt meant to upset you. Was this his fault? Was he scaring you away? Was this why you liked Tomioka so much? Because he was calm and collected unlike Sanemi who had a tendency to fly off the handle at the smallest things? Doubts flooded his mind as Giyuuโs hands gently squeezed your own in reassurance. His heart ached hearing you beg him to stay. The Water Pillar was the most composed out of the three of you, insisting that whatever conversation you and Sanemi needed to have would only be made worse with his presence.
With that he took his leave, giving the two of you space to talk. Neither of you said anything at first, the only sounds that could be heard were your sniffing and the chirping of birds. The tension in the air was thick, the sun beaming down on you while leaves fluttered down to the ground. Ironically, it was an awfully nice day for such a sad scene. Sanemi was the first to break the silence, โDo you love him?โ
โWhat?โ You asked in disbelief, your bloodshot eyes widening as you stared at him for a moment, trying to figure out if he was serious or if this was just some sick joke. โItโs not like that with him.โ While he stayed silent, you went over everything in your mind. You thought about the animosity Sanemi had always held for the other man, to the point where Sanemiโs mind had conjured up a one sided rivalry between the two, which had only worsened with the growth of your friendship with him. For the first time since youโd asked Giyuu to train with you, you realized that he was jealous. You couldnโt understand why though, he never minded your friendships with the other Pillars. Nonetheless, you tried to quell his insecurities by adding, โWeโve never done anything together, if thatโs what you're worried about.โ
โThat's not what I asked.โ He let out an exasperated sigh and clenched his jaw, trying to prepare himself for whatever your answer would be. He held your face in his hands as he asked in a calm, gentle, tone that contradicted the whirlwind of emotions inside him, โDo you have feelings for him, even if itโs just a little?โ
Your lips parted, there was so much you wanted to say but the words just wouldnโt leave your throat. You couldnโt blame him for being skeptical, looking at it from his perspective, your friendship with Giyuu kinda came out of the blue and grew rapidly. You wanted to give him the context behind it all, that the two of you bonded over him. You wanted to tell him about the letters you two exchanged which consisted of you giving Giyuu advice on what kinds of things Sanemi liked and his retelling of every attempt he made to connect with the other man ending in failure and a fuming Sanemi Shinazugawa. The truth was that the Water Pillar simply wanted to be his friend but wasnโt sure how to engage with him. Explaining all of this mightโve eased your loverโs mind and may have even embarrassed him a tiny bit. But what had stunned you into silence was the last part of his sentence, even if itโs just a little.
You couldnโt pinpoint the exact moment when the contents of your letters shifted from the subject of Sanemi to yourselves. You both shared what you liked and disliked, your favorite foods, your hobbies, your dreams and fears. The two of you got to know the ins and outs of each other and blossomed a deep respect and admiration for one another. Youโd be lying if you said you werenโt giddy each time you received a letter from him. Maybe Sanemiโs fears were correct, maybe you did harbor some feelings for the other man.
At your lack of a response, he ripped himself away as if you had burned him. He brought his hands to his face, his fingers harshly rubbing his eyelids and pinching the bridge of his nose as he processed that his worst nightmare was coming to life. All he could think was, why? Why was this happening? Why did you have to catch feelings for that stupid Water Hashira? Was there anything he couldโve done to prevent it? The tips of his fingers pulled at his skin as he slowly slid his hands down his face, he felt like he was losing his mind. He tried to contain his anger, he didnโt want to yell at you and potentially drive you further into that bastard's arms but he could help the aggression that seeped into his voice as he asked, โMore than me?โ
โNo,โ you denied immediately, whatever you may have felt for Giyuu paled in comparison to your love for Sanemi, โOf course not.โ
โI-,โ He didnโt even know what to say to that. He thought heโd be relieved that your feelings were stronger for him than they ever would be for that parasite but knowing that he shared your heart with another, even if it was only 0.01%, filled him with rage and jealousy. As his calm facade began to crack, he determined that it would be best to end the conversation now. He needed to clear his head. โIโm gonna go.โ
โSanemi-,โ you took a step toward him but froze when he held up a hand, urging you to stay back.
โI need to think,โ he was already walking away from you as he added, โWeโll talk later.โ
You watched him disappear from your sight before you made your way down the path, headed for your own estate. It was for the best, you convinced yourself, you needed time to think things over as well. Of course if given the choice between the two men, youโd choose Sanemi without a doubt. And you were sure Giyuu felt similarly, he wouldnโt want to give the Wind Pillar another reason to hate him. If your friendship truly had to be severed for the sake of your relationship with Sanemi then so be it.
But you didnโt want it to come to that if there was another way to fix this mess. Giyuu had become one of your closest confidants, someone who you could rely on, someone who understood and didnโt judge you. Cutting ties with him would be your last resort if all else failed. You wondered how you could close the rift between them, if you could at all.
A week later, your crow was sent to the Wind Estate requesting for Sanemiโs presence. He contemplated ignoring it but he knew he couldnโt run away from his problems forever. Your words played over and over again in his head like a broken record. Heโd talked himself into thinking that in your mind he came before the Water Hashira, that youโd choose him over that loser any day. But now as he made his way to your estate, he wasnโt so sure of himself. He worried that this meeting would end the same way the last confrontation did, with you confirming his biggest fears.
As he walked through the entrance gate, he saw you standing in the doorway of your manor waiting for him. His shoes dragged along the gravel trail as he slowly made his way toward you, clearly stalling. When he finally stopped in front of you, you politely greeted him. He just stood there for a moment, taking in your appearance. Your hair was pulled back, showing off your flushed face, the sunset casted a pink glow over you and enhanced your blush as you stared up at him with those stupid lovesick eyes that always made him weak in the knees.
Fuck it. His rough hands slid under your shirt, grabbing the soft skin along your waist and pulled you into him. Before either of you knew it, his lips were on yours in a heated kiss. Heโd folded instantly, he knew he shouldn't have but it felt as if he was having withdrawals. You two had spent far longer than just a week apart when you were both sent on missions. But all of the anxiety he had over losing you made the week feel like a year with each hour passing by painfully slow. If his resolve wasnโt already snapped in half, it was absolutely destroyed when your sweet voice spoke four words, โCome to the bedroom.โ
As you led him to your room, the two of you had passed by multiple servants and trainees. None of them so much as batted an eye at the Wind Pillar as they were all accustomed to his nightly visits. This gave him a feeling of superiority, knowing that he was such a familiar presence in your life that others were used to seeing you two together. Had Giyuu been the one you were taking to bed instead of him, he was sure theyโd all look at you like you had two heads. Tonight heโd worship you, prove to you that he was the better man and heโd make sure that you screamed his name loud enough so that everyone else would know that you belonged to him.
You stopped outside of your bedroom door, turning your head to look down each end of the hall to make sure no one was coming and grabbed Sanemi by his collar, pulling him down to meet your lips once again. Without breaking the kiss, you slid the door open and backed into the room, dragging your lover with you as he shut the door behind him. His hands roamed up and down your body, groping you in all your soft spots as his mouth devoured your own.
Something's off, his conscious whispered. He tried to ignore it and focus on you, thinking about what he was going to do to give you the best night of your life. But his thoughts kept getting derailed as he became increasingly more aware of his surroundings. The hairs on the back of his neck stood up, it almost felt as if there was another presence in the room. Although he knew that he was probably being paranoid, his eyes fluttered open. He nearly jumped out of his skin when he saw a figure behind you.
His back hit the door as he ripped himself from your grasp. His momentary fear was replaced by anger as he saw the source of his misery sitting quietly at the end of your bed. Sanemiโs eye twitched, that freak had just sat there and watched you two touch each other like a pervert.
Just as he was about to tell that damn Water Pillar off, you took his face between your hands and directed his attention back to you. โJust hear me out, okay?โ
Realizing that youโd orchestrated, whatever the hell this was, brought back that sinking feeling in his stomach, like you were slipping through his fingers and he couldnโt do a damn thing about it. Through gritted teeth he asked, โWhat the hell is he doing here?โ
You took a deep breath, you anticipated this kind of reaction but it didnโt make you feel any less nervous. โHere's the deal,โ you began, โIf you want him to leave then heโll go. And Iโll stay away from him if thatโs what you want.โ You paused, not sure how heโd take what you were about to say next. โBut I wanna try to fix this if I can. I care a lot about both of you.โ
You couldnโt tell what he was thinking, his expression hadnโt changed and he didnโt say anything. You rested your head on his chest, your hands trailed down his arm to hold his hand. โItโs up to you though. Our relationship is my first priority so we won't do anything you're uncomfortable with.โ
His breath hitched at your next words, โI love you.โ
The tips of his ears heated up and his heart thumped rapidly, it was the first time youโd ever said that to him. He looked at Giyuu, his idiotic face held no emotion as always. Regardless he found himself wishing that the other man was dying on the inside knowing that your declaration of love wasnโt directed at him.
โSay it again,โ he demanded.
All three of you knew what he was doing, trying to rub salt into the wound. It was cruel but you were determined to show him that he was the one you cared most about. Youโd give up just about anything if it meant you got to keep him. So you repeated it once more, โI love you, Sanemi.โ
He held eye contact with Giyuu as you spoke. If what you said had upset the Water Pillar, he was doing a good job of hiding it. Resentment flared inside Sanemi at his lack of a reaction, was this all a joke to him? His knuckles cracked as he clenched his fists. Heโd show that bastard, he thought, heโd show him who you cried out for, who you craved, who you loved.
He looked back to you, giving your ass a rough squeeze as he ordered, โGet your clothes off and get on the bed.โ
You eagerly followed his command with excitement rushing through your veins as Sanemi shrugged off his own clothes before he noticed Giyuu still sitting on the bed watching you two underess. โThat means you too, idiot!โ
You were sandwiched between the two boys as they kissed and sucked each side of your neck. Precum leaked through Giyuuโs boxers, his clothed cock rubbing against the curve of your ass. Meanwhile, Sanemiโs erection stood proudly between your stomachs, twitching at the friction your embrace provided.
The left side of your neck and collarbone were littered in an absurd amount of purple hickeys. The artist behind the work was none other than Sanemi himself who was determined to prove himself more worthy of your love than the leech behind you. Your right side had considerably less love bites and, in contrast to the intense mares on your left, they were a soft shade of red. You figured Giyuu mightโve been inexperienced by the way he tried to copy whatever Sanemi did, occasionally causing their hands to bump into each other to which Sanemi would slap the other man's hand away and continue to grasp your plush skin.
You gasped as your loverโs teeth dug into your shoulder, earning you a much gentler bite on your other shoulder. Your fingers gripped his jaw, carefully prying his mouth from your flesh. He was captivated by you, the blush adorning your face spread from ear to ear, your lips parted as you let out pleasured pants that caused your bare chest to heave. He was hypnotized by your lidded eyes, the trance you had him under only breaking when you tilted your head to the side. Over your shoulder he saw that you held Giyuuโs jaw in your other hand. With both of their faces in your grasp, you guided them toward each other.
Sanemiโs hand shot out to grab your wrist, stopping your movement but not forcing you to let go entirely. โWhat are you doing?โ
You shrugged, your voice a mix between sultry and breathy as you playfully teased, โI just thought you guys should kiss and makeup.โ
You felt his grip on your arm tighten as he processed your joke. Just as you were about to assure him that he didnโt have to do it if he didnโt want to, Giyuuโs voice cut you off, โItโs just one kiss, for her.โ That was the first thing since Sanemi had arrived. His eyes, an endless sea of blue, stared into his comradeโs as he tried to provoke him. โThat should be simple enough for you. Itโs childโs play.โ
A vein popped in Sanemiโs forehead, that dumbass was trying to get back at him for flaunting your love in his face. Sanemi was partially satisfied that he had managed to bruise the other manโs ego but he didnโt appreciate the push back. โFuck it.โ Not willing to back down from Giyuuโs challenge, Sanemi grabbed the back of his neck so hard that it was sure to leave bruises and yanked him into a rough kiss.
As you slid out from between them to get a better view of the harsh display, your lover slapped a hand on Giyuuโs shoulder to make sure that he didnโt try to close the distance that separated their bodies. Your pussy pulsed and clenched around nothing as you watched the two most attractive men you knew come together, even if it was in such a mean spirited way, with clashing teeth and aggressive growls.
You ran your hands up and down your body, thoroughly enjoying the show. Honestly, Sanemi had held the kiss longer than you though he would. You wondered if he had surprised himself with how long heโd allowed this to go on. Your cunt throbbed, a fire building in the pit of your stomach at the idea that maybe he secretly liked it. Of course, even if he did, heโd probably never admit it. Your eyes traveled down his body, his cock was still painfully hard. Although the chances were slim, you wondered if you could ever convince Sanemi to let Giyuu help you pleasure him with your mouths.
As you reached out to grasp his cock, he shoved Giyuu away. His voice was laced with disdain as he insulted, โThat was disgusting.โ He was tempted to spit to prove his point but decided against it since you would probably tear him a new one if he went spitting on your bedroom floor.
Giyuuโs eyes shifted down to his scars, biting back, โIโm sure youโve been through worse.โ
Before Sanemi could shoot back a nasty comment, you stroked his cock to distract him while you pleaded, โDonโt fight you two.โ You pressed a sweet kiss to your loverโs lips, capturing his full attention. โThank you for doing that. It was very sweet.โ
His face heated up at your praise, he tried to downplay it by saying, โWhatever, as long as you enjoyed it.โ
You nuzzled your face into his chest. โI did.โ
Embarrassed by the mushy feelings you were giving him, all while your hand was still slowly moving up and down his cock, he changed the subject, โHow are we doing this.โ
โHowever you feel comfortable doing it,โ you answered.
He pondered it for a moment, the whole reason heโd agreed to this in the first place was because he wanted to show off how well he knew your body. To prove that he was the better man, that he was the only man who could fill your every desire, that you were made for him and him alone. Regardless of all that, he wasnโt really comfortable with the idea of Giyuu fucking you. His gaze alternated between the two of you before he decided, โHe can have your mouth, I want your pussy.โ
โOkay.โ You sent him a soft smile in encouragement before turning your attention to Giyuu. โWhy donโt you lay down.โ He did as you told him to, spreading his legs to make room for you. You crawled in between his legs, propping yourself up on your forearms and sticking your ass in the air. You glanced behind you at Sanemi who was getting comfortable behind you. โIs this okay?โ
โYeah.โ After getting the confirmation from Sanemi, you looked back to Giyuu who nodded to let you know that he was ready. Sanemi ran a finger between your folds, shocked to see how wet youโd gotten from his little โperformanceโ, you barely needed any prep. He was slightly annoyed that seeing him kiss that idiot was what got you so soaked. โTch.โ
You leaned forward, grasping the band of Giyuuโs boxers between your teeth and slowly tugging them down until his cock sprang free, nearly hitting you in the face as it slapped against his stomach. You flinched, letting out a yelp when all of a sudden Sanemiโs hand came down on your ass. โWhy donโt you ever do that for me?โ
You fought the urge to roll your eyes at the question. Probably because youโre always in such a rush to fuck me that you rip off our clothes before I have the chance. You decided against answering him for the sake of keeping the peace. With your ass still stinging from Sanemiโs harsh slap, you wrapped a hand around Giyuuโs cock, bringing it to meet your mouth. Just as your lips brushed against the tip, you were yanked back by two large hands on your waist. Sanemi lined his cock up to your entrance, pretending like he hadn't done anything. You knew that he was fully aware of what he just did but if you brought it up heโd probably just deny it. With Giyuu now out of your reach, thanks to Sanemi, you suggested, โHow about you fuck my face instead, Giyuu.โ
Giyuu pulled his boxers off and got on his knees in front of you. This time he was the one directing his cock toward your mouth. You wrapped your lips around the tip, trying to tease him a little before taking the whole thing. Of course, it didnโt work out that way, yet again thanks to Sanemi whoโd shoved his whole girth into you without warning, forcing your face further down Giyuuโs cock.
A thumb softly stroked your jaw causing you to look up at the man above you with your face still stuffed full of his cock. It was unusual to see him with such a caring expression since he was always so emotionless. โAre you okay?โ
โShut the hell up,โ Sanemi groaned, the intimate tone Giyuu had used toward you was getting on his last nerve, โYou're gonna make me go soft.โ
Sanemiโs hips vigorously slapped against your ass, his fat cock stroking your insides at a harsh, rapid, pace. You tried to be gentle with Giyuu but the momentum of your body made you pleasure him the same way Sanemi was pleasuring you, rough and sloppy. Each snap of his hips pushed your face along Giyuuโs cock, making you fit even more in your mouth than you already were. You moaned around his cock each time Sanemiโs balls hit your clit, giving you short bursts of electric pleasure.
Sanemi ignored Giyuuโs grunts of pleasure and focused on the noises you were making. The cock in your mouth and the sound of you gagging made whatever you were saying unintelligible but he could tell that it was three syllables long. He let out a laugh. โThatโs right. Sa-ne-mi.โ Each syllable was followed by a harsh thrust. Even when you were face first into another man's dick you were still moaning his name.
Giyuuโs torso tensed, trying to hold in a moan as your sounds sent vibrations through his cock. His fingers tangled themselves in your hair as he buried himself to the hilt, which proved to be slightly difficult with Sanemiโs swift movement. You almost choked as he spilt his seed down your throat. You swallowed his salty cum and pulled off his softening cock with a wet โpopโ.
Sanemi took the opportunity to steal you away from Giyuu. He pulled you to the other side of the bed and threw you on your back, wasting no time climbing on top of you and easing his cock back into your tight cunt. Now that your mouth wasnโt occupied, both of the boys could hear you loud and clear as your moans of Sanemiโs name bounced off the walls.
This is what heโd wanted all along. He wanted Giyuu to see the passion and love you two held for each other. You stared into each others eyes as he fucked into you, your souls colliding. You held him close, calling out for him and only him. He wanted Giyuu to know that he wasnโt stealing his place in your heart. No way in hell. You were his until the end of time.
โSanemi!โ Even as your eyes clouded over from the overwhelming sense of pleasure that only he could give you, you didnโt break eye contact, keeping the doorway between your souls open until Sanemi would reach his own Nirvana. Even as your body was shaking from the overstimulation, tears brimming in your eyes, you still held him close. You were soulmates and Giyuu would never replace him.
You were His.
His.
His.
His.
โMine,โ he moaned as he reached his peak, releasing inside you and staking his claim. He brushed a few stray hairs from your face, his knuckles affectionately grazing your cheekbone. โDid I make you feel good?โ
โIt was amazing,โ you assured him, combing your fingers through his hair. He stayed on top for you for a moment, drinking in your appearance. Despite all the teasing he put you through, he truly did love you more than anything. โYou are so beautiful.โ
You smiled up at him, relishing in his affection. Unfortunately, your lover's embrace didnโt last long. Sanemi tensed when he felt warm liquid ropes hit his back. He slowly turned his head to look at the man responsible. His soft features morphing into his usual terrifying expression of anger.
โSanemi-,โ you tried to stop him but it was too late, he tackled the Water Hashira off the bed and was now trying to rip his head off. Too tired to break them up, you pulled the covers over your body, falling asleep to the sound of your lover and best friend trying to kill each other.

The room brimmed with a lively atmosphere as all the Hashira, including yourself, gathered to celebrate Shinazugawa's birthday. Carefree and unrestrained, laughter and camaraderie filled the air as everyone indulged in the revelry.
The aggressive clink of two ceramic sake glasses resonated through the tatami room.
"Another!" Rengoku's boisterous voice erupted, capturing the attention of those around him.
"Another, for fuck's sakeโ" Shinazugawa hiccupped, "round," he stumbled along his speech.
Shinazugawa's flushed cheeks added a touch of warmth to his typically hostile countenance, illuminating his features with a radiant glow, allowing glimpses of his true self to shine through.
A melodious voice called out your name, gently pulling you back to reality. "You're staring too hard," Kanroji crooned.
Startled, you blinked and refocused your attention, meeting Kanroji's captivating gaze. A warm smile graced her lips, as if she had caught you in a moment of silent admiration.
"I don't know what you're talking about," you replied, a soft laugh escaping your lips.
Kanroji tilted her head, her expression resembling that of an adorable puppy seeking understanding. "You should tell him," she suggested, a gentle encouragement.
"No," you quickly replied, gathering your thoughts. Your hands were shaky, and you felt fidgety, you continued, "No, I don't think he sees me in that way, Kanroji-san." The words stumbled out.
Her gaze settled upon Shinazugawa, you followed her line of sight, eyes fixed on him. A pang of bittersweet longing surged through your heart, causing your breath to catch in your throat. The sight of him, with his radiant smile stretching across his face, was simply breathtaking. His scars, rather than diminishing his appeal, added a layer of rugged beauty to his features.
In that moment, his arms draped over Rengoku and Uzui, he joined them in a drunken chorus, slurring out musical lyrics. The three of them, cheered each other on with unabashed enthusiasm. It was a scene of uninhibited joy, yet within the depths of your being, a mix of admiration, longing, and a touch of envy intertwined.
Questions echoed in your mind, taunting your innermost doubts. When would you find the courage? When would you gather enough strength? Each time you attempted to reach out to Shinazugawa, the outcome remained the sameโsilence. His gaze would turn vacant, as if yearning to escape the situation, leaving you feeling disheartened and unsure of how to bridge the widening chasm between you two.
He also possessed an uncanny perceptiveness that astounded you. Shinazugawa had an innate ability to notice even the most subtle cuesโan involuntary shake of your hands, the instinctive act of hiding them behind your back, the nervous swallow before speaking to him, and even the times you absentmindedly picked at your skin when your hands found solace in your pockets. Every anxious detail seemed to lay bare before his discerning eyes.
The keenness of his observation left you feeling diminished, as if your insecurities were laid bare for him to see. You longed to shed the burden of anxiety, to rid yourself of the constant unease that plagued your interactions. It was an inner struggle, an insecurity you yearned to overcome.
And whenever he mustered a response, his words stumbled and faltered, as if caught in a perpetual battle within his mind. Each syllable seemed carefully weighed, as if he were constantly revaluating the potential impact of his words on you.
Shinazugawa now pulled Tomioka, drawing him onto his chest. His expression appeared vacant, only willing to endure Shinazugawa's performance for the sake of his special night.
"All right, Shinazugawa, how about we play a little game?" Uzui suggested, his voice laced with mischief. His eyes swept across the room, ensuring he had captured everyone's attention. A wide grin adorned his face.
"Go on, before you bore me," Shinazugawa retorted.
"You have two choices," Uzui declared. "Either you take five shots, or you answer my question." Uzuiโs gaze then shifted directly to you, accompanied by a sly wink, leaving you momentarily taken aback.
Shinazugawa didn't miss Uzuiโs flirtatious gesture, his sharp eyes catching every detail, "Ask the fuckenโ question."
As soon as you were certain that the attention had shifted away from you, you addressed Kanroji. "Kanroji-san, if you'll excuse me, I need to use the toilet," you whispered politely.
With all discreetness, you slipped through the slightly ajar door, seeking a momentary respite. Unconsciously, you took a breath you hadn't even realized you were holding. As you stepped into the hallway, your attention was immediately caught by a fragment of Uzuiโs question to Shinazugawa.
โWhy do you not tell her how you feel?โ
You choked; a glimmer of hope seeped through your body.
You shook your head, coming to realisation that it was best not to dwell on the possibilities any longer and protect yourself. With that in mind, you proceeded to walk away towards the gardens, where the night was at its peak.
As you tottered through the hallway, you could hear the gasps and muffled bewildered comments thrown at Shinazugawa's answer to Uzuiโs question.
After a while, you arrived at the lush gardens. Despite the absence of sunlight, the vibrant colours of the flowers and foliage seemed to emanate a soft glow under the gentle moonlight. The tranquillity of the surroundings provided a stark contrast to the bustling atmosphere indoors.
A sense of calm enveloped you, gently washing away the unease that had once gripped your heart. Like the receding tides of the ocean, your worries dissipated, leaving behind a newfound serenity.
As you strolled beneath the stunning Sakura tree, its delicate blossoms in full bloom, you couldn't help but be captivated by the breathtaking sight. The vibrant pink petals adorned the branches, creating a scene of sheer beauty and peace.
You found a comfortable spot underneath the tree, settling into a seat amidst the scattered fallen petals. Gently, you picked up a few of the delicate blossoms, allowing their velvety touch to grace your fingertips. As you marvelled at their fragile beauty, a poignant realisation struck youโyou, too, were like those petals, vulnerable and delicate in your own way.
Lost in the labyrinth of your thoughts, you found yourself struggling to fully register your surroundings. However, the distinct sound of gravel crunching beneath footsteps snapped you back to attention. It reverberated through the air, deliberate and unapologetic, as if the person behind it wanted to make their presence known.
Alternatively, it was their drunken state causing them to carelessly tread upon the gravel without concern.
You turned your head, your heart racing as the crunch of gravel grew louder.
"Shinazugawa-san?" you said, bewildered.
He came to a halt right in front of you, and a mix of nervousness washed over you. Your gaze remained fixed downward, hesitant to meet his eyes. The fear of potential humiliation loomed, as you wondered if he would unleash his usual biting remarks and cruel words that he often directed towards others.
Surprisingly, he had never treated you in such a manner before, but you couldn't help but entertain the possibility that this time might be different.
"Thanks for bein' here today," his voice devoid of any slurring, indicating that he was surprisingly sober.
You mustered the courage to respond, "It's a privilege to be able to attend this gathering, Shinazugawa-san.โ
He released a weary sigh and settled down beside you, leaning his back against the trunk of the tree. "Why are ya so formal?" he asked.
Feeling your hands tremble slightly, you instinctively clasped them together, hoping to conceal any visible signs of nervousness. Your gaze averted, you hoped that his perceptive eyes wouldn't catch the faint tremor.
"Sorry," you blurted out.
He shifted his face, turning it towards your line of sight, his eyes meeting yours. "Hey," he said, his voice surprisingly soft, โYou don't needa' be sorry."
"How was your birthday, Shinazugawa-san?" you inquired, deliberately shifting the conversation away from the previous subject.
He paused for a moment, contemplating your question before responding. "It'll be better soon," he replied.
"Since you'll be rid of my company," you unintentionally blurted out, the words escaping your lips before you had a chance to filter them. You hastily clasped a hand over your mouth.
A silence seemed to settle over the entire garden, as if time itself had paused. Shinazugawa's gaze fixed upon you. Your hand remained pressed against your mouth, trembling.
In that stillness, he reached out with gentle care, taking hold of your wrist. With a tender touch, he guided your hand down, slowly lowering it from your mouth. It felt as delicate as the blossoms that perfectly surrounded the two of you.
"You didn't hear then?" he asked.
As his words registered in your mind, you quickly grasped that he was likely alluding to his answer to Uzuiโs earlier question. Your head instinctively shook slightly.
"Well, would ya like to know?" he delicately offered.
You couldn't help but gaze at him, your eyes sparkling with curiosity and a touch of hope. With a whisper that carried a gentle vulnerability, you responded, "Yes."
His eyes softened, a subtle transformation that sent a cascade of emotions through your being. Your heart skipped a beat, as if it had momentarily forgotten its steady rhythm. The sight before you was breathtaking โ Shinazugawa, bathed in the soft glow of the moonlight, sat beneath the blooming sakura tree, a vision of captivating beauty.
"I told โem that she was too precious," his hand gently held onto your wrist, his fingers tracing the delicate contours, searching for the quick rhythmic dance of your pulse.
"That I can't bear the thought of taintinโ her being with my scarred body, mind, and soul." His voice quivered with a hint of self-doubt.
"Sheโs the most gorgeous woman I have ever seen in my entire life," he confessed. His fingers continued to trace your pulse, as if he sought solace in its booming beat.
"And so fuckenโ delicate, kind, and caring," he murmured, his touch and words intertwining.
It felt like a dream, one of those elusive visions that often danced through your slumber, filling your heart with both hope and despair. In those dreams, you would immerse yourself in a world where such tender confessions and heartfelt connections existed, only to wake and face the crushing disappointment of their impossibility.
"And," he paused for a moment, his gaze tenderly fixed on your face, "ya have the cutest smile." His voice held a mixture of adoration, as if he was genuinely captivated by the mere thought of your smile.
Your eyes widened with a mixture of surprise and disbelief. A hint of incredulity coloured your voice as you responded, "Shinazugawa-san, youโre drunk."
"No," he whispered, his voice filled with conviction, as he gently brought your wrist towards his lips. The soft touch of his breath against your skin sent shivers down your spine. With a tenderness that took your breath away, he pressed his lips against the spot where your pulse beat the strongest, leaving a lingering warmth in its wake.
"I'm in love," he confessed, his voice barely above a whisper.
Tears welled up in your eyes, brimming with a mix of overwhelming emotions. A choked sob escaped from the depths of your soul, a raw and unfiltered release of the pent-up feelings that had been hidden for far too long. It was a moment of catharsis, a floodgate opening to allow the weight of your emotions to pour forth.
Your wrist was gently pulled towards him, causing your body to sway and find its place against his sturdy chest. The warmth emanating from his body enveloped you, offering a sense of comfort and security. In the hushed stillness of the moment, his voice carried a tender whisper, as if sharing a secret meant for your ears alone.
"You're so beautiful," he murmured, his words mingling with the soft breeze that rustled through the garden.
As his warm breath caressed your ear, a delicate shiver coursed through your entire being, a poignant reminder of the electrifying connection that bound your souls together. Surprisingly, amidst the intoxicating moment, the lingering scent of sake was clearly absent.
With a tenderness that belied his usual demeanour, he gently peeled your face away from his chest, his hands cupping each side of your face with a feather-light touch. The pads of his thumbs daintily brushed away the remnants of tears that stained your cheeks, erasing the evidence of your vulnerability.
โSo fuckenโ beautiful,โ he praised. Each affectionate comment washed away the doubt that plagued your overwhelming mind.
He lowered his head with utmost gentleness, his lips barely grazing your forehead in a tender kiss. As he pulled you closer, your bodies fitting together like puzzle pieces, you felt a sense of belonging that resonated deep within your soul.
Nestled against his solid chest, you could feel the steady rhythm of his heartbeat, a rhythmic lullaby that whispered of love and devotion.
โI thought you hated me,โ you quietly admitted.
"Never," he whispered, his arms enveloping you in a protective embrace. "You," his voice softened, carrying a tenderness that melted your heart, "ya have a way of charminโ me, makinโ me speechless."
A shy smile tugged at the corners of his lips as he admitted, "So cute that I find myself at a loss for words sometimes.โ In that moment, you realised that his silence was not a reflection of indifference or apathy, but rather a testament to the profound impact you had on him.
His admission brought a blush to your cheeks, the realisation that your presence had the power to disarm even the most guarded parts of him.
A mischievous glint danced in your eyes as you hastily pulled yourself away from his chest, creating a small gap between the two of you. Shinazugawa looked at you, his eyebrows furrowing slightly. "What?" he asked, his voice filled with intrigue.
Your gaze flickered towards his lips, an undeniable longing pulsating within you. It was a desire you had kept hidden for far too long, yearning to feel the softness of his lips against every inch of your skin. With a teasing smile playing at the corners of your mouth, you raised a finger, gently tracing its tip along his plush, inviting lips.
A faint shiver ran down his spine as your touch grazed his skin, his breath catching in his throat. His eyes locked onto yours, the air around you seemed charged with an electric energy, a silent invitation hanging between you.
With a gentle yet undeniable pull, you closed the distance between you, your finger falling to your side. Your lips met his in a delicate and tender kiss, a collision of pent-up emotions and shared longing. Time seemed to stand still as the warmth of his lips pressed against yours, igniting a fire within your souls.
In that stolen moment of connection, you revelled in the softness of his kiss, the way his lips moulded perfectly against yours. It was a dance of vulnerability and desire, a silent proclamation of the love that had blossomed between you. Each brush of his lips against yours spoke volumes, conveying a depth of emotion that words could never capture.
As you finally pulled away, a soft smile played upon your lips, your eyes locked with his. The taste of his kiss still lingered upon your lips, intertwining with the warmth that filled your heart.
"Happy birthday, Sanemi," you whispered.
Sanemi's eyes softened, he reached out, gently brushing his fingers against your cheek, his touch filled with tenderness. "Thank you," he replied, his voice a gentle murmur. "You're the best gift I couldaโ received."
The garden around you, adorned with blossoming flowers, appeared even more vibrant and alive. The world seemed to celebrate your union, as if whispering its blessings upon the love that had taken root between you.
Hand in hand, you walked back towards the joyful gathering, the echoes of laughter and celebration growing louder with each step. As you returned to the festivities, your hearts entwined, you knew that this birthday would forever be etched in your memories as the start of a beautiful and transformative chapter in both your lives.

Summary: Postwar! Levi opens a tea shop in Marley and meets a young Marleyan customer. They become regulars, and after spending time together, Levi asks them out on a date.
Levi Ackerman had always been known for his stoic and serious demeanor, even after the war ended. But after years of fighting, he realized that he needed to find a new purpose in life.
The war was finally over and he decided to start a new life. He had always been fond of tea, so he opened a small tea shop in the heart of Marley. The tea shop quickly became popular among the locals, and Levi was pleased with the success of his new venture.
One day, a young Marleyan, you, walked into his shop. You had bright eyes and a contagious smile that made Levi's heart skip a beat. "Can I help you?" he asked, trying to keep his composure.
"I heard this was the best tea shop in town," you replied, scanning the menu. "What do you recommend?"
Levi suggested his personal favorite, a blend of jasmine and green tea that he had perfected over the years. You took a sip and closed your eyes in delight. "This is amazing," you said. "You really know your tea."
Levi felt a sense of pride wash over him. He had dedicated his life to fighting Titans, but he had never felt as fulfilled as he did now, making tea for his customers.
As the days went by, you became a regular at the shop. You would come in after work, order your favorite tea, and chat with Levi about anything and everything. Levi found himself looking forward to your visits, eager to hear about your day and make you laugh.
One day, you found a book in an old library, it was a book from Paradis Island so you asked Levi to read it for you. He was hesitant at first, but you insisted, and soon you were both lost in the story of the book.
As the evening wore on, Levi found himself feeling more relaxed than he had in years. He couldn't remember the last time he had laughed so much. When you finally left, he realized that he had never asked for your name.
The next day, you walked into the shop with a mischievous grin on your face. "You never asked me my name," you said, teasingly.
Levi felt a warmth spread through his chest. "I'm sorry," he replied. "I guess I was too busy making tea for the prettiest customer in town."
You blushed, and Levi felt a surge of courage. "Would you like to go out with me sometime?" he asked.
Your smile widened. "I thought you'd never ask," you said.
Canon! Levi x fem! Reader, Hange, Eren, Levi's Squad
Warnings: mentions of starving and nudity towards the end, nothing graphic, they/them pronouns for Hange, very fast proofreading( sorry, I was too tired to read it all over again) .
Request :the reader is a squad leader and has known Levi since they were little, and when Eren notices the affection that Levi has for her, and that they are always together he asks Hange and she kind of explains their history together.
Summary :Eren is has been noticing how Captain Levi is attentive towards you and keeps wondering why, so he decided to ask Hange, the one who should know better.
A/N: I loved doing it! I think it was a really cute concept which I hope to have portrayed nicely. Thanks for the request again, I hope you like it (otherwise text me and I'll think of something else)! As always, reblogs/feedbacks and everything are appreciated and English is not my first language so forgive me for any mistakes.
Eren had been around long enough to understand that even the stoic Captain Levi had a weakness, which didn't look like a Titan or a sword but had the shape of the Squad Leader he was always seen with.
When he woke up in the prison, you were there with Commander Erwin and Captain Levi. Again, during his trial, you had always been by his side and had even scolded him for being too harsh on him. It was kind of funny looking at how his stoic, bored and expressionless face contrasted with your smiling and kind one.
Now, in the former headquarters of the Survey Corps, it was even more evident that there was something between the two of you. Whether it was admiration, close friendship or maybe love, it was crystal clear to anyone who looked at your behavior.
He was even more sure of it when he went downstairs and heard you laughing at something he said.
"Sorry to disturb", Eren said, peeking behind the wall. "Top floor is cleaned, Sir", he added while looking at the Captain. He felt that he was intruding on a very personal moment, since you seemed flustered as you raised his face cloth to his nose again.
"Hey Eren", you said, quickly moving away from the Captain, who seemed a little bit embarrassed as well.
"I'm going to check out the rooms you cleaned", Levi said. Then he turned to you and, with a silent conversation, invited you to go upstairs with him.
Eren stood still against the wall, watching you following the Captain with the corner of his eyes.
"You look disappointed". Petra appeared at his side, while wiping the floor with a broom. "He doesn't seem like the hero that people make him to be, doesn't he?".
Eren swallowed. "I would say I look more embarrassed".
"Oh, you don't have to!", she kindly said, smiling at him. "I get that you are still a rookie, but please feel at ease around us!".
"I was actually referring to Captain Levi and Squad Leader", he explained awkwardly smiling.
Petra stopped sweeping and placed both of her hands at the top of the broom. "Why is that?".
Eren scratched his head. "Well, I think they wereโฆ".
"Hey Eren". The Captain's voice made him jump on his spot. As if he wasn't embarrassed enough.
"Yes, s-sir!". He felt sweat dropping out of his front head.
"You call that clean?", the raven-head man asked with a sarcastic tone. "Do it all over again".
Eren internally groaned and went upstairs but smiled smugly when he noticed how you were straightening your shirt and putting your hair in order.
The same evening, the other members of Levi Squad picked him up from his underground bedroom and dragged him into a room. Petra, being nice as always, had explained to him that Captain liked to have dinner together, followed by a cup of tea.
When they got inside, Eren noticed that you were already there. You and the Captain were sitting close at the wooden table, plates already placed.
"Hi everybody", you greeted with a big smile, waiting for them to sit down. "How are you doing, Eren?".
"Everything is fine, Squad Leader, thanks for asking" he politely answered, kindly smiling at you.
"She did", Levi pointed at you. "Although you didn't have to".
You smiled at him. "I wanted to, they need to recover their energy".
Again, Eren was speechless when he saw the Captain playfully pinching your left arm and giving you part of his meal. It seemed like he was taking care of you, making sure you ate enough. That scene made his heart flinch, both because it made him remember his lovely mom and also because those gestures were very cute.
While the others were talking loudly with each other, asking for his opinion every now and then, Eren curiously kept an attentive eye towards you too, noticing how Captain Levi kept asking you if you were still hungry, ready to offer his food to you. It was really nice.
"Oi, brat". The Captain looked directly at him. "What are you smiling at?". Eren felt himself sweating for the second time that day, fearing the short man's reaction to his honest answer. "Hange's going to arrive soon, there's nothing to be happy about".
Eren sighed a breath of relief, happy that he wouldn't sound creepy. He soon regretted it when Squad Leader Hange arrived and they couldn't shut up about Titans.
A few days later, after Sawney and Bean had been killed, Hange relieved their stress running experiments on him.
To say that he was tired was an euphemism but what was more frustrating was that he couldn't manage to transform into a Titan. Everyone was relying on him, yet he couldn't be their salvation.
"Does it hurt?", you asked him, while bandaging up his bitten hand. Although you were very delicate with your actions, sometimes you pressed specific points which caused him to flinch.
"It's nothing", he answered with his head down.
"Are those bites closing?". As always, Captain Levi was there with you, paying attention to every one of your movements.
You sighed. "It doesn't seem like it. Which is weird, Levi, since his tooth grew almost immediately". Your tone was apprehensive and scolding at the same time.
"Stop bringing that up, brat. Erwin told me to kick him". The Captain rolled his eyes before playfully ruffling your hair.
A few moments later, Levi's Squad sat with him at the table, offering him a cup of tea, which he kindly accepted. The weather was perfect, with a blue sky and some clouds scattered here and there: it didn't match his humor, though.
The Captain and you were the only ones standing up. He was disappointed enough to look as he did the other times but, nevertheless, he engaged a little in it. From his angle, Eren could only see Captain Levi's face while you had your back to him.
The Captain was looking at you as if you were an angel on earth. Eren was pretty distant, but he could say without a doubt that his lips showed the softest of smiles.
He got so distracted by seeing that lovely scenery that he dropped the spoon on the grass. Eren extended his bandaged hand to get it andโฆ
BOOM!
He had turned into a Titan. Or, well, parts of his body, such as his arm, did. He looked up and saw Levi's squad with their blades pointing at him, while the Captain was shielding you with his small frame.
Again, very cute, but at that moment he had different problems.
"Tell me again how it happened". Hange's brown eyes were staring directly at his green ones. They were the only one ecstatic about what had happened a few hours prior, literally begging him to let them touch their arm.
"I touched the spoon and turned into a Titan", Eren honestly answered.
"That is so wonderful!", Hange exclaimed again. The fact that they were the only one happy about what had happened made him wonder if Hange was weird or the others were. "I'm sorry for how everyone reacted, they only got scared".
The boy lowered his head. "I get it", he said. "Captain Levi was shielding the Squad Leader, as if I could hurt her. I would never do such a thing, though".
"Oh, I know Eren, don't worry", the brunette stated, waving their hand in the air. "About Levi and Squad Leader, he would have protected her even if there was a fly".
Eren smiled, feeling more at ease. "Squad Leader Hange?", he asked, hoping not to sound too intrusive.
"Yeah?".
"Could I ask you what's between them? She seems to be the only person the Captain cares about most of the time".
Hange smiled widely. "I wouldn't say so", they started. "Levi cares for people, he really does, he just has difficulties in showing it".
"I'm sure of it".
"However, you are absolutely right. They have been attached to the hip ever since they joined the Survey Corps. I once asked her about it and she told me that they were childhood friends, born and raised in the Underground. She also told me that they looked out for each other, assuring that nobody was either hurt or starving. When they came out of the Underground, they had two friends who died during an expedition. From that on, I've seen them sharing more and more time together, becoming the affectionate mess they are now".
"I'm so sorry to hear that", Eren said, honestly feeling heartbroken for what the Captain and you had to go through. Now he understood why the short man was so tough.
"It's actually nice seeing how he cares for her, you know?", they continued. "I think she is the only one who can drink from his cup of tea without being attacked".
"Are they dating or something?". The brown-haired boy didn't care about being nosy anymore, since it seemed that Squad Leader Hange shared his same ideas.
"That's the problem!", they exclaimed, holding their hands in the air. "I don't know! Shorty is so damn closed that it's hard to get something out of him!".
"Oh, I get it", Eren answered, feeling slightly disappointed. " They would be cute, though".
"I KNOW RIGHT!?".
Hange felt quite tired, to be honest. They had been running experiments on Eren all day long, without obtaining any new results. It wasn't his fault though; they understood that it was a difficult task to turn into a Titan and control his powers. They didn't blame him.
An idea popped up into Hange's mind and they instantly thought of talking about it to Levi.
They literally ran in the corridors of the castle, breathlessly reaching the short man's office.
"Levi, I've got a wonderful-".
Hange froze seeing the scene in front of them. After slamming the door, they instantly realized that Levi wasn't alone and, also, wasn't fully dressed or dressed at all. His shirt was off while the other part of his body was covered by a blanket, like your body. They have also noticed how you two were kissing each other seconds after Hange had sprinted into the room, without even knocking.
Levi managed to cover you with his body, while angrily throwing the pillow at their face. "FOUR EYES, WHAT THE FUCK-".
"OH MY GOD", the brunette exclaimed, screaming in excitement. "I NEED TO TELL EREN!".
Training with your Fiance!Levi and feeling his eyes on your body the whole time. His gaze lingers on the curve of your ass, hips and thighs, he bites his lip from time to time imagining that he is gripping them as he pounds his cock into you.
Eventually, Levi gets so sexually frustrated that he can't take it anymore. He slides his hand into your back pocket and spins you around until your body is pressed against his, squeezing your ass playfully. You can feel how hard he is in his pants. "What do you say we do some inside training hmm?" Your fiance whispers in your ear.
you were 12 when you first met eren. you knew him as the bright green-eyed boy who had the most determination as compared to any of the other kids that joined the scouts.
you always watched eren in awe whenever he showed his will power to defeat all the titans, his strength never failing to make you want to better yourself. after training, you would always take a seat on the same table as eren, choosing to sit on the opposite of him. as months passed, you eventually got closer to the boy who sought freedom and you were fortunate enough to have found a safe place within him.
you were 15 when you killed your first titan, your first instinct to turn towards the boy who always offered you a hand to get up whenever you fell down. you were met with erenโs wide eyes that were full of hope. after your first kill, your heart swelled with immense pride and joy. you were only able to get this far with the support from eren.
it was always eren.
eren who always helped you up whenever you fell.
eren whose determination and strength inspired you to want to be as good as him.
eren who reassured you whenever you felt lesser than the other cadets.
eren who was your first and last love.
you should have known better than to fall in love when people, your fellow soldiers, were at risk of dying almost everyday. and yet, the boy with the bright green-eyes that were full of hope still took up place in your heart.
you were 16 when you finally decide to pursue your feelings for the boy instead of pushing it aside.
โdo you think weโll ever be free one day?โ
you turned to look at eren, whose hair was flowing in the wind as the both of you sat on the grass, after sneaking out to get some fresh air. you werenโt fazed by his question as the boy often talked about freedom but now his question prompted another. what was freedom and why did you feel it whenever you were around him?
โi donโt know, eren.โ
โall i know is that i feel free whenever iโm with you. i donโt want to leave you.โ
now it was erenโs turn to look at you, your eyes meeting as you moved closer to him, your hand resting atop of his.
the silence was deafening. maybe you shouldnโt have said that after all.
you were pulled out of your thoughts by eren intertwining his fingers with yours, his thumb rubbing over the back of your hand. even though he didnโt say anything, the look in his eyes revealed everything. the both of you sat in silence as you held onto his hand tightly, scared of what would happen if you let him go.
you were 17 when everything fell apart. you were together with eren during a mission when the gas on your odm gear started to malfunction, feeling yourself start to slow down not only from your faulty gear, but from your injuries as well. you could hear the roar from the titan behind you, cursing to yourself as you tried to do your best with your malfunctioning gear. now, you were facing death. you could either let go of your gear and drop to the ground to find somewhere to run to, or you could use what gas you had left to fight the titan behind you to save your squad.
of course, you choose the latter, risking your life to save everyone else. you never thought twice before doing something and eren would always nag at you for it while you sheepishly apologised. your lack of better judgement would be the death of you, your gear finally stopped working as you fell to the ground. you could hear eren and hange calling out your name, the sound of an odm gear coming your way. you could see eren from the corner of your eyes running towards you, but you were losing consciousness too fast to comprehend everything.
you could only feel erenโs hand in yours, his fingers intertwined as he yelled. he yelled at you to get up like you always did. you would always take his hand and get on your own two feet with a smile on your face, promising to improve yourself. why werenโt you getting up now? tears from erenโs eyes dripped onto your face as you lightly squeezed his hand with what little strength you had left.
โiโm sorry.โ
eren should have known better than to get attached. he knew what would happen in the future. he shouldnโt have held your hand that day. he should have pushed you away when you told him you were free with him. he didnโt and now he was alone without you.
years have passed since that day and eren still thought about you and what you two could have been if the world was kinder to the two of you.
his demise was coming soon and he couldnโt do anything about it. all he could think about was that day when you left him. would it have been easier if you survived? would you have still loved him even after he became a monster?
a tear slipped from his eye as he resigned to his fate. one day you two would be free together.
โeren eren!โ
the boy opened his eyes only to be met with a girl with a familar face.
โcome on, eren! donโt you remember me?โ
taking a better look at the figure in front of him, his eyes widened.
โsashaโฆ?โ
the girl nodded excitedly, pulling him into her arms as she rambled on about how happy she was to see her old friend.
โi was so lonely here! thank god youโre here now though!โ
eren smiled at the girl, a bittersweet feeling entering his heart as he watched sasha jump up and down from how happy she was.
โitโs been awhile, hasnโt it, eren?โ
he immediately whipped his head around at the familiar voice, looking up at the two people who looked after him while he was a cadet.
โerwin and hangeโฆโ
they smiled at the boy, erenโs heart filled with warmth at the sight of his peers.
โyou havenโt forgotten about me, have you?โ
erenโs heart stopped for a moment, his eyes filling with tears. itโs been so long since heโs heard this voice.
eren turned around to find you standing behind him, a soft smile on your face as you welcomed him with open arms.

a/n: I APOLOGIZE FOR POSTING THIS SO LATE OMGG,,, i was out of town this past weekend and i got busy yesterday loll so it just kept getting delayed :(( ITS OKAY CAUSE HERE IT FINALLY IS!
โWho are you?โ you peered at the boy in front of you carefully. โIโve never seen you here before.โ
You were finally able to get out of the royal duties you were forced to take part in, despite being only thirteen years old, and came down to the stables hoping to finally gallop away from all the issues of the kingdom that were dumped on you unwarranted.
โIโm taking over the stables,โ the boy huffed proudly, a boasting smile on his face.
He was tall, with clean cut brown hair and a long face. You knew he was most likely the son of someone who worked in the stables, he looked far too young to be fully in charge of them.
โSo that makes you a horse-boy!โ you giggled. The joke wasnโt very clever, but your thirteen-year old self certainly thought it was. His long face sort of reminded you of a horse.
โI am not a horse-boy!โ he scoffed as he crossed his arms over his chest.
โYou look like a horse.โ
You watched as his face twisted into shock before he shouted back, โDo not.โ
โDo too.โ
โDo not!โ
โDo too!โ
โOh yeah? Well if my nameโs โhorse-boyโ now, the- then yours is- umm.. well then yours is idiot girl!โ
He watched as the smile slipped off your face and fear was suddenly filling his entire being. You were a noble kid. He could tell by the very outfit you were wearing to go riding - with its pristine, clean cut lines and the spotless linen. His parents could be punished if you were snooty enough, running away and crying to whoever your parents were that the โmean boy in the stablesโ called you an idiot.
Why the hell did he just say that to you?
But here you were, laughing at it instead. His eyes widened dramatically as you doubled over, with your chest burning and aching as you coughed out a few more chuckles. Now he was curious.
None of the nobles heโd encountered that day, adult or child, said much more to him than โready my horseโ, or โhelp me get onโ or something along those lines. They didnโt seem to care that heโd never really been there before, and passed him off as a random little boy who was working. But even those were the polite people. Others said nothing, sneering down at him in disgust while they did what they had to or was just passed by.
He hadnโt even spoken a word to them!
โI havenโt laughed like that in a long time,โ you sighed as you began standing up straight again. โThanks for that.โ
You patted him on the shoulder, and began moving further into the stables to grab your horse. You didnโt really need his help to put her bridle or saddle on after doing it for so many years.
The boy looked at you curiously as you passed, watching from the entrance as you began setting your horse up wordlessly. You actually knew what you were doing, unlike some of the other noble children whoโd pushed his help away and insisted that they knew what they were supposed to do though it was very obvious that they would end up hurting themselves in the end.
โSo, uh whatโs your name?โ the boy asked suddenly.
โI should be asking you that,โ you replied. โYouโre the one thatโs new here.โ
โItโs Jean,โ he sighed as he rolled his eyes. It was bad manners to do that, and he knew it. But you werenโt even looking in his direction as you spoke, more busy swinging the saddle up over the back of your horse before you buckled it under her belly.
โI like horse-boy better,โ you hummed.
โWell, are you going to tell me yours?โ he asked impatiently.
โI dunno. I kinda like โidiot girlโ better than my real name,โ you giggled. Youโd finished in an almost record time, and Jean watched as you led your horse out of her stall with the lead rope, silently as you made sure to lead her slowly and carefully so she wouldnโt be spooked by any sudden movements.
โWell Jean, Iโll be back in a bit. You donโt need to muck her stall either, Iโll do it when I come back - it gives me a chance to stay out longer than necessary,โ you called out behind you where Jean was leaning against one of the poles.
And he watched as you saddled yourself expertly and rode off into the path in the forest, galloping at full speed. He was more curious to know who you were more than ever - it didnโt seem like you were that high up as a noble. But your riding attire and horse said otherwise. Clearly you were more important than youโd like to be.
โExcuse me, but could you tack my horse up to ride?โ
Jean looked around startled at the sudden voice, turning to see a boy around your age walking in with a serious look on his face.
โY-yes, of course,โ he responded, mentally berating himself for not paying enough attention to his surroundings.
โHeโs the mustang on the back left,โ the boy said coolly as he leaned against the entrance and picked at his nails.
Jean went back quickly and grabbed the saddle and bridle that were hanging near the horseโs stall, quickly and quietly throwing it over the brown horse that stared back at him unamused - it didnโt seem to like its rider very much.
โI see the princess already left, figures,โ the boy at the entrance scoffed, and Jean followed his line of sight to the only stall that was empty.
The one your horse was in.
Jean turned quickly back to the horse in front of him, the one now huffing and kicking at the pieces of straw that lingered outside of the stalls in impatience. He quickly led him over to the boy at the entrance, watching as the boy took the lead rope boredly and walked outside without saying anything else.
...So, you were the princess.
Somehow, heโd never envisioned you the way you presented yourself, normal and like any other person on the planet. Heโd thought youโd be some awe-striking, glorious looking girl - one with manners and extreme sophistication. But you laughed at him calling you an idiot. It was a nice thought, that you were nice just to be a good person. But he supposed it was out of pity rather than the goodness that filled your heart.
Horse-boy, huh?
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
โIโm so fucking exhausted,โ you sighed as you slumped yourself against the tree.
Jean turned to look at you, away from the sight in front of him with a chuckle. โWell, youโre here now, right?โ
That statement was true.
Hanging out in the pasture with all your friends was always something to be enjoyed. Especially in evenings like this, where the little hill the lone tree you were currently slumped upon sat, gave the perfect view of the setting sun over the horizon; mixed with the laughs and yells of your friends as they all played and joked at the end of the day.
Jean had matured greatly from the first time youโd met those couple years ago. The both of you now sitting at eighteen was shown by the differences you would randomly notice.
Like that time two weeks ago, when you realized just how much taller he was, than you to be exact. Or when he noticed only a couple months ago that you'd stopped cutting your hair short, even though youโd been growing it out since you were sixteen. (But maybe that had to do with the fact that your hair grew very slowly.)
โI want out of this stupidity,โ you droned. โTheyโre making me do so-fucking-much. Itโs like theyโre expecting me to take over the country as soon as I turn nineteen! I donโt have the energy for that! Iโve barely even done anything with myself yet.โ
Jean couldnโt really relate to your problems. Most of his had to do with how his back was hurting and how it was going to restrict him from working in the stables, or how a mare was going to be due soon. But listening to you ramble about how stressed you were, or about the work you always had to do with diplomats and such, was nice in a way. It was weird of him to say, or even think about, because it wasnโt good for you in any way and he saw that - but for some reason he adored the fact that you always came to him with your problems.
You couldโve easily gone to Mikasa or Sasha - or even Eren if he really thought about it. But, you always came to him to vent.
Something about that felt familiar from the first time the two of you met, and it was something he didnโt want to let go of.
โYou shouldnโt curse so much,โ Jean pointed out quickly. โIf you curse a lot here, then youโll run your mouth at a meeting. And, I donโt think we want a repeat of that meeting with Dรฉspoir.โ
You looked at the stupid smug smile he was wearing and rolled your eyes. โShut up horse-boy.โ
That nickname.
It never wore off, no matter how hard heโd tried to stop you when you were younger. It stuck like a bee in its own honey. He shouldโve hated it, especially with the degrading tone that it was supposed to be used in.
But it wasnโt.
When it came from you it never felt like that. It was just a simple nickname.
โHey horse-face!โ Eren called out. โStop being fuckinโ bum and come beat me! Iโve already beaten Connie, like twice!โ
โYou cheated!โ you heard Connie shout back.
Jean rolled his eyes as he turned to you with an exasperated look, raising his eyebrows as he slumped himself further against the trunk of the tree in exhaustion.
โGo beat him,โ you chuckled as you patted him on the back. โShow Mikasa, yeah?โ
You didnโt notice the way Jeanโs expression dimmed from its playful, cheerful light to a more dejected one at the mention of Mikasaโs name. You only assumed it was nerves or anxiety of some sort, as you clapped his back one again to urge him to get up.
โGo. Sheโs waiting.โ
Why had he ever told you about that stupid crush he had on Mikasa all those years ago? And why did he continue to make you believe that he still had one on her? He knew he didnโt. They were just friends, and it became incredibly obvious when he got older that he didnโt really see her in that way - staying as something that was only from his childhood.
But he never corrected you. And now, with you trying to be a good friend and push him into confessing the โfeelingsโ he had for her - he wasnโt even sure what he felt about it. He wasnโt really able to figure out what he was feeling anymore.
But the smile remained on, and Jean gave you a final look before jogging down the small hill to where the rest were sprawled out and running around.
You wouldโve also joined them on the regular occasion, but it seemed like you were far too burnt out today - as youโd been for the past two weeks or so.
It was almost alarming, and Jean believed that your fear of being placed on the throne as soon as you turned nineteen was looming over their friend groupโs heads like a shadow creeping its way across the forest.
And the fact that you were even still able to associate with peasants like them at this point was almost alarming.
None of you were sure why it was even allowed, due to the unspoken rule that it was highly inappropriate. Surely you shouldโve been more outcasted by the rest of the nobles in the castle grounds but for some reason they never seemed to care. But, the possibility that all this would end as soon as you were placed on the throne was enormous.

โThank you Mikasa,โ you smiled at her from the mirror. โI couldโve done this myself, though.โ
โNonsense,โ she smiled back. โItโs my duty as your handmaiden after all. Itโs not a big deal.โ
She carefully threaded the ties of the corset through the back, her fingers moving quickly and nimbly as the thread was passed in and out of the fabric. You watched her serious face from the mirror, remaining in its normal stoic place as she worked.
She was beautiful in ways you could never be, and stronger in others. It was no wonder Jean liked her, actually.
โI have a question for you,โ you asked her slyly.
โOf course, what is it?โ
โWhat do you think of Jean?โ
You saw the way she paused for a moment, the pulling on the corset ceasing as she only looked downwards in the mirror. Her face still showed no emotion, just quiet and unmoving as it had been before.
โHeโs a good friend of mine, Iโve known him since we were kids. Why do you ask?โ she finally answered.
โWell, I dunno,โ you tried to shrug half-hazardly. โI just wanted to know.โ
โWell,โ she chuckled slightly. โI do know who he has a crush on.โ
She knows he has a crush on her? Damn how the heck did that happen?
Did he tell her or did she end up figuring it out on her own?
I swear to god if Eren told her Iโm going to wring-
โIโm surprised you donโt seem to know,โ she giggled at the expression on your face as she finished tying the knot in the back. โI thought it was quite obvious.โ
โWhat- No, I know who he has a crush on too.โ
โOh,โ she echoed back.
You got up from the stool and made your way over to the screen where your gown was hanging over. You began to tie the petticoat around your waist before lifting the dress over yourself and laying it over while the silence remained between the two of you.
โWell, what did you think about it?โ Mikasa finally asked.
โI donโt think it matters what I thought about it, I think your opinion matters a lot more in this situation.โ
โWhat do you mean? Of course your opinion matters,โ she responded to you deliriously. โYouโre the one he likes. Why would my opinion matter in that situation?โ
โWhat?โ you paused. โWhat are you talking about?โ
Mikasa turned to you quickly with a questioning look. โI thought you said you knew who he liked.โ
โYeah, you!โ
โWhat? No, he doesnโt.โ she reflected quickly.
โYes, he does,โ you emphasized. โHe told me so himself.โ
โI donโt believe you,โ she looked at you skeptically. โIโve seen the way he looks at you and the way he acts around you. Thereโs no way he doesnโt like you.โ
โBut heโs liked you ever since we were fourteen!โ you called back. โHe told me so and he still does.โ
โOh that?โ Mikasa rolled her eyes. โI knew about that. Jean isnโt exactly subtle, but he got over that so long ago. Youโre the one he likes now.โ
โHow is that possible?โ you questioned. โWeโre friends. Weโre only friends. He wouldโve told me if he felt that way.โ
โTo be honest,โ Mikasa stood in thought. โIโm not sure heโs realized it himself. When it was obvious he liked me it was because of how outspoken he was about it - to himself, at least.โ
โSo to sum this all up - youโre saying Jean doesnโt have a crush on you, even though heโs told me that since we were fourteen; and that he actually has a crush on me, but he hasnโt even realized it?โ
Mikasa only nodded back with a serious look, and you just stared at her like she was crazy. Well, the whole situation was crazy - how could it not be?
But at that moment, there was a knock at the door and the both of you looked away to see who walked in.
โHey guys,โ Sasha stated lightly as she practically stumbled in. โDinner will be served in a few so your father sent me to come get you Y/N. Are you dressed?โ
โHuh? Oh- uh yeah. Iโm coming.โ
Mikasa gave you a knowing look while you continued to stare at her confused. She quickly readjusted your dress over the petticoat to make sure it was laying properly before sending you out the door with Sasha.
โWeโll talk about it later,โ was all she said.
The creak of the wooden door closing behind you echoed into the hallway and Sasha just gave you a smile before gesturing for you to go down first.
From your room in the tower, you could hear the pattering of the rain against the roof of the castle, accompanied by the occasional cracks of thunder and bursts of lightning that could be seen from the couple of windows in your descent. As much as you liked the rain, the atmosphere put a damper on the happy mood youโd been in since the evening.
Everyone had brought food and all of youโd had a picnic earlier under the tree in the pasture, with tea and desserts. Itโd been as sunny and nice as it always was, with nothing indicating that rain would be forthcoming. But, such is life.
But now with Mikasaโs ideas swirling in the atmosphere, you were more confused and upset. Surely you shouldโve noticed that Jean liked you.
But then again, if he didnโt even know how were you supposed to know.
The lights of the dining hall came in sight, and you waved bye to Sasha before taking a breath and walking in. A smile must always be worn in the presence of other nobility.
You walked in slowly, taking in the few other nobles seated around the table as well as your father who sat at the end.
โI apologize for being late,โ you stated quietly. โI lost track of the time.โ
Your father didnโt say much, only gesturing for you to take your seat beside him.
You bowed slightly before slowly making your way over, keeping track of the other noblesโ eyes on you. You knew that they were thinking your late entrance was incredibly rude, but what the hell were they supposed to say about it at this point?
A servant quickly pulled out the chair when you reached your seat, and you thanked him before placing yourself down as gently as possible so you wouldn't be mentally berated by the other nobles any further than you could already tell you were.
The food was brought out almost instantly, and for the first few minutes only chewing and the sound of silverware clinking against plates could be heard as everyone tucked in. You preferred that, honestly, over the sound of politics being debated and someone scolding you for not having correct manners.
As if you gave a fuck about any of those things.
โY/N,โ your father called out after taking a small sip of his wine.
โYes?โ
โTomorrow, the family of Narva will be attending our meeting. Weโre thinking of creating an alliance between our kingdoms, so Iโd like for you to be present.โ
โOkay,โ you responded thoughtfully. โIโll be there. But, what kind of alliance?โ
โWell, Iโve been discussing it with a couple of my advisors and I believe that it would be best that you marry their son.โ
โWhat?โ
At that moment, all your thoughts of trying to maintain your โnoblenessโ were lost and you no longer cared about the stupid opinions of all those sitting around you with nothing better to do.
โHow could you do that to me?โ you shouted as you stood up from the table. โHow the fuck am I supposed to hear that without any warning?โ
โLanguage,โ your fatherโs eyes flashed.
His stern tone silenced everyone on the table, and all the other nobles stopped sneering amongst themselves to give him their attention.
โI knew you would respond to this news this way, thatโs why I never told you anything,โ he huffed. โItโs time that you grow up, Y/N. You need to stop with this childish behavior and rise up to become the ruler of the kingdom.โ
you argued back. โBut itโs not like Iโm taking over the throne as soon as I turn nineteen like youโve been acting,โ you argued back. And Iโm definitely not getting married to some prince just because youโre telling me too!โ
โActually, you are taking over when you turn nineteen,โ your father bit back. โThatโs why the family is coming tomorrow.โ
โWhat? You never told me that!โ you huffed, panicked. โI-Iโm not ready for that yet! And- and my birthday is less than a month away!โ
โAnd thatโs exactly why youโll be heading back with the Narva family when you leave in a week,โ your father stated before taking another sip of his wine. โItโs all been arranged. A week after youโve arrived at Narva youโll be married to their son, and when you turn nineteen youโll be brought back for your coronation.โ
โIโm being sent away?โ you echoed as tears quickly pricked in the corners of your eyes.
What about your friends, and everything you had to do here? How were you going to go off and marry some stranger in two weeks?
โWhat- What about my life here? My friends?โ you asked him almost desperately. You were grasping at straws, anything that could possibly be used as leverage.
โYour friends?โ he spat quickly. โYou mean those servants who you sneak away to meet every evening? That horse-boy?โ
The manner in which he said Jeanโs beloved nickname shook you as more tears began spilling out. You could no longer hold them in as it felt like something youโd always held dear to your chest was ripped away.
โYou wonโt be seeing them again. At least not in those circumstances. Iโve spoiled you for far too long by letting you get away with those inappropriate relationships; it shouldโve ended the second you turned sixteen.โ
You were losing them. The support system youโd had since you were thirteen. The people whoโd been there for you since youโd begun to stress about all your duties as a royal.
All of them would be gone.
Jean, would be gone.
It felt like the walls of the hall were closing in; with all the eyes turned to you, and the tears that were running fast down your cheeks now accompanied by the occasional crackle of thunder coming from outside, it was too much.
You swallowed thickly, trying to wipe the tears away with the back of your hand so they would disappear but they didnโt. They kept falling, and you just stood there with an almost blank look while trying to rub them away.
โExcuse me,โ you choked as you pushed the chair back with a screech and sped-walked to the door.
โY/N!โ your father called out behind you.
But you didnโt heed, not even turning around as you pushed open the heavy doors to the hall and slipped through the small crack.
Your head was pounding as you ran through the long hallways, shoes clacking against the floor as you heard your own sobs echoing off the walls. It almost felt like you werenโt even the one crying - just hearing another woman cry as you ran through the halls of the castle.
There really was only one place you could go to at the moment that would allow you to be alone with your thoughts. Or allow you to cry it out without any judgement. Your room wouldnโt work because Mikasa would be there - or the possibility that anyone could walk in at any moment.
You made it to the back door, huffing as you threw it open and ran outside. It was still pouring, and you were instantly weighed down by the water soaking into the fabric of your dress as you ran down the cobblestone path. It didnโt hinder you though, as you maintained your steady pace as you huffed and ran across the trails youโd crossed so many times before to the stables.
It was one place youโd always been able to find comfort in, even if there wasnโt anyone there with you.
The wooden structure came into sight quickly, and you trudged your way through the rain and muddy ground quickly - ignoring how the bottom of your gown was dirtied and heavy as rainwater sunk into your shoes.
The door was open, which made you pause for a second - but you figured it couldโve been the wind or the stablehand forgetting to close the door before they left earlier that evening.
You walked in anyway, hiccuping and sniffling as you made your way over the hay laid about the floor to where your horse rested in the back - only to be surprised by Jean sitting on the floor of one of the stalls with a lantern and a foal laying in his lap on a towel.
โHey,โ he looked at you surprised. โI wasnโt expecting to see you here.โ
โYeah..โ you trailed off as you quickly wiped the tears thatโd been spilling earlier. โW-What are you doing here?โ
โMajesty had her foal,โ he gestured to the animal in his lap. โRemember, how I told you she was due any day now?โ
โYeah,โ you nodded.
The foal was curled up against Jean, and you crouched down beside him to get a better look at it. Itโs coat was still a little sticky and wet, but it seemed to be doing well as it let Jean run his fingers across itโs head in a relaxing manner
โWhat are you doing here?โ Jean looked to you, concerned.
He saw your puffy eyes and tear-stained cheeks. It was obvious something had happened. The urge to help you rose in his throat and stained in his mind.
โWhat are you going to name them?โ you deflected quickly.
โItโs a girl, and Iโm not sure yet,โ he sighed. โYou never answered my question.โ
โItโs nothing,โ you paused. โIโm fine.โ
โClearly itโs not,โ he raised his eyebrow towards you. โYou wouldnโt be here otherwise.โ
โItโs not a big deal,โ you repeated, standing up now. โI-Iโm fine. I was just overreacting- or something.โ
Jean carefully placed the sleeping foal to the floor before getting up. He stared right down at you as he stepped closer, trapping you against one of the wooden pillars.
โWhatโs wrong?โ he asked once more.
He watched as you sucked in a shaky breath, while you stared off to the side before speaking. โ...Iโm marrying some prince from Narva in two weeks.โ
Jean felt as if all the air was sucked out of his lungs from those words. He could only gape back at you in response, and it took him too long to catch himself to try and continue the conversation.
โWhat- I- mean, but what about your work here?โ
โIโm leaving next week.. w-with them,โ you hiccuped. โAnd when I return I-Iโm being crowned qu-queen.โ
You were sniffling once more, as sobs came out in chokes. Jean only stood frozen, unsure of what he was supposed to do.
It felt like he was powerless.
โIโm sorry,โ he stepped closer once more, trying to pull you in for a hug.
There shouldโve been more he could do for you in that situation. He knew that. But what? What exactly was a servant like him supposed to do anything for you like this?
In the position he was in, he was lucky he even got the chance to speak to you.
You basically collapsed against his chest, sobbing as his fingers raked through your hair slowly. It wasnโt doing much to calm you down, as your sobs became wails and the tears stained his shirt. You were both damp and sticky from the rain, but neither of you paid it any mind.
โThatโs not all,โ you pulled back, trying to calm your frantic breathing.
โWhat else happened?โ he quickly asked.
You stood for a moment, almost hyperventilating.โ.... Iโm not allowed to see you again.โ
โYou mean-โ his eyes widened.
โYou or anyone else.โ
The way you spoke that sentence so solemnly, with such a finite tone, all the while hiccuping slightly - broke a piece inside him.
And he realized something.
The desire he had for you wanting his help. The desire he had for you to talk to him about everything. The anger he felt whenever you didnโt come to him. The fact that he let you get away with that nickname. The need he had for you in his life.
Just how fucking stupid heโd been this whole time.
He turned back to you with a new realization, with eyes widened as if heโd just discovered the impossible matching the expression on his face. It was something you didnโt really seem to notice, with your eyes still blurred by sadness and weariness.
And he shouldโve just kept his mouth shut. He wouldโve kept his mouth shut on the normal occasion. But maybe it was the fact that heโd never be permitted to see you again that led to him speaking. The idea that heโd never be able to say anything to you if he didnโt right at that minute.
โI-I love you,โ he whispered.
โWhat?โ
โI love you.โ
Your breath hitched as you stared at him in wonder. Mikasa was right.
Jean quickly turned away while you continued to stare blankly in front of you. Heat was rising to your face, creeping down your neck and up your ears to your cheeks. You could feel it radiating off when your hand reached up to touch your skin.
Maybe youโd been denying it for too long.
โI love you too, horse-boy.โ
Jeanโs eyes were back on you in an instant, and you watched as amazement rose in them quickly. You couldnโt say anything before he was back in front of you - pressing his lips on yours in haste.
Your bodies were fleshed against one another in that instant, no one else present besides the two of you. It was hot and fiery as your fingers gripped the edge of his jaw, but soft and subdued as his palms trailed over your waist.
It shouldโve been the happiest moment of your life, but everything in your mind was screaming at you that it would never work. It couldnโt.
How would it?
You were being sent to marry off another, forbidden from ever seeing him again.
Solemnly, you carefully pushed yourself away from him, watching as his face slowly saddened as he came to the same realization.
You inhaled an unsteady breath before choking out โWe canโt.. I canโt-โ
โRun away with me.โ
โWhat?โ you stared at him once more.
โDo you trust me?โ he asked, his fingers trailing over your cheek. โRun away with me.โ
