In my Angels Among Sinners AU, (post S2), Charlie creates a new program called “The Guardian Angel Project,” a trial where an angel is paired with a sinner to help guide them toward redemption, and the Vees only agree to participate not because they want redemption or care, but because Charlie weaponized their egos against them. So sweet Emily ends up assigned to Velvette.
For Emily, she feels genuinely happy being able to help a lost soul find its way to redemption. She wants so badly to make her sinner feel supported and comfortable, just like she did with Sir Pentious. In Emily's mind, she's like, “My sinner is the most special and most wonderful sinner in all of hell and we're going to be best friends!” So when she first meets Velvette, she's immediately fascinated by her. But Velvette, on the other hand, is not... She thinks Emily is childish and annoying and makes mean little jabs and digs at her, but Emily just smiles and lets them roll right off her back.
I really don’t want to reveal too much more because I plan on writing a multi‑chapter fic for this, but I can’t help myself! X3
So eventually, something happens that makes Emily realize that Velvette has been a fake friend to her, embarrassed of her, even. Emily finally confronts Velvette about it in front of Velvette’s peers and breaks down crying, pouring out how much she thought their friendship meant, how highly she genuinely thought of her.
This completely shocks Velvette. She had no idea Emily was being that real with her. Emily truly wears her heart on her sleeve, and Velvette isn’t used to that. She’s made plenty of people cry before and laughed about it, but this time… it doesn’t feel funny. For the first time, she actually feels remorse.
After that, Emily doesn’t speak to Velvette or see her for a while. Velvette notices the absence immediately, a cold little void now that Emily isn’t constantly around her. She misses her warmth, her presence, and especially her bubbly cuteness. And what hits her hardest is the question she never expected to ask herself: “Why should I care if she never speaks to me again? Why does it bother me that she won't look at me? Was she actually my friend?”
And then comes another strange, unfamiliar thing Velvette has to do if she wants Emily back... she has to apologize.
Velvette gives her first sincere apology in her entire life, and Emily is so pleasantly surprised that she accepts it without hesitation. She just wraps Velvette in a huge, tight hug and lifts them both right off the ground with her wings. This hug rocks Velvette to her core because she's used to grudges, petty drama, and spiteful revenge. But Emily just forgives. Not because she’s weak or anything, but because she’s strong enough to love openly.
After that experience, Velvette softens toward Emily and starts seeing her in a new light. She realizes that Emily is the first person who ever appreciated her for more than her image. Emily’s loyalty, her sincerity, her kindness, her forgiveness, and most importantly, her trust. Trust is something Velvette has never truly valued and Emily’s trust feels real and precious now. And for the first time in her life, Velvette doesn’t want to lose something real with someone.
Velvette also realizes that Emily is the perfect height and build to be her new model (and whether she wants to admit it or not, she does find Emily attractive). So she asks Emily to be her new model, and Emily gleefully accepts because she sees it as a great bonding experience, even though she’s nervous about modeling.
Velvette ends up creating a new fashion line called Angelic Vogue for her new special model. She even designs custom synthetic sleeves and accessories specifically for Emily’s prosthetic wing. Wing pieces that are stylish, functional, and made with a level of care Velvette has never shown anyone before. As they spend more time working together, their relationship deepens, and so do their feelings for each other~
And as for Sera in all of this, Sera is open‑minded to the relationship because of the guilt she carries over the exterminations. She’s willing to see Velvette through Emily’s eyes, but if Velvette hurts her sweet, baby sister again, it’s game over for Velvette. ☠️
PS: In this AU, Charlie ends up paired with Vox through the Guardian Angel Project because she’s technically “half angel,” and that eventually leads them to become a couple. Valentino and Abel also grow close for the same reason, since Abel was assigned to Valentino.
PPS: Molly eagerly joins the project because she wants to see her twin brother and help him join her in heaven.
