The Lily Pond and Rose Garden @ Batemans NT Sussex by Adam Swaine Via Flickr: The rose garden and lily pond were designed by Kipling and his drawing is on display in the house. The Rose Garden was replanted in 2007, as the original plants were slowly dying. The new roses were sponsored by members of the public in memory of people who have worked at Bateman's, from Kipling's time to the present day, or to commemorate a special visit here.

Bird song – Sedge Warbler @ Oare Marshes Kent by Adam Swaine Via Flickr: Sedge Warblers are streaky and have that creamy stripe just above the eye whereas Reed Warblers are brown and unstreaked. Reed Warblers live mostly in reedbeds (this is a well-named species) whereas Sedge Warblers also live in reedbeds but also in wet habitats away from reeds, and in scrub away from wetlands just sometimes.
