One of my favorite things about Yu-Gi-Oh is the fact that it doesn't have a direct theme. I'm not talking about the anime or the manga, but specifically the OCG/TCG, and compared to the other big two TCGs.

Magic: The Gathering, not including non-canon material like Universes Beyond and the Un-Sets, mostly keeps itself to different forms of High Fantasy and Science Fantasy, with the closest it's strayed from that is in The Edge, leaning much more to the science side of Science Fantasy

The Pokemon TCG is locked into being a part of the Pokemon Franchise, and is not able to move from that. Yu-Gi-Oh does whatever the card desingers feel like doing that day and what the artists are willing to do. We have standard dragons and wizards and monsters, and then we have things like living statues that turn into abominations, warrior furries (there are multiple different archetypes that could go here), literal dragon maids, mechanical roman soldiers, Transformers of small handheld machines (there's also a 3d printer and a skateboard in the archetype, don't ask), Alice in Wonderland fused with malware, little dessert critters that are crane game plushies in their lore, trains, and so much more. Nothing is sacred, and this isn't even getting into the somehow still Japanese and South Korean exclusive Rush Duel, which is another can of worms entirely. If you haven't looked into Yu-Gi-Oh cards and archetypes, do yourself a favor and look into it, you will find something that you will enjoy.
