i wish there was a way to say "you're right, but this is really ineffective and even counterproductive messaging to anyone who doesn't already agree with you" without sounding like an asshole
“Ghosts are real” I can see how you could believe that
“Ghosts aren’t real” it’s very fair and rational that you believe that
“Ghosts aren’t real anymore” I’m about to hear a poem or very sad story
“Ghosts aren’t real yet” the fuck are you going to do

why do so many people talk about nazi phases like they're a rite of passage and completely normal for everyone to have
I've noticed in a lot of feminist discussions there's a lot of focus on not demonizing hyper-feminine women, and while I 100% agree that just because a woman wears pink and likes sparkles that she's less intelligent or capable, it's a bit sus that those discussions never talk about the stigma that masculine women face. Worse, some imply that masculine women are inherently anti-feminist because they're, like, "not like other girl" types and are just trying to stigmatize being feminine or are implying that masculinity is better.

Are you an advocate for censorship?
is this because i said not to use the r slur
this? is this what you're referring to? yeah i think calling other people slurs is bad
reminder that the people this slur refers to, people with intellectual disabilities, are still campaigning to REDUCE/end its usage, not "reclaim" it. the r word used to be a medical diagnosis--it was never a 'nice' term and it was always used for ableist, and generally eugenicist, ends--and it is still included in several state laws, so self advocates with intellectual disabilities have been passing laws around the country to get this word out of laws. under no circumstance does it make sense to "reclaim" this term, especially if you are not affected by the ableism that people with intellectual disabilities face.

the reemergence of the r slur in common internet lexicon drives me up the fucking wall
everyone got a little too excited about reclaiming fruit and now it's seen as perfectly acceptable to use derogatory terms with absolutely atrocious history as insults against other people even in the most progressive spaces. stop doing that.

me watching mollholland drive last night
getting mad thinking about the time there was a post going around with a joke that very clearly implied that if you got groomed online it was your fault, and when people in the notes were like "that's a cruel joke and not funny" they got hounded for being party pooping prudes even though if the post was about literally any other form of sexual abuse everyone would have rightfully been upset. But getting sexually abused online just isn't as serious or something (it is. the trauma is exactly the same.)

"All religions are cults if you think about it"
Actually they're not all cults and you're doing the work of making sure actual cults can slip under the radar when you say stuff like that
Cult leaders LOVE that trend, because they can point to it and say, "people will call anything a cult, it's basically meaningless"
I'm begging you all to stop using the word cult until you really understand what it means
keep calling religions cults please. can we not forget about manifest destiny, can we not forget about scientology, can we not forget about why we are, have been, and will be in war until this shit is torn down, can we recognize that cults are very specifically categorized and most religions tick all the boxes, think about how nearly every widely known cult started as “radicalized” or extremist viewpoints stemming off of recognized and established religions, i get where you’re coming from but churches don’t pay taxes, and neither do the rich so let’s not normalize the lesser of two evils.
Hey bud I know where you're coming from but this isn't it at all. Not only is it wrong to think that most religions check all the cult boxes (WILDLY wrong!) it's WAY useful to be able to distinguish between the them.
Your way is like a doctor looking at three patients, one with a punctured lung, one with the flu, and one with a cut to the spine and saying "just call them all wounds they're basically all the same, they're all bad for you"
I’d also like to add that calling all religions cults DEEPLY minimizes the indigenous religions and traditions that have been oppressed under colonization. Indigenous religions and African Traditional Religions are not cults.
I very much understand the sentiment, but frankly it’s kinda racist to assume all religions are cults. It’s also kind of minimizing the trauma cult survivors go through as well but I digress.
Religion is vast and varied and painting over it with a “all religion bad, actually” is short sighted and an undereducated opinion at best.
sometimes a theme recurs in your work without your permission. and sometimes it reaches a threshold where you're like. well now i think this is saying something about me against my will. don't know what though
